Otis Boudreaux - The Irish Kid - Pt 1 2x Draft

What a crazy whirlwind this has been! I got signed to the Raptors, became the Assistant General Manager of the British Isles World Junior Championship team and now I am trying to wrap my mind around this upcoming draft. I thought I was going to just fly quietly under the radar, I mean, who would be interested in a new lanky kid from Ireland?

I figured that I would be able to just stretch out, try to find a new home, and settle in to the whole process, boy was I wrong!!

My phone has been ringing almost non-stop. If my phone isnt ringing, I am getting email notifications as teams are sending me questionnaires to answer, more requests to talk on the phone, text messages and just general team information emails. I never even imagined that I would have gotten any interest in this draft, let alone this much!. I came over here to just play hockey and now I am garnering interest as a draft pick, not as a free agent signing, but as an actual, honest to God draft pick!

But I have something else to consider right now, I am the Assistant General Manager of the British Isles World Junior Championship team and we have a tournament to prepare for. I have been very busy helping the General Manager go through the roster and evaluate the players. It is tough to do because every time I saw someone was from Ireland, I missed home just a little bit more. But I reminded myself that I could either go home as a failure, who had not really tired anything or taken a chance, yea, signing with Colorado was something unexpected, but lets be real, I didnt do anything there, so I cant really claim that I have done anything. I want to be able to say I have given it my best shot, and riding the Zamboni isnt really something that I call giving it my best.

But to go back to the WJC, I think we are ready, at least as ready as we can be. The GM and I have been working very hard to set up the best roster. I was given the responsibility of evaluating the roster and giving it to the GM so the lines can be set. It was really interesting to get all of that together. It kept me busy and I didnt think about this draft that is going to be here in just a matter of days...yes...a matter of days before a draft and I dont even know who the teams are that could take me...

Maybe I need to look at the teams, who they have, who they need, to see if I could even be considered by them..and where they select in the draft....

That is quite alot of things to wrap my mind around...so maybe it is something else to write about later, but I cant even imagine getting drafted at this point. But later this week, who knows?
