The Colorado Raptors entered into the SMJHL draft in what seemed like a good spot. They had a goalie named Shiny Shuckle who currently has 328 TPE and while I cannot find thier main goalie Gangly Arms update page in the Ra0tors updates, he is S64 so he is probably capped by now. However as of right now they stand at 3-3 and blew a big lead to the Regina Elk, so they may be actually entering a rebuilding period. It just seems to early to tell right now. In this Deep Dive, I will be examining the three Raptors rookies that were selected in the draft in terms of stats and earned TPE.

With the 12th overall pick, the Colorado Raptors selected a center named Koty Kochan from the USA. As of thier last update last week that have earned 210 TPE and have gotten a lot of thier attributes up to 10. They haven't put in an update this week yet, but appear to be fairly active early on in this season. They have already gotten an impressive one goal and two assists in six games, and have gotten a total of two penalty minutes and 6 hits and a very impressive 10 blocks. They appear to be inserting themselves into the offense rather quickly, and Raptors fans have got to be happy with thier early production.

The Raptors would end up getting the 17th overall pick via a two-way trade that also involved the Great Falls Grizzlies and the St.Louis Scarecrows, and with that pick they would take a left winger from Norway in Tom Pedersen. His most recent update was actually an hour or so ago and he currently has 217 TPE. However he also has 8 TPE banked for whatever reason, but I will not question it as I am not him. He currently has 3 goals and 1 assist, which is extremely impressive early on. In fact, looking at another rookie that I see that will we get to it seems that the rookies are being counted on to produce early on. He also has 2 penalty minutes and a punishing 7 hits and 8 blocks.

And finally with the 27th pick the Raptors would pick Ged Sparrowhawk, also from Norway. Aside from having one of the most awesome sounding names I have ever heard, he appears to have 225 TPE pending his latest update if I did my calculations right. I had to calculate it because he did not have his latest tpe total in his latest update, but does in his last one. He currently has two goals and one assist which seems impressive for a young defendemen this early on. He does only have 3 blocks and 6 hits which does seem pretty low for his position, but the season is young.

Overall, the rookies seem to be counted on to produce pretty early on in this season amd have gotten some impressive early stats. However it does seem that the Raptors might want to lean more on thier vets if they hope to get some more wins and climb uo the standings. They are currently 9th in the SMJHL standings, in front of Carolina who has one less game then them and behind Anchorage who have the same record as them.
