What has Pre-Season shown us in regards to what we can expect for the regular season? Well there is one team that I think it has shown a lot about and one that I would love to take some time and break down a little bit more so that we can see what impact this can have in the regular season. The Carolina Kraken are a team that ended strong last season by knocking the Maine TImber out of the playoffs, still hurts. They are a team that seems to have everything in place to continue off of the momentum that they built at the end of last season. We are going to explore 4 takeaways from preseason:

1. BASE PACK is still an animal. The work horse that guards the crease for the Kraken has not shown any signs of slowing down and he posted a solid 0.934 SV% in Preseason  while leading the team to 5 wins. This shows how the player has utilized the offseason to keep in shape and build off the success from the past season. He is going to be important in a successful season for the Kraken because once again he is going to be looked at nearly every night when it comes to guarding the crease.
2. The next take away from preseason is that it appears that Carolina might have figured out some of their issues when it came to putting up goals and points. 2 players jumped into double digit points this preseason and that is something that bodes well for an explosive offense during the season. This is something that the team was definitely missing the majority of last season and if they can keep up that kind of production they should be able to give BASE PACK the support he needs in net to have a successful sophomore campaign.
3. I mentioned briefly 2 players that got double digit points and the most notable of that who is going to be important this season is Marek Skoda. A player that needs to lead with his ability to pass the puck and get it into dangerous areas. He went on a 2 point per game average this Preseason and that is something that needs to carry over into the regular season and in my opinion it definitely should. The team is young but they are getting better and the chemistry is there.
4. My final observation is that depth is going to be their biggest enemy for regular season success. Do they have enough players to back up their stars and create the well rounded environment that leads to more victories than losses. Their performance early on shows that they are here to compete this season, but 66 games is a lot longer than 7 so only time will tell.

I am very excited to watch this squad throughout the season. They were the bane of our existence in the playoffs last season in Maine and I believe that they can continue to be a tough opponent for a ton of time to come. Look out for a future contender!
