Good evening, SHL! We know a lot of you have been asking about the statement in the last SOTU regarding test simming in the upcoming switch to FHM8 (quoted for clarity here):

We will be looking at all options on the table when it comes to restricting access to test simming on FHM8. The test simming culture that has developed over the past several years has become a detriment to the overall league experience and a deterrent for aspiring GM’s, and we hope that we can mitigate these issues.

To reiterate, we believe that the time sink that test simming has become is not healthy. The SHL is a community; we are a player league, not a GM league, and no one should feel as if they have to pour hours of solo time into testing to give their team any chance at winning, rather than putting that time into engaging with the community in other ways. Therefore: Accessing the SHL or SMJHL league file for the purposes of test simulations in FHM8 is strictly prohibited. Any other method of attempting to circumvent this ban in order to run test simulations is also prohibited. We encourage GMs to utilize the preseason to gauge the usefulness of lines and tactics, rather than running full season sims as has often occurred in the past. We will be adding this to the rulebook pending official wording, but we know this is a question many of you have been asking, and wanted to address it now. 

Effective immediately, anyone found to be in violation of this rule will be subject to the following punishment: 
- immediate dismissal from any job held on the site (including but not limited to GM positions), and an indefinite ban from holding any management position on the site. 
- A five-season site ban 
- Immediate retirement of the user’s player. 
- A fine of 50% of the user’s current bank total, or 25M dollars, whichever is higher. 

To reiterate, Sim testing for the SHL or the SMJHL in FHM 8 is considered a violation of the rules. Do not do it. Do not ask your friends to do it. Do not ask your mother to do it. If you see your friends doing it, tell them to stop (and tell someone in Head Office, please - we know no one wants to be a whistleblower but things only get better if we all commit to making them better.) Please commit to making things better with us.
