Season 7 Standing Predictions
#1

Now there's been some debate as to where each team is going to be next season come the final day. I'm here to give my opinion... Yes my OPINION on what I think the final standings will be, this is just my opinion and you don't like it... Don't read it bruh!

First I'll do the Western Conference

Starting at the bottom. The 5th place team in the Western Conference I see being the...

Vancouver Nightmare

Unless they can somehow manage to re-sign Crasher and Hockridge I see no way they won't be a lottery team next season. Their defense would lose it's identity and they'd lose one of their top scorers. Their bright spot would be their depth on offense, but as we saw with the Toronto Stars last season, scoring can't win you games when you let in a bunch of goals.

Strengths- Forward depth, Goaltending

Weaknesses- Potential loss of two stars, and their defense as a whole

Fourth place and just missing the playoffs I have

Winnipeg Jets

Despite the Jets having won the cup in S1, I see those days long gone, Turcotte, Littleton, Mexico and Kremer are all in regression, I just don't see them being able to put together a winning record this season unfortunately despite having a good draft and very good young players, until they realize they're in a rebuild and actually start committing to that they will struggle

Strengths- Mexico, Krejci, Young stars (Kovalenko, Rashad)
Weaknesses- Defense looking weak, core players all aging

Third place and squeaking into the playoff I see

The Edmonton Comets

The Comets got a complete overhaul, and while I still feel they'll struggle for a bit, and may prove me wrong (and miss the playoffs) this season I think they have the pieces to make the playoffs, however I don't think they have the pieces yet to compete with the 2 big dogs in the West

Strengths- GM willing to take risks, young core
Weaknesses- Defense, goaltending

The second team place in the West, rivaling the first place team is

The LA Panthers. The Panthers didn't do much this off-season at all, they have all their key components that they had in their cup win but their core is aging. Stevens, Dar, Skvoznak, Seguin are all in regression, the goalie who won them the cup is gone and while Idot and Summers will be better this season, they're about the only part of the team I see being better

Strengths- Core still in tact, smart GM
Weaknesses- Goalie choked in the final, core is old, no noteworthy acquisitions this season

Which leaves the number one team in the West

I think this is the season where Nate finally catches a break (Of course his player won't be there to see it :lolSmile, with such a young potent core, Wilson, Obama, Webb, Richan. Their veteran presence from guys like Jesster and Smith. I just think this is finally their season.

Strengths- Potent potent potent offense, All-Star goaltending
Weaknesses- Could be better on defense
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the Eastern Conference!

Bringing up the tail end

While I think Hamilton's future is bright. I don't think it'll be this season that they have a bright future  They had a great draft imo, drafting Jamie Rose, Anton Wagner, they have a pretty good chunk of picks next season, they have a good core with Raymond Lindsay, Kevin Lebacon and Astorino but I don't think they have enough to really press this season, I think they'll fight for their lives but not make it when all's said and done

Strengths- Good Core, Good propects
Weaknesses- No Depth, Iffy goaltending

Fourth I have the Minnesota Chiefs

Yes, last season's Eastern Conference Champs. Reason being I still think last season was a Cinderella run fueled mainly by a weak start to the season by the Stars, and their abundance of wins against Hamilton. I didn't like their draft overall to be honest, it was okay but nothing out of the ordinary, and I think despite having a strong showing last season, and a pretty solid defense line and of course names like Witzel and Sawyer... I just don't think they have what it takes to repeat especially since they lost Goonathan who was a top 5 scorer for them. Not to mention Sawyer isn't time proven. Comparing him to Serge Niles who had a stellar rookie season, led the Stars when they had no identity, and no real star caliber players. But struggled thereafter. I Do think that 3rd and 4th will be neck and neck though

Strengths- Great first defensive line, Witzel, Miller
Weaknesses- Unproven goaltending.

Third is the Platoon

I think the Platoon like the Chiefs will see a huge drop off from last season, Nando is in his 2nd season of regression, Holmes and Valentine are gone. Khan is deep in regression. They just really lost a huge step this off-season in my opinion. While they drafted well, and made some good moves. I think that they will be right on the brink of missing the playoffs this season.

Strengths- Nando and Khan are still Nando and Khan, Young core

Weaknesses- Lost leading scorer, Defense looks weak

Toronto Stars

I think the Stars will break out this season and really prove that they can compete. I know it was supposed to be last season but the shaky goaltending killed them for most of the season. Once they got Honcho they were quite impressive. They have last seasons highest scoring line in Hogan, Abdalla, Falkirk, they have Maxfield and Onoprienko on defense, they picked up Goonathan who was their captain prior. They still have Danielson who's going to fight for top minutes this season, still have the depth at center picking up Gallagher to play center along with Falkirk, Hanson. I think they'll impress this season. If not then I think it's time to start over completely since on paper they have the most talented team.

Strengths- 5 Maxed out players, Most of the S3 Comets team
Weaknesses- Record of failure, pretty much everything riding on this season.

Manhattan Rage

I like the Rage's team, they have one of the best GM's in the league, they have arguably the best defensive pairing in the league, they are young, have a Defensemen who outscored most forwards, they have a potent top line. Really only thing I have bad about them is their goaltending and the fact down the stretch last season they faltered. I don't see them making it to the Challenge Cup Finals despite having a first round bye.

Strengths- Defense, Great GM, Great top line
Weaknesses- Goaltending

Maybe later I'll do my predictions for the playoffs Smile Once again this is just my opinion, ya don't like it oh well Tongue

Maxy if we finish last I will send you my fantasy director salary. If not you send me 2.5 million?

While I agree with you ranking regarding our team I disagree on the weaknesses. Our defense is going to be a big asset I feel. We have our top 4 locked in with all pretty active guys. Goalie wise Gustavo may struggle at the start but with his activity I feel he will improve quickly.

Our forward depth worries me a bit more. After our first two lines even with Armia and an active Stevenson we still need to get a bit deeper on forwards. That is my biggest concern in my opinion.

Um no? The Comets just finished a rebuild, very well could fuck them over and you end up 4th, Jets are in the same boat as you. You 3 are all pretty even. I'll bet you that you don't make it further than the Dragons or Panthers as they're the only two teams in the West with a chance this season

Bottom 3 in the West are pretty well even imo. I think Edmonton has the best chance to pull ahead though. If you guys re-sign either Crasher or Hockridge then I'd give you the advantage

If we don't make the play-offs then? Pansy.
