Scouting Report: Sebastien Regazzoni, 16-year-old Center

Height: 6’3”
Weight: 200 lbs

Regazzoni has the tools every GM loves in a center; speed and power. He’s a freight train, who can cut through the neutral zone like a knife with his quickness and agility. His balance and puckhandling makes him a dangerous threat on a 2-on-1 or a breakaway.. He has the acceleration to beat almost anyone and the reading ability to pass to almost anyone. He’s defensively solid as well, able to make the hits and checks if he needs to, or to steal the puck with his quick stick, or sacrifice his body for a shot. His ability to get open, and his agility and reading ability make his a threat many offenses will not see at first glance with his impressive speed and strength.

But speed and power without discipline is nothing, and Regazzoni has points where he needs to improve. The first and most glaring is his lack of aggression. His speed and size would make him an imposing threat, but he fails to use that strength to his advantage, Is non-confrontational, and doesn’t effectively take the risks to make the big plays in the corner. His positioning in the defensive zone also requires work, along with the range of his shot. If he addresses these discrepancies, he’ll surely be a force.
