Chapter One: He Blinded me with Science Chapter Two: An Offer you can't Refuse Chapter Three: Dark Symbols Chapter Four: Poetic Justice Chapter Five: The Green Glow - - - As he lay down to sleep, Thomas Tinkle took off his glasses and quietly turned out the light. It had been a very stressful day and Thomas was happy to finally rest his head on his soft pillow. While closing his eyes and stretching his toes out under the warm blanket, Thomas suddenly became aware of an unusual light emanating from across the room. 'What is that,' he thought to himself as he scrambled to find his glasses and put them on. It looked... It looked like some strange object with a green glow. Thomas rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things, then bravely put one foot on the floor to slowly approach the glow and see what it was. As he drew ever closer, Thomas could hardly believe his eyes. It was none other than the suspicious puck he'd brought home, only now those odd symbols were glowing in the dark! For the first time, Thomas examined the symbols more closely until he saw a pattern begin to emerge. 'I know I've seen these before,' he thought to himself while drawing his finger closer and closer to actual contact. 'If only I could remember where?' And then, as if in answer to his last thought, it suddenly dawned on him, these weren't just symbols... This was Greek! "But how," he exclaimed out loud. How could this possibly be? It was bad enough when these were just random symbols, but now, if they were actually organized letters, the mystery was far worse. And what of this green glow? Was there anything in the manufacturing process that could cause phosphorescence? Yes it's true we use sulfur in the vulcanization process, but that only produces a yellow tint, not bright green like this. Despite not knowing if it was safe, Thomas's finger continued toward the glowing puck like a moth to a flame. In a bold move that was either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid, he finally touched one of the green glowing letters - only to feel a strong tingle like a pulse from an energy wave. Whatever this was, it would have to be examined in the light of day, so Thomas placed the puck securely in the fridge, before calling his former linguistics professor to share the news. As crazy as it sounded, the professor agreed to meet first thing in the morning, and with that, Thomas finally went back to bed. - - - - - - - To be continued... Quote:500 Words
