SHL Graphics Academy Wrap-up (S67)
#1

Hello everyone!

This season the Graphics Department kicked off a new initiative, The Graphics Academy, with the intention of helping users develop their graphic abilities and to increase engagement in the graphics community. Now it is time for a wrap-up.

We were very excited when we saw the community reaction to this initiative and had 28 people sign up during the registration week to participate in our first round of beginner and advanced classes.

Those who signed up were split into groups and then over the seven weeks duration they were set a number of challenges aligning to the creation of a forum signature. Once their entry for the week's task was submitted we discussed what they found challenging. The academy mentors as well as the peers in the class then gave feedback and suggestions based on the submission and areas that were found difficult which people could incorporate into their work.

While the final number of people did reduce due to various reasons we would like to say thank you to everyone who signed up. For those that were able to stick with us a big thank you for the time you put in, the conversation and feedback that you provided to the others in the group this was greatly appreciated.

As this was our first attempt at this initiative we expected some bumps along the road and opportunites to improve, we asked all participants to provide feedback on their experience. The feedback we received was very valuable, it not only gave us ideas for how we can further improve for future classes but also showed us that the classes met the objectives we set out to achieve.

We would like to thank @Ragnar and @Count Chocula from the Graphic Grader team for their help and we would like to give an extra special thank you to @sulovilen, @sköldpaddor and @High Stick King for volunteering their time to be our Graphics Gurus (a.k.a. mentors) and providing their expertise to the classes!

So what's next? We will look at how we can improve the Academy based on the feedback from both the participants and the mentors and will aim to run another series of classes during the upcoming season.

Finally, below are the submissions from each of the groups showing their progress throughout the classes as well as a special graduation certificate (template created by the one and only Sulo <3) showing off their final submittion!

Signing up for the next session? Biggrin

Highly HIGHLY recommend the beginner class to anyone who wants to get into making graphics and maybe has no idea where to start. I quite literally knew nothing at the start, and now I am pretty confident that I could make very serviceable jersey swaps. And you get paid to be taught, so...why wouldn't you jump on the chance to both earn and learn at once?

Thanks for everything graphics department. <3

Learning this stuff in the beginner group was such a great experience and I encourage anyone interested in getting into making graphics to try it out! Thanks to @Carpy48 and all the tutors for making it possible!
