(GRADED)Deep Dive #1 - Newfoundland Positional Review

For my first look into Newfoundland's season, I thought I'd take a look at their positional strengths & weaknesses, and assign a grade to each one to give some form of indication of their forecast this season. It's undeniably an exciting season for the Berserkers, as a talented Rookie Class join a battle hardened veteran core, with excellent odds of success.

Berserkers Goalies

The Berserkers have two Goalies rotating in the net currently. These two are Rhett Carpet & Tummy Hurts. Simply due to experience & current ratings, Carpet plays the 1B to Hurts 1A. However having said these, both keepers excel on the ice and there's no lack of experience here. We could theoretically have a slightly higher starting TPE on Carpet with more years under his belt, but ultimately there is very little to scoff at nor to cause concern when it comes to the Zerkers last line of defence.

Grade: A-

Berserkers Defensemen

How about the Dmen of Newfoundland? Well this is where depth & options will begin to become a recurring theme for Newfoundland. Thankfully for the Zerkers, there is no position on their roster with a higher bar than the Defence. Personally, I am a rookie Dman for the Zerkers right now, and am the lowest average TPE in the group, despite already clearing 240! This means that I'm slotting in as a rook to an extremely well season, elite Unit. Led by the dynamic threat Philip Fry & the Defensive standout Lester Oiduser, the Defensive core has high grade players to lean on while they develop the future. Most importantly above all, for this season they are one of the top Units in the juniors league, and provide an obstacle for weaker teams to overcome. The only weakness? Perhaps headcount for the future could be improved, but I'm focusing the grading on this season's prognosis, which is tough to criticise.

Grade: A

Berserkers Centres

We have two Centres on our roster this season. Down one from last season, we're ever so slightly shorthanded at the position, but nthing too drastic. Thankfully, the two centres we are fielding in Season 70 are John Hopoate and Ryan McKennedy, both veteran beasts at this point. I wouldn't be surprised to see us bring on a young centre next year to begin learning the ropes for the future, but for now we're steady & stable in their hands. McKennedy profiles as more of a close up finisher, whereas Hopoate is an all-round powerhouse.

Grade: B+

Berserkers Wings

You like Wings? We like Wings! We've got 9 of them in fact. Depth clearly is of no issue here, with 4 maxed Wings and a couple not far behind, our attacking options are lethal, varied, and adaptable. There's far too many to go into detail on each, but out top wing options are all dynamic two way players, and Ozolinsh & Pane provide some absolutely sniper level shot accuracy. All in all if there's a group to be feared and one that is simultaneously set for the future via a wealth of young talent, it's the Wings in Newfoundland.

Grade: A+

In case you can't see, I somewhat fancy our chances this season. The stars have aligned and the iron is hot for the Berserkers to strike and take home a ring at the end of the year. Of course, we'll be looking at building young talent up after this, but there's a solid core there to do so. Still, no time like the present, and Season 70 could be one to remember for Newfoundland.
