3 BLIZZSTARS OF THE WEEK
S71 - Week 4
Finishing the regular season with a bang! Going 8-2-1 to round up the season going into the playoffs, the Blizzard are firing on all cylinders! If you haven't seen already *Spoiler Alert*, the Edmonton Blizzard have already dispatched their Round 1 opponents in the S71 Playoffs. The series was not even close with EDM outscoring TEX by a combined 25:8 through 4 games. More on the playoffs later, week 4 of the regular season saw the team hold steady and finish the season in 6th place, 2nd in the conference, and 1st in the Pacific Division. With the top of the table being dominated by Eastern teams, this may bode well for Edmonton's cup chances with an easier path in the West.
⭐
Evan Winter #17 – C – Mainz, Germany
11GP – 9G, 11A, 20P, +4 Another First Star appearance for Evan Winter! He has been on fire for the majority of the season, and if it weren't for excellent performances by his teammates, Winter would be a mainstay on the 3 Blizzstars list weekly. Finishing the season with 20 points in 11 games, Winter is a serious contender for the Sarmad Khan award this season, leading the team in goals (54), assists (56), along with a ridiculous 19.3% shooting percentage. The team will be looking for Winter to continue his dominance into the playoffs.
Notable games from Week 4: GM63 – vs CGY – 5-2 1G, 2A, 3P, +0 GM59 – vs MIN – 7-2 1G, 3A, 4P, +2 GM56 – vs MIN – 5-2 2G, 1A, 3P, +2 ⭐⭐
Justin Time
(@RAmenAmen)
#33 - G - Boise, ID, USA 10GP – 8-1-1, 2.54GAA, 0.908 SV% This list is starting to look a lot like week 1 Blizzstars. Just like Winter, Justin Time has been having a heck of a season, and if not for the brilliant performances by his teammates, he would be a strong contender for a Blizzstar week after week. Justin has had a career season, setting personal bests in almost all categories, and with this amazing season, Time is top 10 in the league in Wins (T-1), GAA (6th), GSAA (3rd), Saves (10th), SV% (7th), Shutouts (T-8), and Games Played (6th). His improved play has definitely caught the attention of the league as teams will try and figure out how to play against Justin Time in the playoffs. He has come into his prime..........Justin Time.
Notable games from week 4: GM39 – vs SEA – 4-1 31SV, 0.970 SV%, 97GR GM56 – vs MIN – 5-2 30SV, 0.940 SV%, 91GR ⭐⭐⭐
Emil Egli
(@TheGreatToeJam) #53 – RD – Lumnezia, Switzerland 11GP – 0G, 2A, +1 The Third Blizzstar for week 4 and making his first (of many hopefully) appearance this season is Emil Egli! If you look up the definition of stay-at-home defenseman, you will see a picture of Emil Egli beside it. Points aren't everything, it takes good defense to win as well, and Egli has put up great numbers in the final stretch. In the last 11 games, Egli has put up 32 blocked shots! Which he also leads the team with 168. Egli has also quietly put together a career season, crushing his previous point total best (25) with 37 points this season. Also posting highs in Assists, Shots, Blocks, Hits, and Game Rating. If the team wants to go far in their cup run, we will need more of this from Egli!
Honourable Mention
Luca Hunziker
(@Dangles13) #6 – LD – Grindewald, Switzerland 11GP – 4G, 10A, 14P, +9 The honorable mention goes to Luca Hunziker, with another week on the Blizzstar radar, that's 3 weeks in a row! Going over a point per game in the last stretch, and 34 shots on goal (that's more than most forwards!) From last week's Blizzstar update, Luca has indeed pushed it over the finish line and set new career highs after seeing a slight regression since joining from Toronto. The blue liner has found his groove and it shows as the team as a whole is firing on all cylinders going into the playoffs.
