Langston Hardison-Laurent: The Controversy Continues
#1

After Langston Hardison-Laurent's fall in the SMJHL draft, this reporter decided to dig deeper into what may have caused teams to second guess his abilities. As it turns out, the previous reports that Langston had stopped wearing golf attire under his equipment is accurate, but not completely for the better. The young prospect now wears Hawaiian shirts and swim trunks under his pads. He also routinely wears sunglasses as well.

But Langston's eccentricities don't stop at his wardrobe. He's also known for his unorthodox pre-game rituals. While other players are busy doing stretches and drills, Langston is often spotted sipping on an orange soda and working on his tan. Some critics argue that he's not taking the game seriously enough, but Langston insists that his laid-back approach is what sets him apart.

Due to his Florida roots, Langston attempted to use a golf club to play hockey, but was stopped. Langston's style of play has garnered mixed reviews from coaches and scouts. Some see him as a breath of fresh air in a sport that can sometimes take itself too seriously. Others think he's a one-man circus act who's making a mockery of the game. One scout even remarked, "I've never seen a player take so many penalty strokes in a hockey game."

Despite the controversy, Langston's talent is undeniable. He has an uncanny ability to stickhandle through defenders, and his golf-like slap shots have a surprising accuracy. He's even been known to distract goalies by yelling, "Fore!" just before he takes a shot.

As Langston continues to rise through the ranks of the hockey world, one thing is for sure: he's a force to be reckoned with, whether you love him or hate him. He's bringing a taste of Florida to the ice, and who knows, maybe we'll see palm trees and flamingos in SMJHL arenas before long. In the meantime, Langston will look to adjust to life in Yukon, perhaps the furthest possible place from Florida that he could have been drafted. When asked how he planned to deal with the change in weather, he said, "I'd better layer up." He then put on a second (matching) Hawaiian shirt. We asked if would have preferred to be drafted by a team closer to home and he replied, "Home is where the beach is." He then asked if Yukon is on the sea, to which we replied, "Yes but-" and then he grabbed a surf board and walked off.

Whether Langston Hardison-Laurent's Floridian ways will translate to Yukon remain to be seen, but we will keep you posted on his development.
