Recap of the S73 season
#1
(This post was last modified: 11-10-2023, 10:48 PM by Australiankek. Edited 2 times in total.)

Well the season ended and I’m again two rounds late. Earlier, I made an “early prediction” (here’s the link for that if you want to see that too: Link) for the SMJHL season. Of course it aged like milk, and also it felt like cheating because I was late  to make that article because there were already 5 games into the season when I finished it. There were some trades of course, so I have to go through that pain of making the lines also I swear I didn’t copy and paste in the last article because it’s all capital letters in the site and also it has links so I wouldn’t be bothered but there’s probably another way to see the lines but I’m just going to be like this. Also I was planning to do this after the playoffs to add an extra whole paragraph onto this article, but I’m getting shorter away from money each week so I guess I might just make another one later this month. You know it would have felt good for me if I had a job or something like the others, but I’m too lazy plus busy anyways. I think I’m going off topic so, in this article/media there will be the new lines of teams from trades. Talk about how close I got to the record of the team, talk about how their season went with their most important positives and negatives (checked by how good they did on a stat in the whole entire league). And lastly, I will talk about how on target I was for the point leaders for every team. Let’s go destroy my ego with all my failure predictions. And start first with the Newfoundland Berserkers. (Also every information I got from this was from the SMJHL index website)

Newfoundland Berserkers  [Image: CuLeTG9M2FQuT1pPmvx_HxSu7QRWk8qJG9Xi9O8a...YElcO-zSCU] :

Newfoundland is a team with no mercy with being in the top 5 of the league for the last few seasons and winning a cup in S70 I believe which is pretty long ago I know, but it is still impressive that they're still going with dominance. I guessed in the last article looking at pretty much nothing which was the preseason with their last few seasons and I predicted in between the wins of 30 to 35 and I was leaning more towards 35 because the team still looked good. And the Berserkers got exactly that with 35 wins 29 losses and 2 OTLs, the problem comes when I didn’t say what exactly their points would be like a stupid idiot Iam, so I can’t call everyone of these predictions a W sadly. The real problem with the team is that their defense and goaltending is worse than last season after losing their star goalie. With a concerning -11. I predict that they will be finding gems in the goalie and defense departments in this season's draft (and I have a gut feeling that a rebuild might be coming soon after all the players leave to the SHL). Other than that I think it’s going to be around the same amount of wins next season, but a negative goal record is still a very concerning thing to see especially a team that wants to win the whole thing. The point leader of the team I guessed was Erik Erikson with around 80 - 100 points (why couldn't I give a specific number) and surprisingly I got right with Erikson with 96 points. A big W on the board and a good start to this article. The lines look different, with promotions and demotions, some position changes, and new players from trades especially D-men. Here are the new lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (powerplay is S.K playing LW instead of Erik)
Erick Erikson (LW) -  Sad Ketchup (C ) - Dan Craig (RW)
Ondrej Von Stroodrick (LD) - Wes Thunderbass (RD)

2nd line (New players and position changes)
Cracker Pizza (LW) - Dylan Jacob-Smith (C ) - Mac Griddle (RW)
Temetrius Jamel “Ja Morant Wick (LD) - Adelbert Steiner (RD)
3rd line
Sabage Cabage (LW) - Pierre Mailloux (C ) - Entrophy Sanchez (RW)
Ho-lee-smokes (LD) - Heem Team (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (the same)
Dan Craig (LW) - Erik Erikson (C )
Adelbert Steiner (LD) - Ondrej Von Stroodrick (RD)

(The Same) Goalies: Ben Harrison and Rory Dallyn

Anchorage Armada [Image: brgwi4Yme3snQpDzBIWi6QxqCSvyrS6lL-DjlUHM...xFzfjr5-e4] :

Well did I expect this outcome? I’m sorry Anchorage fans, but I always remember you guys as the bottom feeders, not just because when my player first started in the league you guys were trash but actually I think that’s the only reason. But when I go back to reality and stop gaslighting myself, the team has outperformed my prediction just looking at the preseason. I guessed in the last article that they would improve a lot and jump up to the records of 35 to 40 wins (and I only included only the average, not an exact is this deja vu?) but Anchorage said fuck you to me and got two more wins out of their pockets. A very impressive season, but the only thing they should improve on is first their backup goalie, with 13 GP and only 5 wins with a .872 is pretty bad, also their giveaways to takeaways average as a majority needs an improvement but I can’t really find any other issues other than that. The point leader that I guessed was nobody because I didn’t put a player name in there like a dumbass I am but I said that player would have 80 to 100 points, and I was right with Joseph Reed having 89 points, but now it feels like cheating because I didn’t give a specific number with no player. I’m going to say that’s a double L. For the lines, there weren't many changes, no trades or free agent pickups, just promotions for the 3rd line forwards. Here’s the lines for Anchorage:

1st line (5 on 5 No changes)
Barg Hazbite (LW) - Joseph Reed (C ) - Deep thought (RW)
Johnny Shuffleboard (LD) - Dan Johnston (RD)

2nd line (Promotions for 3rd line forwards)
Benna Hanna (LW) - Ubba Lodbrok (C ) - Finn WeiB (RW)
Cheeks Klapanen (LD) - Jean-Francois Bokassa (RD)

3rd line (Demotions for 2nd line forwards)
Lucki Blackwood (LW) -  Fedot Fedorov (C ) - Bongo (RW)
Sim Wen (LD) - Kazuchika Okada (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No change)
        Bongo (LW) - Ubba Lodbrok (C )
Dan Johnston (LD) - Jean-Francois Bokassa (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (No change)
Deep Thought (LW) - Joseph Reed (C ) - Barg Hazbite (RW)
Cheeks Klapanen (LD) - Johnny Shuffleboard (RD)

Goalies: Stun Gun, Meo Vanbiesbrouck

Maine Timber [Image: R3QfHb2nt0mVh9FSQyWqFhxbh8vr9E1pXcXwO6Xr...jmblYlXSew] :

Well when we are talking about Maine in these last few seasons, they can have been compared to the 2019-2022 Tampa Bay Lightning team with all of those cup appearances, winning the cup 2 times in 6 seasons and making the finals match 5 out of 6 seasons is just crazy and why the team attracts so much players to get a free cup appearance. But for this season, I guess I expected a lot out of Maine in the regular season to be getting 47 to 50 wins with the addition of Logan Webb but for this season, they only won 41 and got 85 points one more than Anchorage. Still an amazing season and you can’t get them out until they're out in the playoffs anyways because that’s when their inner instincts and their full max potential comes bursting out. Some things they have to improve for next season however is their giveaways to take away percentages with the majority of the team being in the negatives for that, and their powerplay which is as low as top 3 in the bottom in powerplay goals considering that this team is the most offensive it makes no sense that the power play percentage is only 17.2%. The point leader that I guessed on being the team leader for the Timber was Logan Webb with 80 to 90 points thinking that the rest of the team would be balanced. Not only was my guess wrong but it wasn’t even the right person. Logan Webb got 2 more points than my highest guess and was second on the team behind Shootin blanks with 96 points. Well another 2 L’s this only shows that I’m not a time traveller. Here’s the lines for Maine:

1st line (5 on 5 Powerplay included) ( Jeff Goldblom into the first D pairing)
Max King II (LW) - Shootin Blanks (C ) - Logan Webb (RW)
Mick Mayhem (LD) -  Jeff Goldblom (RD)

2nd line (Leon Rizzton down to the 2nd line)
Cameron Dallas (LW) - Morgan Delfield (C ) - Jordan Thompson (RW)
Buster Knutt (LD) -  Leon Rizzton (RD)

3rd line (no changes)
Julian Kuznatsov (LW) - Ace Guilded (C ) -  Dwane Swanson (RW)
Icee Richradson (LD) - Teal’C (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (Buster Knutt instead of Mayhem)
Jordan Thompson (LW) - Morgan Delfield (C )

Buster Knutt (LD) - Leon Rizzton (RD)

Goalies: Nelly Celly, Gewmba Stolemamoney

Regina Elks [Image: ojzo7ChrT2fgB6iwGJ2RpyqQ-s74DAZvkTREMZwJ...VzziCnD-ec] :

The Regina Elks have been a very consistent top team in the J for the last few seasons, but just comes up short when the playoffs come. But this article is for the regular season anyways although the playoffs is what the teams go for and where their dream of winning the cup fails or succeeds. Anyways I seem to be a little off topic so let’s talk about the Elks S73 season. This season, it looks like they made it a mission to make the same record for away and home with 17 - 3 - 3 for both. At least one of the players are in the top 5 for goals and assists which is impressive, the Elks players have made it into the top 10 of rankings for goalies, defensemen, or forward rankings with exactly 26 players the same or not showing up. While their positives seem good but it is expected out of good teams so it’s not as mind-blowing. Something to talk about this team is their defense that includes the negative record in goals for and bad penalty killing (didn’t include that but their 3rd last in the league in PK I think). While their defense might be the most offensive in the league with Guy Incognito leading points for defensemen with 57, their defensive skills do not match up. Their goals for is in the negatives with 259 goals for and 260 goals against, this might not seem like the biggest deference but blowing out the other team to get a win then to lose in a blowout themselves is not a good strategy to be successful in the playoffs. This negative record might be because of how many giveaways they are giving away to the other team but again all the other very good teams have lots of giveaways too so that doesn’t really seem disasterful. My prediction for the Elks season was 37 - 40 wins but I was wrong by 3 wins if I say I counted the 37. My second prediction for the point leader of Regina was Mercedes Bayle with 95 - 100 points, but again that’s double L’s for me, surprisingly being more offensive on the defensive side with the leading player indeed being Mercedes Bayle but with 89 points. Two L’s and the L streak is slowly starting with some more disastrous ones coming up I remember. Here’s the lines of the Regina Elks;

1st line (5 on 5) (No changes)
  Just-to-buy-my-love (LW) -  Rowan O’Beirne (C ) - Mercedes bayle (RW)
Boho Biscuit  (LD) -  Guy Incognito (RD)

2nd line (Third forward line moved up and the defensive pairing up too and a new player on LD)
Ana parast  (LW) -  Masataka Ninomiya (C ) -  Future considerations (RW)
Troy McClure III (LD) - Mikkel Enevoldsen (RD)

3rd line (2nd forward and defensive pairs down)
Red Panda (LW) -  Masataka Ninomiya (C ) -  Adrians Skalbergs (RW)
Phillipe Le Bel (LD) - Bartholomew Chungus Gingersnap II (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No change)
       Just-To-Buy-My-Love (LW) - Mac Turner (C )
Boho Biscuit (LD) - Guy Incognito (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (No change)
Just-To-Buy-My-Love (LW) - Rowan O’Beirne  (C ) - Mercedes Bayle (RW)
Mikkel Enevoldsen (LD) - Guy Incognito (RD)

Colorado Raptors [Image: 3Y9JMuCfDT8uBD7-LfrxjAU66YTZyn53DHVXb5Ho...GMwVez58x8]

Well I thought the preseason could prove that they could be in the top 10 or even 5 if their forwards could pop off, but this proves that the preseason means nothing. I know this is another double L for me but I don’t even care any more. The season for Colorado could have gotten worse I could say but it isn’t any better than what I expected from this Raptors team. The start of the season for the Raptors started the tone throughout the season. Something positive that I could find is how many takeaways the team got, they are first out of all the teams but I think we proved that the giveaways and takeaways are useless so not so good as a positive but at least they have one. The negatives are going to be full unfortunately though, to start their penalty kill percentage is third last with 77.74% which is shown by the less defensively minded team they are. They always have been an offensive team though which could help when the team can perform their 100 percent but that’s not the case. They also have the second worst goals against to goals for in the league with -58 majorly above Great Falls though which proves why they're bad like all the other bottom feeders. My guess for this team this year was 30 to 35 wins with a major jump back from the bottom to the middle of the pack but I was off by 3 and another L. My other guess for the point leader was Xavier Beausoleil with a huge margin between 60 to 90, well I can’t really give a W to that though because that just feels like cheating but I got the player right again. Double L’s Here’s Colorado’s lines;

1st line (5 on 5) (Update portal up)
Jussi Mutou  (LW) -  Shadow Fenix (C ) - Xavier Beausoleil (RW)
Update Portal  (LD) -  Nick Smith (RD)

2nd line (Liam Rogers down)
James MacAvoy  (LW) -  Derek Kong (C ) - Leonard Wood (RW)
Liam Rogers (LD) - Valerija Serapin (RD)

3rd line (Glentsky instead of Anderson which isn’t even in the J anymore I think or just a name change or I’m just dumb and I put a random name in there last time)
Nick Kodiak (LW) -  Wayne Glentsky (C ) -  Brandon Gilleyes (RW)
Napoleon Dinklage (LD) - Oranj Konhe (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No change)
Shadow Fenix (LW) - Nick Kodiak (C )
Liam Rodgers (LD) - Nick Smith (RD)

1st line (5 on 4 power play) (Rodgers instead of Portal)
Jussi Mutou  (LW) -  Shadow Fenix (C ) - Xavier Beausoleil (RW)
Update Portal  (LD) -  Nick Smith (RD)

Detroit Falcons [Image: FCmb_x48G7Cys14pnbhNqq01W33fVbEj3hLMdauB..._vobYQPi6w] :

A preseason surprise and the team kind of proved it, being 8th in the league and having their rebuild complete and now to a team to look out for next season. The Skree is not my thing but congrats on them for doing something instead of getting last in the whole league. And a fun team to be in as well I imagine, I can imagine the team spamming Skree any time they win a game. Can somebody prove that? But getting back on track, the team is doing a lot better than they were when they were bottom of the bottom of the league. A positive to this young core of players is that they're in the middle in the teams that’s ahead or behind the Falcons when it comes to statistics such as PPs or PKs. Maybe except for takeaways and giveaways but it doesn’t matter anyways. They look a little physical in the hitting department as well. Going into the negative side, the Detroit team has a negative goal record which is concerning for a team trying to improve but it’s only -16 anyways, at least Nefoundland has a -11. Detroit also looks like an offensive team but also like they're trying to be defensive at the same time which is hurting their point production and defense for a developing team like this. Nothing else to say after that, that is a major problem for the team so let’s get right into the predictions. The prediction I got for the season that the Detroit Falcons would have was this time I was right on and said 33 and that’s another L. Detroit got 2 less wins but still is a solid prediction. The point leader for the team I said was The Murray with 50-60 points. The pick aged like milk, not the right person or not even in between the two numbers, it was Trevor Lahey with 76. Double L’s and here’s Detroit's lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (No change)
The Murray (LW) -  Trevor Lahey (C ) - Prince Marius (RW)
Zedward Zilliams  (LD) -  Dunkler Sowerwine (RD)

2nd line (No change)
Will Tomlander (LW) -  Luma Lee (C ) - Kenny Omega (RW)
Simo Jaaskelainen  (LD) - Mephistopheles Morgonstjarna (RD)

3rd line (Martins Preide retired I think so they have Gavin Harrison now)
Marek Carda (LW) -  Emil Karlsson (C ) -  Mike Babcock (RW)
Stormlord Imotekh (LD) - Gavin Harrison (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (The same)
Prince Marius (LW) - Emil Karlsson (C )
Zedward Zilliams (LD) - Dunkler Sowerwine (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (Marek Carda instead of Luma Lee)
The Murray (LW) - Trevor Lehey (C ) - Prince marius (RW)
Marek Carda (LD) - Mephistopheles Morgonstjarna (RD)

Yukon Malamutes [Image: 5h34B_dE3zf0Bj4ps3SEO06n6fstRAhsqxZybxCN...EHIvg_4fNU]

The Malamutes was tied with Detroit in the preseason but got 10th in the league in the regular season instead. The Malamutes have been a bottom or middle team for quite a bit now, not really finding the team that could dominate the league, but also finding that kind of team is really hard to be fair. This team is full of talent for example players like Theodore Svatos or Jordan Tanner and many more, but the problem comes when the team can’t manage and spread the message to all of the teams that they are a menacing team to go against. Turning away from the negative messages for a minute, let's talk about the positives of this Malamutes team. I think they might have one of the best or the best defensive minded cores in the league for this season because of their PK, with the highest percentage of penalties killed with 84.1% or 169 out of 201 penalties killed. The total of 201 penalties might look unimpressive to kill, but that’s when another positive comes in which is because they’re a disciplined team. Even though they're not as impressive as an example of the Nevada Battleborn with a larger number of penalties, what is impressive is that when they do cause a penalty they don’t get punished too often.Which might be the factor of winning the cup. But now into the negatives again, it is the opposite matter of the positives. The Malamutes have not been producing enough points even if they are killing off penalties. If they are at a big disadvantage in goals they might not come back and bounce back as some other teams. Also what’s really concerning is the plus minus of this team and what that might show. When looking at this Yukon team, the top to the bottom is filled with negatives with the worst being -20. The answer to this might be because of the less point producing styles they are, they might be good at preventing penalties on 4 on 5s but they are not good at keeping the puck away from crossing the line in 5 on 5. Something that we might be seeing on this team is a more offensive style instead in the future after the big players leave. Now going into the predictions, I predicted that the Malamutes would have… Actually nevermind let’s go to the player prediction. I predicted that the player with the most points would be between Theodore Svatos, Jordan Tanner or Bobby Tkachucky with one of them having between 80 to 90 points. That’s a L and that’s all I’m going to say. Here’s the lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (Florian Soderberg-Motyla moved up from the 2nd)
  Jordan Tanner -  Florian Soderberg-Motyla (C ) - Theodore Svatos (RW)
Kristian Seppanen  (LD) -  Furious Chicken (RD)

2nd line (Squidwardo Tentacles is up and is LW, Tony Blundetto is playing for RW and Karlo Koivunen moved up replacing the great Khali.
Squidwardo Tentacles (LW) -  Bobby Tkachucky (C ) - Tony Blundetto (RW)
Jaxson Reaper (LD) - The great Khali Karlo Koivunen(RD)

3rd line (Langston hardison- Laurent is now a RW, Fred Bread is LW, Lightning Mcqueen is now not in the team, and Khali and Campbell switched positions)
Fred Bread (LW) -  Vyacheslav Shevchenko (C ) -  Langston hardison- Laurent(RW)
The great Khali (LD) -  Newton Campbell (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No change)
Jordan Tanner (LW) - Theodore Svatos (C )
Kristian Seppanen (LD) - Furious Chicken (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (Squidwardo Tentacles replaces Tanner for LW and Tanner goes to LD which replaces Fred Bread, Florian Soderberg-Motyla is now center instead and replaces Tkachucky and and is replaced by Svatos in RW, and finally Kristian Seppanen replaces Furious Chicken for RD)
Squidwardo Tentacles (LW) - Florian Soderberg-Motyla (C ) - Theodore Svatos (RW)
Jordan Tanner (LD) - Kristian Seppanen (RD)

Quebec City Citadelles [Image: oERzamC81q1_1Q2VO6T1MIYboXtoFEdFkduAA_iA...jAdMh7KlDw]

Okay, I was not enthusiastic about Quebec in the last article. In the preseason they finished tied with both Detroit and the Malamutes, but for the regular season they got better than both at 7th place. And I wasn’t ready to take in the offense this team could produce. Again I underestimated a team. Starting with the positives, like I said earlier their offense is absolutely booming. With being the third best team when it comes to goals for, this team is coming out with a big W in the regular season. The team is from top to bottom clicking with offense, for this team they’re the Edmonton Oilers (last seasons NHL team to be exact) or the Winnipeg Aurora with the strategy of scoring more than the other team can until the buzzer beats and the timer goes to zero. With this amount of offense of course they are third for the best powerplay as well. An all rounded offense like that with a superstar is what many teams dream for. But a problem that sometimes comes from an excellent offense is the opposite which is defense. Not only is their goalie stats below average, all of the things that include the word defense is almost non-existent. Firstly, their goalie has a 0.896 SV% and a 3.9 GAA which indicates that their defense is doing something wrong or that the goalie can’t save a beach ball. But I think it is an even trade between the starting goaltender and the defense. One evidence is that the goalies' history percentages are not the best, and that the backups are doing a better job than the starter is. Their defense is bad because their PK is 4th worst in the league with 77.7%. If their defense in general can’t improve, then playoff hopes are gone in the next few seasons with this season losing in 5 games against the Detroit Falcons. My prediction for the record for this team was 1 or 2 more wins than what they had, which was 30, but I underestimated another team and the Citadelles got 4 more instead. For the player prediction I said it would be Jeff Hunziker with 60 to 80, but that point prediction was way off with Hunziker being the best player in the J with 103 points. At least I got the player right. Double L’s again. Here’s Quebec’s lineup:

1st line (5 on 5) (Lean on (Coconut Mall) switched positions and is now LW from RD replaces Celeste Desjardins and Juan Tymer from the second line moves up)
Lean on (Coconut Mall) (LW) -  Jeff Hunziker (C ) - Ryland Murphy (RW)
Jaromir Jagrbomb (LD) -  Juan Tymer (RD)

2nd line (Nico Nurminen moves up and replaces Sonja Solberg, celeste Desjardins replaces Shawn Pawn in the RW and Johnny Patey V2 is the replacement for Juan Tymer)
Nico Nurminen (LW) -  Froya Solberg (C ) - Celeste Desjardins (RW)
Leo Roze (LD) - Johnny Patey V2 (RD)

3rd line (Switchings and new players got too lazy)
Tom Sperado (LW) -  Sonja Solberg (C ) -   Shawn Pawn (RW)
Abdi Smokes (LD) - Michael Rappaz-Creek (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (The Solbergs are in the top)
Froya Solberg (LW) - Sonja Solberg (C )
Leo Roze (LD) - Juan Tymer (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (No Change)
 Celeste Desjardins (LW) - Jeff Hunziker (C ) - Sonja Solberg(RW)
Jaromir Jagrbomb (LD) - lean on (Coconut Mall) (RD)

Great Falls Grizzlies [Image: YxeSPH-eigV6iyPmReaAcRUjwx713NpZ7_J_knKP...fE5rQLJoc4]  :

It’s surprising how high up the Grizzlies were in the preseason compared to the regular season's results. This team is a little confusing right now, not just with the playoffs but also with what position or style this team wants to be in for their future. Of course they are a bad team, and it's acceptable to have no gameplan but I can’t see the future of this team when all of their stars leave, maybe I’m just mistaken like all my other predictions so far but it might take way more seasons because all of their biggest players are leaving next season. For their positives, it is a little bit more different than others which is that they are having playoff success. For a team this bad, and probably getting the first overall pick, getting a win in the playoffs is a miracle but also having one win away against the best team in the league to advance to the semis is crazy. If the best players of this team leaves the team and they still have playoff success then I think they might have a team upcoming that might be in the top leagues. But for the negatives, even though they are tanking for the first rounder, it is still very disappointing that they still haven’t improved as much as I thought they would, with first rounder from first rounder I thought this would be the year they would bounce back. With almost the last of everything I don’t really want to say anymore. But I do see a future with these players like Jae-Ik-Barron or Poiklm. My guess was at least 30 wins this year. Maybe it's their game plan that’s letting them only win 24 again but I don’t think this was my fault generally. I said the best player of this team would be Levin Schattenauxt but it would be Jae-Ik Barron with 64 points. Double L’s and here's the lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (No changes)
Andren Akerson (LW) -  Jani Manty (C ) - levin Schattenaxt (RW)
Billy Hill (LD) -  Arnost Hlemyzd (RD)

2nd line (No change)
 Andre Latreille (LW) -  Jae-Ik Barron (C ) - Gordon-Williams Gibbles (RW)
Peanut (LD) - RIP thunderdome 2013-2023 (RD)

3rd line (No change)
Austin Dodd (LW) -  Poiklm (C ) -  Brandon Strongstick (RW)
Bryson Basham (LD) - Oskar Samuelsson (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (Replacements)
Levin Schattenauxt (LW) - Andren Akerson (C )
Billy Hill (LD) - Peanut (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (Billy Hill in RD instead)
Andren Akerson (LW) - Jae-Ik Barron (C ) - Levin Schattenaxt (RW)

Kelowna Knights  [Image: HE6yx5sZsXS78tG9cHQoA6gtw4Rp-vxcPJDiGvUB...Y2iXJkaJks]

Disappointing for me, my teammates and GMs, I mean I knew that we wouldn’t have the best season but this was just unexpected. I know it’s my team and I’m biased as hell, but to be fair we should have done way better with the TPE average our team had. Maybe the line chemistry was bad, maybe it was the defense or the missing piece of Logan Webb. But I remember Artermis saying that he tried to make the lines more realistic, but it didn’t work out and the sim thought of it differently. I think it was because of all the roles that our team had, I had a sniper role which I think isn’t good in the center anymore and there are more rare roles as well. Maybe we should have been boring and kept Gretzky's Office at all of the centers and sniper and playmakers or two way forwards but that’s all in the past anyways. Same with the Grizzlies I will be saying the positive things that this team might offer in the future. A lot of very good players such as Arthur Kaliyev, Activity Check, Daniel Durkburg might explode next season even without my player or Crystal Mcleod. All of the rookies seem to have pretty good seasons with us too and if we can produce more then I think the team can become a top notch team. The defense might be questionable with not a lot of points, but I see a path that they are way more defensive than offensive like they are right now. Maybe a good draft might save them with defense producing. And the GM’s are pretty good at finding these kinds of players anyways. The offense has to improve too, but if the core three forwards can produce points efficiently, the others would definitely follow their footsteps and make the team even better. The Kelowna Knights just has to fix up their defense and offense just a little bit more and experiment with chemistry to become a team not to mess with and I hope they can turn out like that. I expected too much from the team and I said 35 to 40 wins which was a long shot because we beat the Grizzlies in standings from the last few games. And I said Kevin Kim would have the most amount of points with 60 to 90 but that was all on me and my player. Sad to say but a double L for my predictions on the Kelowna Knights. Here’s their lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (Jonas Salat replacing Ho-lee smokes)
Arthur Kaliev (LW) -  Activity Check (C ) - Daniel Durkburg (RW)
Jonas Salat (LD) - Brooklyn Physt (RD)

2nd line (Pablo Icecreambar moved up and replaced Jonas Salat)
Jerry Moonshine (LW) -  Kevin Kim (C ) - Crystal Mcleod (RW)
Rocky Orwell (LD) - Pablo Icecreambar (RD)

3rd line (Replacement for Pablo Icecreambar was Sean Bird)
Trey Daniels (LW) -  Rodrigo banes (C ) -  David Soupre (RW)
Sean Bird (LD) - Paul Bondage (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No change)
      Activity Check (LW) - Arthur Kaliev(C )
Rocky Orwell (LD) - Pablo Icecreambar (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (No change)
Activity check (LW) - Daniel Durkburg (C ) - Kevin Kim (RW)
Arthur Kaliev (LD) - Brooklyn Physt (RD)

Vancouver Whalers [Image: zKkal-PRKLtqjazLHUIijQtHGt3uGIQH0C9gFLsy...MjWD2TH_6M]

I think the Vancouver Whalers fluked us by being so bad in the preseason, again I know that the preseason is useless but still, most teams that do well or bad in the preseason usually get that kind of placement. But no, the whalers really wanted to trick us by not even trying in the preseason and trying hard on the regular season. All good teams have evenly distributed defense and offense throughout the team and the Whalers are not different. If a team is better than Maine in the standings, they’re a big cup contender. There are so many positives of this team that I can’t really say it all but what I can say is the most helping in the playoffs. One thing that could really help this team in the playoffs is their goaltending. Their goaltender, Scary Jerry was always the same as any other goalie with a 3.0 or above GAA but this season, Scary got a 2.49 and a 0.918 for his save percentage. He really stepped it up and will help tremendously if he brings that confidence up to the playoffs. Another big step they took from last season was their defense. Last season they let in 221 goals which was absolutely incredible but for this season they took it up a notch and only let in 178. It could have been the lack of scoring from the league than the last few seasons but it’s still flabbergasting to see that number go that low. One negative I have to point out is how many giveaways they are giving to the opposing team. With them being in the top of the league in giveaways behind Nevada, it is a little bit confusing. I don’t get how the good teams get the most amount of takeaways and the best the least, maybe it's because the good teams stay in the opposing teams zone for too long. My prediction for this team's season was that they would still be good after this horrid preseason, because of that absolute master class season in S72 with 43 wins I thought they would get really close, worse or better. But they turned out to be way better than I expected with 47 wins, can’t say I’m mad about this L. For the leader I predicted that Inactive forever would have 70 points at least so does that count? Whatever I need to have a break anyways here’s my first W in ages. One W and one L. Here’s the Vancouver Whalers lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (No change)
Johnny Fourstar (LW) -  Thomas Liebold (C ) - Inactive Forever (RW)
Bellamy Blake (LD) - Bob Wehadababyitsaboy (RD)

2nd line (Aumy Junior II for Scott Seitz)
Aumy Junior II (LW) -  Colt Fox (C ) - Nick Larsson (RW)
Jaden tanner (LD) - Ryan Quinttana-Green (RD)

3rd line (Scott Seitz replaces Remington Richarldson III for RD)
Lily Jin Morrow (LW) -  GM’s son (C ) -  Erno Joonas (RW)
Graham Schwartz (LD) - Scott Seitz (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No Change)
       GM’s son (LW) - Lily Jin Morrow  (C )
Jaden Tanner (LD) - Bob Whehadababyitsaboy (RD)

Power Play line (5 on 4) first line
Johnny Fourstar (LW) -  Thomas Liebold (C ) - Lily Jin Morrow
Bellamy Blake (RD - Nick Larsson (LD)

Nevada Battleborn [Image: 6Fopt98xlATptAT5vnpOpwUhTyZ0-w2DFKyZz11E...6kgA0i9y-4] :

Well my opinions always backfire on me. I said Nevada fell down from grace which means my prediction was horrible for the record. The Nevada Battleborn was good from the start when I joined the league, and you can see that I was in this league at least for a year and that’s really crazy how the Battleborn are still going. Even without their stars like Bender Junior or Ace Lightning, the offense still boomed. Now it’s Thomas Sawchuck who takes the shine. It’s not like Nevada’s defense is bad either. The positives flow down like a sled going down an icy hill. Nevada in these last few seasons are always known as the definition of offense. With there always being a superstar who always leads their team into victory. The Nevada Battleborn was surprisingly 5th in goals for, maybe after the loss of Bender Junior their offense took a step back. Another really impressive stat that Nevada dominated was in PK, just second from the Malamutes their PK was only 0.2 better with Nevada having 319 penalties and killing 265. The negatives come when there is an outlier between the three best players in the team and the rest of the team. After the three 90 point players the scoring drops right to 50 which means that those three players are getting the most points for the team when on the ice and are the most reliable. But what happens when they aren’t on the ice for a period of time, it means that the others can’t score and eventually let goals in. The Nevada Battleborn’s also have the worst amount of giveaways in the league with 701. Which could indicate to the bottom liners giving away the puck to the opposing team, or that the star players are playing too much and are getting tired too quickly. Looking at the other teams, there isn’t such a gap between the stars and the depth players in teams that are better than Nevada. My prediction is that those are the reasons that this Nevada team can’t keep up with the top teams. For the record I said they would drop a considerable amount to the 30 to 35 range. It didn't happen but it might actually happen after the star players leave. For the leading player, it was quite obvious for the player with Thomas Sawschuck with 70 to 100 points, but I didn’t know that he would get 2 more than 100. Double L’s and well here’s their lines:

1st line (5 on 5 Power play included) (No Change)
Aksel VINsen (LW) -  Thomas Sawschuck (C ) - Brock Samson (RW)
Shnopple lopple (LD) -  I-stirr mypudding (RD)

2nd line (No Change)
Cal Juice (LW) -  patrick Meyer (C ) - Carl Hatchimal (RW)
Sergey Ivanov  (LD) - unspeakable Horrors (RD)

3rd line (No Change)
Petr Puklington (LW) -  Colin Zwiers (C ) -  jake Berry (RW)
Shaggy Bear (LD) - Milk Jones (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No change)
Brock Smason (LW) - Thomas Sawschuck (C )
Shnopple lopple (LD) - I-stir Mypudding (RD)

Carolina Kraken [Image: nP6QSkmqolOaNBrB1rM0wteGGoAl020IMNjaKo7O...SEk0FQ3OGQ] :

Well this was unexpected, for the preseason going so bad and not improving like Vancouver did. I really thought this scary Kraken team could do it again, but the preseason proved it all. The preseason proves some teams futures and some not, on this occasion the preseason proved the Kraken’s future. Maybe it’s because of some pieces moving up to the SHL or bad line chemistry  but this team just couldn’t score if their season was dependent on it. I know that the league and the teams in it have changed this season a little with all of them being more defensive, but some teams succeed on scoring and some don't. Carolina is one example of this. My guess is that they couldn’t have got out of their own zone and didn’t produce enough offense for them to do anything except defend. I knew that the Kraken would have a rebuild soon or later but I thought this was at least one of their last seasons being at the top. But I guess they're starting now. For the positives, I can see a lot of potential in some players, like Cob O’Corn with 7 points in 14 games or Betzee Nickelback and 46 points. If these kinds of players can really build their team up to a respectable team, then I think that would be a success. For the negatives it’s their top players. Their offense is the third worst in the league, and I really thought their biggest players like Filip Svatos or Alexej Kastrbra could produce enough points to get them over 0.500 but I guess I was mistaken. The only place they produced points was in the powerplay but you can’t depend on penalties to win games. Their defense is questionable as well, with one of the worst PKs in the league and they didn’t even have that many penalties either. Maybe their depth is bad, and is probably the reasoning why they are losing so many games. The only thing we can hope for Carolina is for them to have great drafts and their players to develop their games into great offensive and defensive minds. I said that they would have around the same amount of wins as they had in S72 but that didn’t seem to be true. I said that Alexej would have the most points in the team with 60 to 90 which wasn’t even close, not the right player and not in between the numbers either. Double L’s. And here’s their lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (Betzee Nickelback up and replaces Aumy JR II and Svatos is RW now with Kastrba being LW)
Alexej Kastrba (LW) -  Betzee Nickelback (C ) - Filip Svatos (RW)
Lazer Gato (LD) -  Westley Kirkpatrick (RD)

2nd line (Cob O’Corn for Matt Stro, Rence Sykut for Betzee Nickelback, Roger Murdock replaces Rence, Alexandros Mograine replaces Roger Murdock, Chris Robertson moves up.)
 Cob O’Corn  (LW) -  Rence Sykut (C ) - Alexandros Mograine (RW)
Roger Murdock (LD) - Chris Robertson (RD)

3rd line (Walter Melon and David Grimes switched, Lilian Flapberg in LD, and Dalton Canders is on RD)
Walter Melon (LW) -  Dag-Otto Bjorn (C ) -  David Grimes (RW)
Lilian Flapberg (LD) - Dalton Canders (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (Alexej Kastrbra switched with Betzee Nickelback)
Alexej Kastrbra (LW) - Betzee Nickelback (C )
Lazer Gato (LD) - Westley Kirkpatrick (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (Betzee replaces Aumy Junior II)
Filip Svatos (LW) - Betzee Nickelback (C ) - Alexej Kastrbra (RW)
Alexandros Mograine - Westley Kirkpatrick (RD)

St. Louis Scarecrows [Image: 1ALwWjKh9RTQCUXNh5vBzE4MsBCPfCkeFaWessGb...WOA6rIYUcg]

The Fourstar cup to 9th place and last in the league in the preseason. I guess St. Louis won’t be a dynasty. I really don’t know what happened to this team, was it like Carolina and everyone who were depth pieces just left or is it because all the Scarecrows depth pieces went up to the SHL. I know it’s all worth it for a cup but can’t you be like Maine and go for it every year until you actually need a rebuild. When I first started in the league, St. Louis was shit and after some seasons they climbed up to be a dominant team not to be messed with and eventually won the cup. And now they dropped down to 9th? Maybe it's because of the defensive changes throughout the league, but all the other good teams recovered easily. Maybe it is just that all the big TPE players just went up and now down there are all players still having a lot to learn. Some positives is that they aren’t as bad offensively than some other bottom teams, they still have a play in the 70s and everyone is included. Their PK is good also. But going into the negatives, I won’t talk too much, but one big issue is the PP percentage with the Scarecrows being last in the league with 15% exactly. I don’t know if this is a negative but they are the second best team with the most takeaways, and all the bad teams are on the top so I don’t know. Well for this team I predicted they would get last in the league but they were good enough to not do that gladly. For the leading player of the St. Louis Scarecrows, I said it would be Crazy Tomato with no specific number like half of that article. But in the end Dominik did get the most points with 71. Double L’s again. Here’s the final lines:

1st line (5 on 5) (No Change)
Marshall Maddens (LW) -  Dominik Winters (C ) - Konig Wolf (RW)
Arturri Leppalainen (LD) - Bog Damsel (RD)

2nd line (Kellen Watkins up and replaces Dom Pongston)
Kellen Watkins (LW) -  Crazy Tomato (C ) - Axel Hamalainen (RW)
Dee Fence (LD) - Jean Luc Leduc (RD)

3rd line (Average Dude replaces Kellen Watkins, Jimothee Penjiman replaces Thor Odinsson, and Dom Pongston replaces Zhang Liao)
Average Dude (LW) - Sunrise van de Schubbekutteveen (C ) -  Bobby Bob (RW)
Jimothee Penjiman (LD) - Dom Pongston (RD)

Power Kill line (4 on 5) First line (No Change)
Sunrise van de Schubbekutteveen (LW) - Dominik Winters (C )
Arturri Leppalainen (LD) - Jean Luc Leduc (RD)

Powerplay (5 on 4) First line (Sunrise van de Schubbekutteveen replaces Crazy Tomato)
Konig Wolf (LW) - Dominik Winters (C ) - Sunrise van de Schubbekutteveen (RW)
Arturri Leppalainen (LD) - Bog Damsel (RD)
Goalies: Kyle Baretto, Mr. Plow

Well firstly I know that nobody would read this fully but people who got the idea I am thankful for. In the end I got 12 double L’s or 26 L’s (Plus one from Vancouver and Yukon) and 2 W’s. This is probably one of the last articles I do on the SMJHL media but maybe I would do something after the J playoffs but probably not because of the annoying Championship Week and the All Star thing that I need to do. I’m enjoying these kinds of articles so I will be doing these predictions then looking at the season kind of articles in the SHL media. Well I hope you enjoyed my article and now I have to check this whole article to see if I made any mistakes. Thanks to everyone in the SMJHL, especially Kelowna but also everyone who went against me. I really appreciate it, I hope I can go against you all in the WJC for the last time.  Heart
