Welcome to part 2 of looking at the drafts of the team of the week, this week the spotlight is on the Manhattan Rage. For the rules, please go back to the first article (Edmonton Blizzards).
Where Edmonton only had 29 players drafted, the Manhattan Rage drafted a total of 48 players, so a lot more to look at.Sadly of these 48, only 32 are in the index, which means the other 16 players won’t be taken into account for some of the graphs. Let’s start off with the season the drafts took place in. Immediately obvious is the giant amount of players in season 62, with 12 players that were drafted. S71 and S72 both saw 7 players joining, with the most recent season in S75, together with S65 and S64 having 4 players, other seasons where S73 (3), S74/70 (2), and S68/67/63 (1). Next up is the round in which the Manhattan Rage likes to draft their players. Immediately obvious is that of their 48 players, 36 were drafted in the first 2 rounds, with 21 being drafted in the 2nd round, and the other 15 in the 1st. The other 12 players saw 10 being drafted in the 3rd round, and 2 in the 4th round. Now we got onto the sections where the 16 players not in the portal anymore won’t be taken into account. First off, the position that the Manhattan Rage likes to draft. It is quite a mixed bag, with most positions being pretty equal, RD being the most picked position with 7 players, and both RW and LD being the lowest picked position with 4 each. The other picks existed out of 5 goalies, 6 centers, and 6 left wingers. Before going onto the J-rounds, of these 32 players 4 came into the SHJML from the waiver draft, instead of from the J-draft.These obviously won’t be taken into account for the rounds. Onto the J-league draft. The Manhattan Rage once again sees most of their players coming from the 2nd round of the J-round, this round containing 13 out of 28 players, the next highest is the 1st round with 9. The other 6 players see 4 coming from the 3rd round, and 1 coming from both the 4th and 5th round. The Manhattan Rage sees their players coming from quite a few J-teams, with both the Carolina Kraken, the Maine Timber, and Quebec City Citadelles being the highest delivering teams, with 5 players each. There is only 1 team with 4 players this being the Nevada Battleborn. For 3 players we have the Regina Elk, and with 2 we have the Anchorage Armada, and the Great Falls Grizzlies. Finally the Manhattan Rage drafted 1 player from the Colorado Raptors, Detroit Falcons, Kelowna Knights, Newfoundland Berserkers, St. Louis Scarecrows, and the Yukon Malamutes (/Anaheim Outlaws). That was it for the Manhattan Rage draftees. But like last time a nice graph follows that shows the J-team origins for all teams done so far, which in this case are the Manhattan Rage, and the Edmonton Blizzards. Nice one again. Looking forward to more of those articles. It will be interesting to compare all of them when we're done with all teams.
