Willie Weber
@snipealldaylong

A journeyman defenseman. Putting up 638 points in 1015 games played. He is one of only a couple players to ever hit the 1000 game mark. Which is especially impressive in STHS times, with 50 game seasons. Even more impressive doing it in the earlier seasons, as careers were shorter, and seasons in general IRL were longer. Winning 2 cups with Edmonton and 1 with New England. Weber is one of the rare top defensemen to move teams in his prime.

Starting off drafted 2nd OA to Winnipeg in S9. He made his debut the same season, getting 3 goals, 21 assists for 24 points that season. Earning himself a Ryan Jesster nomination, and an all star team to go along with it. Playing on a bad Winnipeg team he had plenty of ice time for a rookie, making him one of the rare ones to play well enough for a Jesster nomination.
S10 he put up similar numbers. 7 goals, 22 assists for 29 points. S11 is when he finally broke out. In 44 games played, Weber put up 9 goals and 32 assists for 41 points. Being on the 1st line,Weber has gotten off to a fantastic start.

S12 and S13 however, things started to slow down. Only getting 32 points and 24 points respectively, something will need to change in order to get him even close to being one of the best players in the SHL.

S14 happened, and is the first of many awards. Breaking out again it seems like. Weber was on an absolute tear. 21 goals and 26 assists for 47 points. 21 goals as a defenseman is crazy. Along with 110 hits and 71 shots blocks as well. This earned Weber his first of many Scott Steven nominations. As well as an Aidan Richan nomination for most improved as well.

In the offseason of S14 -> S15, a trade happened, sending Weber to Edmonton. With the trade being Edmonton getting Willie Weber and cash considerations. Winnipeg getting Randy Bobandy, James Neugsbaur, S16 EDM 1st, S17 LAP 2nd.

S15 was the peak of Weber's abilities. Being on a new team, and Edmonton in the middle of being competitive saw Weber scoring 14 goals, 35 assists for 49 points. The highest of his career so far. For the career high, Weber received his first Scott Stevens Win as well, for best defenseman. In addition, if you know your SHL history, Weber won his first cup as well with Edmonton.
S16 showed a step back in form from Weber. 14 goals, but only 19 assist for 33 points. But, Edmonton went to back to back cups, with Weber getting his 2nd one of his career. In the playoffs too, he popped off, earning him an Anton Razov nomination for playoff MVP.
S19 also saw Weber get his 3rd Scott Stevens nom, and 2nd all star team.

In Season 20 saw Weber move from Edmonton to New England in free agency. As we can tell in the signing Thread , GM Ace said
“We are incredibly excited to bring the best two-way defenseman in the SHL into the fold in New England. We are confident that his skills will be put to good use and he may be the piece that pushes us into a true contender for the Challenge Cup not only this season but for seasons to come.”
Being one of the best two-way defenseman he is. In S20 he put up 13 goals, 23 assists for 36 points. As well as 147 hits and 82 shots blocked, earning him a 2nd All Star Team. S21 saw him put up 6 goals, 34 assists for 40 points. 168 hits and 77 shots blocked, again a 2nd All Star Team.
S22 saw one last push at what made Weber an amazing SHL defenseman.  10 goals, 35 assists with 121 hits and 56 shots blocked. Earned Weber 1st All Star Team, as well as his 4th and final Scott Stevens nom.

S23 saw Weber win his final cup as a player. Making it his 3rd Cup For his career.
In the S24 off season he was moved to Toronto, a team trying to make a push for the cup as well. New England received 8th OA, 29th OA, S25 2nd, and a S25 3rd from Toronto. And Toronto received Willie Weber, Rights to Phil Schenn, and 3 mil in Cap in S24.

GM JNH of Toronto said “Extremely excited to add Weber and (potentially) Schenn to TOR. We've got a very good young team looking towards next season and the addition of two very good vets should give us that extra push we need. Can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring!”

But as Weber is aging, he wasn't the player like he used to be.
S24-S26 showed Weber playing 152 games, 17 goals, 61 assists, for 78 points. So with that, Toronto sent Weber to Manhattan for his final 3 seasons.
Finally in S29, Weber called it a career. With 1015 games played, 188 points, 450 assists, and 638 points. Not to mention 3169 hits, and 1190 shots blocked.
When he retired he was 2nd in points by a defenseman. 1st in goals by a defenseman. 2nd in hits by Skaters(1st by defenseman), and 2nd in shots blocked. He was also one of the rare players to reach over 3000+ hits, and the 2nd player to do so. Very much a two-way star defensemen.
