Hockey. Pucks. Goalies. Pads. Masks..
#1

Hear me out here, okey?
So, in hockey we have goalies? What do those goalies have? They have masks.
The mask is there to protect the goalie, to make him feel brave infront of the puck, but alas! There is a flaw with the mask and that flaw is the grate.
It obstructs your vision and you need that vision to grab those flying saucers. I think so atleast, I'm not a goalie, but it all seems logical.
So what is my solution to all this? Well, I was watching a video about hockey pads(here's the link if you care https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DofUA0Hm9M8) and somewhere
there in the middle of it, they show a old goalie mask that is completely made of plexi or some other clear plastic.
This got me thinking, why aren't they using clear plexi on the current goalie mask?
That thing can stop small caliber bullets and shrapnel, surely it can stop a puck safely.
Funnily enough, while googling the picture, someone else had asked the same question: why no clear mask?

(Picture of a similar old mask)
Is the problem that they'd fog up too much? Surely not, we have coatings for glasses that stop fogging.
You could also place the plexi on some slight standoffs, so there'd be a gap between the plastic and mask for air to circulate.
You could also drill some holes for additional airflow. You're also probably worried about scratches and possible cracking, aren't you?
Not a problem! You can make these things incredibly scratch resistant and if it cracks, all you gotta do is screw it out and replace!
If all this isn't enough, CCM sells these goalie mask masks that I imagine would help
even more by trapping some of that humidity(also gives you that cool guy mysterious aura).

So I present to you, my WIP design of the goalie mask of the future.

Ta-daa!
This is the Jadberg Vizor!
And uhh, apparently a company in Czechia has already designed a very similar mask for floorball..
But hey, this is good news for us, it shows that the idea is applicable to atleast floorball and those games
can get hot and heavy just like hockey can.

Not sure my goalie would use that in a real game, but maybe in the All-Star skills competition??

I can understand players that prefer a visor over a grid, but for goalies, it's the complete opposite.

There's a reason for that they don't use the clear masks so you can see their whole face. Cuz the goalies be UGLY.
