It's time to look at what the Great Falls Grizzlies did with the Season 77 SMJHL Entry Draft.
With the 10th Overall Pick, The Great Falls Grizzlies Select: Solaire of Astora, @Muford The first pick off the board is Defensive Defenseman, Solaire of Astora. Solaire is a unit of a man, standing at 6'11 and weighing in at 300 pounds. You can tell this man is ready to lay the lumber and take any and everyone out that comes close to him, (legally of course) and knows his way in the defensive end. At this point in time, he sits at 12s for Checking, Hitting, Positioning, Stick checking, Agility, Speed, and Strength. His lone 13 is in Shot Blocking, and 14s in Acceleration, Balance, and Stamina. His Offensive game is nothing to write home about, but since he's been drafted he has learned some sort of Puck handling (11) and the bare minimum of passing (10). As you can see, Solaire really loves his defense, but my goodness, is offense lost in this man. With the 23rd Overall Pick, The Great Falls Grizzlies Select: Jackass Pants, @luke The Grizzlies traded for this pick, and selected Jackass Pants, what a great name, am I right gang? Jackass Pants is quite the well rounded player, nothing sticks out great, and nothing is horrible for him either. He has 12s in Getting Open, Offensive Read, Puck handling, and Checking. He has 13s in Passing, Stick checking, Positioning, and Strength. Only 14 he has in Stamina. 11s In Shooting Accuracy, Faceoffs, Acceleration, Agility, Balance and Speed. As you can tell, as well as I've stated, Jackass Pants really is a jack of all trades, master of none for the Grizzlies. With the 25th Overall Pick, The Great Falls Grizzlies Select: Takagi Michio, @antmansc Another Pick, Another Left Defenseman for the Great Falls Grizzlies. Funny enough, Takagi Michio is a lot like Solaire, mostly a defensive player. His Offensive abilities are a bit more Polished overall then Solaire, with a 9 in passing, 14 in puck handling and a 6 in offensive read. His Defense is a bit lower then Solaires, only because he's worked more on the Offensive ned. But a 14 in Checking, 13 in Hitting, 12 in Positioning, 10 in Stick Checking, 11 in Shot Blocking and 12 in Defensive Read is quite well rounded. His Physical Ratings are a bit on the lower side, with 11s in Acceleration, Agility, and strength, and 10 in Speed, but man does he have the Stamina (14) and the Balance (14). With the 53rd Overall Pick, The Great Falls Grizzlies Select: Swan Ronson, @Joven Obviously, the Great Falls Grizzlies were struggling with defenseman, as they selected their 3rd Left Defenseman in the draft. Funny enough though, Ron Swanson is the quite the opposite, so to speak, of the first two defensemen taken, as he has quite a bit more work put in to the offensive side of things. With a 9 in Getting Open, Passing, Shooting Accuracy and Range, to go with a 12 in Puckhandling and a 7 in Offensive Read, he is the most talented offensive player of the 3. His Defense, while a bit behind the first two, is still quite respectable with a 13 in Shot Blocking, 12 in Checking, and 11 in Hitting, positioning, Defensive Read, and a 9 in Stick Checking. His Physical abilities are a bit lacking, with 10s in Acceleration, Agility, Balance, an 11 in Speed, a 12 in Fighting, a 13 in Strength and a strong 14 in Stamina. Overall, the Great Falls Grizzlies obviously needed defensive help, and they went out there and got it, especially with their first 2 defensemen picks. Their third is a more well rounded player, and we can't wait to see how they all play for the Grizzlies in the years to come. (649 words)
