Hello new players!

From the Trade Deadline to the posting of the first task completable for TPE, whether that be the Interested Prospects Threads, Early Bird PT, Mock Draft, etc., DFAs will be able to complete weekly DFA Bounties. These Bounties will function practically identically to PTs, but for money instead of TPE, and will be posted in this part of the forums. By writing 250 words or completing a graphic for a certain prompt, DFAs will earn $500,000 for their bank accounts, with a cap of 4 completed bounties ($2,000,000). You do not need to claim bounties anywhere, instead the money will be added to your bank account when the task is graded.

Written Option: Only the best of the best make it into the SMJHL. Junior players from all over the world come to this league in the hopes of being drafted, becoming a successful SMJHL player and continuing that success in the SHL. But we all have a history too. What is your history? Where did you play? How did you do? How did your career look so far, and what aspects of your player in their pre-SMJHL career is going to make your player succeed? (250 word min.)

Graphic Option: Pictures say more than a thousand words. Show us a pic of the young you, playing hockey. Include your player name and a render of your younger self, and at least one statline.

Reward: $500,000, for doing one of the options.

Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S78 SMJHL Draftees, SHL class of S79) are eligible for this bounty.

Deadline: Sunday, June 7th, at 11:59 PST.

Walbilly the koala wasn't always the energetic carnivore that he is today. Back before he played hockey, he'd laze about, being hand-fed eucalyptus branches. Life was nothing more than sleeping, eating, and defecating. Before tender meat met his taste buds, he was barely aware he was alive. One day, however, a bag from the fast-food chain White Castle (what Walbilly considers a delicacy now) was left out in front of him. He lethargically crawled into the bag, face-planting into chicken rings. He weakly recoiled but couldn't help but lick his lips clean of the crumbs on his muzzle.

The taste of meat gave rise to the rebirth of Walbilly. He became energetic and omnivorous with a preference for tantalizing meat (especially chicken). This let him do the activity he always wanted to do: play hockey.

He played in Wichita, Kansas, quickly becoming well-known in this town for being the first koala ever to aim high and do more than eat, sleep, and excrete. His preferred play style is a Speedy Forward in the left wing, and he wants nothing more than to HANDLE. THAT. PUCK. He specializes in his speed, agility, and acceleration, as his light little body allows him to glide across the ice with ease.

Walbilly excelled at the local hockey in his hometown and is certain the skills he has will translate to success in the SMJHL. He's far braver than the average koala and will happily risk a little danger for the sake of the team.

"Jauhnne here, I found an old photo my mom took during one of my high school hockey games. I'm the one in the middle in blue there, and my mom took the photo right as I was about to make a shot and well, the opposing team had other plans. Got right back up and continued playing cause hey, that's the game."

Hughes Incorporated began his hockey career in Jurmana, Latvia, where he was born about 18 years ago. He was born to two hockey-loving parents, both of which idolized the likes of Jaromir Jagr and Alexander Ovechkin. His parents brought Incorporated into hockey at a young age, where he started in pee-wee and junior leagues all throughout Latvia. Luckily, Latvia has a strong hockey culture, and he was excited to get started with the sport. However, then money got tight as it can be and his parents couldn’t afford to keep up his training at a sustainable pace. Therefore, they decided to call up friends they had at an academy in Germany which was very good with training young athletes in hockey as they went to middle school and high school. Incorporated enjoyed his time there as he learned a lot about hockey strategy and how to play the game well. Incorporated “incorporated” the lessons he learned excellently, becoming a star left winger and scoring lots of goals in the games he played. He became an all-star and in his last year of junior eligibility the league MVP of his high school league. But then he realized he needed to go to greener and bigger pastures, particularly as he got to college and beyond. And so he decided to throw his hat in the ring that was the SMJHL Draft, ready to start a new journey in a possibly foreign land. Incorporated was known for his rough and tough nature with other defenders, ready to take the puck away from incoming defenders, and he was also known for his keen eye for the hockey puck even if he was miles away. He would come to the perfect spot to receive a pass and score goals. He also loved to make great passes to open teammates to score points through assists and these qualities will make Incorporated a great player in the SMJHL.

Running, running, running, little Barcus was always running. Running home from daycare. Running onto his Grandma's porch on Sundays. At the first chiming of the ice cream truck: running. He was a tiny churning machine that never stopped moving.

The running seemed like it would consume the poor boy. His family fretted about what it was doing to him. Was this abnormal? Did he need to be treated for this? How long could they afford the cost of constantly replacing his running shoes?

One autumn the world tilted on its axis and Barcus stopped running. Instead, he started skating.

Freed from the chains of friction and the pounding shock of feet and shins on asphalt, Barcus learned to fly on ice. Again, he learned to never stop moving, this time on the rink. Gliding, whirling, exploding up the ice. The cold never slowed him, the snow never got in his way, the dark mornings and evenings never discouraged him.

And then when his father put a stick in his hands and threw a puck down the ice in front of him, Barcus started moving and never really stopped.

His passion for hockey was born on the neighbourhood rink down the street. Though he was faster than his friends, darting in and out and in between them, his beaming smile was infectious, and they all loved those countless hours spent together in the cold. He would move on to other teams and organizations and leagues, but the love of speeding down the ice never left him. It took him places it he could never have imagined, and his journey is now just beginning ...
