In a phenomenon that has become increasingly common in recent weeks, fans and players alike have reported having “dream-like” visions of SHL games. These reports talk about seeing the outcome of a game, only for the game to take place at a later time, but oftentimes with different results.

Theories have popped up trying to explain away these visions. Some speak of a hidden SHL agency putting chemicals in the water while others are more far-fetched, speaking of an error in “the file” necessitating a need for a “re-sim”, whatever that may be.

Concerns have surfaced in regards to how these visions differ from normal hallucinations. One fan we spoke to said “It would be fine if it was like a normal high and we all had different hallucinations, but I’ve spoken to five of my friends and we all had the same dream.” The fan went on to describe how he saw the outcome of multiple SHL games. He and his friends looked at the standings, and they were all in agreement about what happened. But then as if out of a horror story, they blinked, and the reality they once knew had changed.

“Take a look at Seattle,” an anonymous player said, “before we were looking at the rookie of the year race, and Tomlander was leading with 66 points. Fenix and Desjardins were behind with 56, and 53 points respectively. Then all of a sudden, I blinked and Tomlander was at 69 points, and Fenix was at 67. The next highest was at 53 points. It all just seems awfully suspicious to me. I know that I played those games before, and then suddenly I’m playing them again? My whole team experienced the same thing, how does that make sense?”

The timing certainly made our reporters raise an eyebrow. We couldn’t find any connections to the Seattle Argonauts administration on if they were somehow involved in this change in results, but given how one of their prospects greatly benefited from this situation, we had to reach out. “The Argonauts weren’t the only team to benefit from this situation,” a spokesperson for the Seattle Argonauts replied, “We saw results of a numerous amount of games across both the SHL, and SMJHL be changed. To imply that one franchise could be behind this is frankly absurd.”

Similar situations have been going out across multiple franchises that benefited from this “alternate timeline” situation, as some critics of the SHL have put it. In fact, there are so many groups that have benefited from this situation that it really is hard to point down a single figure that could be behind it. Many have pointed out that smoke and mirrors have been used in many similar situations to hide larger beneficiaries amongst many smaller cases.

SHL commissioner skoldpaddor released a short statement regarding the visions, stating “Early this morning, prior to the Day 17 sim of the regular season, it was discovered that the file used for the Day 16 sim was an incorrect version which did not include any team’s updates from this past weekend. The correct file was obtained, and in accordance with past precedent, [the] Head Office ruled to re-sim Day 16 with the correct file (sic).”

SMJHL Commissioner SchwarzNarr released a similar statement for the Junior League, but adding an addendum from the SHL statement, “we’ve worked to make sure we have systems in place to try and eliminate this as a possible error moving forward.”

While both of these statements imply that the greater SHL administration knows what is behind these alternate timeline visions, both the SHL and SMJHL head offices declined responsibility, and they assured fans that they were not slipping hallucinogens into arena food. As of the writing of this article, we have not been able to substantiate these claims.

One way or another, players and fans seem to be in agreement that there have been no longer term health defects from these visions, and everyone involved seems to be reluctantly willing to move on. Going forward, the situation is being monitored by many separate groups, and all we can do is wait and see what happens next. Experts in time travel have suggested that anyone who experiences these strange visions continue to monitor their health, and report to the nearest hospital if the feelings of deja vu continue.
