Born To Battle Deep Dive #1
#1

As we watch the Maine Timber run away from the pack in the SMJHL, I looked and saw they had one loss at home.

So, who beat them?

The Nevada Battleborn.

On January 19, 2045, the Battleborn traveled to Maine and knocked off the mighty Timber 5-4, overcoming an early 2-0 deficit to accomplish this. Kiwi Soderberg-Snooks scored an unassisted goal with 1:18 to go on the first period to make it 2-1 after one. Nevada was up 3-1 when Gina Pinard scored midway through the second to make it 3-2. Just over a minute later, Sam Volta tied the game. However, in the third period, the Timber went back up 4-3 before 3WW Wingmate-Roc tied the score with under nine minutes left in regulation. Then, with 4:14 remaining in the game, Jim Wieners scored to give the Battleborn the win.

As I type this, the Battleborn have the fifth best record in the SMJHL (34-21-3) and are in a three-game skid with losses to Maine and back-to-back (including one in overtime) to Carolina. Both of the Carolina games ended 5-4. Nevada is 20--8-1 at home and 14-13-2 on the road.

3WW Wingmate-Roc is second in the SMJHL with goals scored (38) Wingmate-Roc is in his fifth season in the SMJHL, with previous stops in Anchorage and Quebec City under his belt. To go with his 38 goals, Wingmate-Roc also has 44 assists, tied for 8th in the SMJHL. His 82 points puts him tied for third in the SMJHL. Wingmate-Roc has the fourth best shooting percentage in the SMJHL at 19.39%. He's also tied for the league lead in Power Play Goals with 16. Wingmate-Roc's rights are owned by the Philadelphia Forge. In Season 76, he won a Four Star Cup while a member of the Quebec City Citadelles. He was also won a Silver Medal while playing for Team World in Season 75.

Lucas Raymond has 53 assists, placing him second in the SMJHL behind leading MVP Candidate Dough Weight of Maine. Raymond has scored 25 goals putting him seventh in the league in points with 78. His rights are owned by the San Francisco Pride.

Jim Wieners is tied for third in the SMJHL with 48 assists to go along with 27 goals. This puts Weiners tied for eighth in the league in points with 75. His rights are owned by the Montreal Patriotes. Weiners was on the Season 75 Rookie All Star Team and he won a Gold Medal with Team Norden in Season 76.

Rookie Badger Hennessey has 25 goals and 32 assists for 57 points and is seventh in the league in shot percentage at 18.52%. He was a third-round pick for the Battleborn.

Other key players for the Battleborn are Gina Pinard (23 goals and 23 assists), Yuri Boyka III, (20 goals and 23 assists), Jayeff Effo (14 goals and 32 assists), Sam Volta (22 goals and 33 assists), Cade de Vries (12 goals and 36 assists) and Chopper Donquixote (8 goals and 19 assists).

In the net, the Battleborn have Akira Suzuki and Gregory Eriksson. Suzuki is 20-15-2 with a 1,019 saves in 1,139 attempts (89/5 %). Eriksson is 14-6-1 with 587 saves out of 660 attempts (88.9%).  Suzuki is seventh in the league in wins and is tied for second in the league in shutouts with 3.
