HOF Committee Hall of Fame Head Good evening, and welcome to the Season 76 SHL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
To start tonight, I want to remind everyone of the voting rules!
Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th). Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to support their choices. These points are then totaled, and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Before we celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season. Twenty-three players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 76 who unfortunately did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame. Adam Scianna Artemius Nystrom Daedalus James Devin Basher Elias Kierkegaard Eric Tokke Geezus Kryyst Golden Face Guy O'Shea Jarmo Kekalainen Jean-Locke Zidane Jukka Timonen Julio Tokolosh Kaarlo Kekkonen KnockedOut ByOvechkin Kriss Darzins Rikard Hammarberg Ryan Shepard Taylor Johansson Valentin Kalashnikov Zlatan Ibrahimovic Jr

Our first inductee was one vote shy of a unanimous first-ballot induction (the other vote went to someone who I personally think should be in but was just shy), and it's well deserved. More than a point-per-game in a long career before the era before FHM 8 scoring increases is a strong indicator of a player that really made a name for themselves on the offensive end of the ice. An MVP nominee with a pair of scoring titles, our first nominee will now get to hang his name in the rafters with the rest of his offensive brethren. Join me in welcoming . . .

HOF Committee Hall of Fame Head Mats Marner @leafsftw1967 : S57 - S59 : S59 : S60 - S74 Career Regular Season Stats: GP: 1185 | G: 545 | A: 680 | P: 1225 | +/-: 458 | Hits: 1564 | SB: 535 Career Playoff Stats: GP: 211 | G: 65 | A: 93 | P: 158 | +/-: 28 | Hits: 260 | SB: 127 Awards: 1x Rookie All-SHL 3x 1st Team All-SHL 1x Aidan Richan Nominee 2x Jay McDonald Winner 1x Ron Mexico Nominee 1x Challenge Cup Champion (S64) Committee Quotes: "The numbers don't lie with 500+ goals and +1,200 career points and over a ppg with multiple scoring title awards, other award nominations including and all SHL selections. I have him at the top of my final ballot for this season because there is no more offensively dynamic player eligible for this class over his 19-season career. Having 4 All-SHL nominations also gives Marner the most out of any eligible player on the ballot." "MVP nominee with a pair of scoring titles to his name and more all-SHL appearances than anyone else on the ballot, with 1200+ points in just 19 seasons. The cup win and great playoff numbers only add to this stellar resume" "Marner leads all final ballot players with 4 ALL-SHL team placements, with 2 nominations and 2 award wins. Elite production, scoring before the big FHM 8 bump, consistently produced throughout his entire career, and finished near the top among all-time scorers"

Our second and final inductee tonight was a preemptive presence on the other end of the ice, standing tall in the net for 3 teams over his extensive career. As one of our committee members said "One of the league's strongest goalies went out as a champ and a top-five all-time winner. Appearing on the McBride ballot 4 times in his career with a win to his name, (this player) did some serious damage and often carried weaker teams to great success." Please join me in congratulating our final Season 76 inductee . . .

Appearing on the McBride ballot 4 times in his career with a win to his name, Strom did some serious damage and often carried weaker teams to great success." "Just 1 the 1 McBride and 1 cup, but the 2-time All-SHL was a model of consistency with 871 games played and 467 wins, both of which are well above the average for the hall of fame netminders." "Has most wins and shutouts out of an eligible goalie for both the regular and post-season, has the best win percentage out of any eligible goalie, won 1 McBride and was nominated another 3 times, and has 2 All-SHL team nominations in an impressive 21 seasons."

SMJHL HO PEANUT!
I want to thank the HOF committee for seeing me suitable for such a prestigious honor!
When I first created in 2019, I never would have guessed that my best player would be my first.

It's quite the honour be a first ballot hall of famer and want to thank all the beautiful souls that Marner got to play with over the seasons that helped him reach an elite level of success. There were so many incredible people I got to share a locker room with that made Marner's career such a special one for me!
