S80 mPT #0: What Is 80 Anyway? Due: Sunday, December 15th @ 11:59 PM PST
#1

Simulation Hockey League is about to start its 80th season, but we “just” had the 75th season and celebrated that.
Do you think 80 is important milestone for the league or just a stepping stone on way to 100?
How would you think it should or could be celebrated?

I think that s75 was significantly more important than season 80, and there's a very clear reason why. I joined the league in season 75, so obviously it's the most amazing season.

80 seasons is an important milestone because it's about 1 long and successful career away from S100. Players who start in the SMJHL now will be retiring when we're nearing 100 seasons and that's enough reason to celebrate.

80 seasons is a huge milestone as is any season for this league, every season adds onto the beauty of it all, although the 10 multiples do add an extra bit of speciality to it.

Season number 80 is a step towards 100 seasons, for sure. But it deserves some attention for sure too. You can not just ignore it, I think. Respect it and league history but not too much.

For me the Season 80 is just a stepstone. the next big milestone will be the Season 100 in my opinion. There we should see a massive celebration but not now. If we see celebrations then maybe personal milestones.

Why can’t it be both?  My dad just turned 80 and while it is a stepping stone for him to turn 100, we thought it important enough to throw him a surprise party.

80 seasons is pretty impressive for longevity, but not to the point that there needs to be any project like Luke's Top 75 in 75. By season 100 there will be significantly more players and seasons to compare to see if there would be any shift in the top rankings.

it is my belief that every quarter century mark and century mark are the most important milestones but i dont think that decade milestones are unimportant. so in that vein i think we should celebrate it as it deserves with thunderous applause and a pat on the back for making it this far.

It is a big milestone but being so close to 75 and relatively close to 100 makes it less stand-out. I believe 100 will be a much bigger celebration. Regardless, contéstalos top everyone who continues to make this possible.

80 is more or less a stepping stone towards the 100th season. 80 is still impressive and should be celebrated by all means - but we all know how special it is to reach that 100th of anything.

80 seasons is quite the accomplishment. Even more so for those who have been around a long time. The users that help push this league along and make sure the leagues runs should be proud. Reaching 100 seasons will be bigger and better but 80 is nothing to scoff about.

I think every interval of 10 is important. Since careers peak after 10 seasons, to get one player from on era to the next is rare. Players from the 50s are like "whoa, it's 80 already." Plus 10 seasons is like 2 irl years now.

I think 80 is not much of a milestone unless you put it in terms of actual time. Being around a full year or maybe a bit less is noteworthy, especially when you multiply it through for 80 season and see just how long the league has been able to sustain interest. I think in general, 75 and 100 will be more important milestone though, just as we see with real life sports leagues and teams.
