The semi-finals were action packed with goals coming quickly. In our first game, Canada

v Switzerland

, we saw why Canada

are the defending champs! They came out of the gate quickly scoring in the first minute of play. Canada

scored again on the power play in the ninth minute to go up 2-0. Switzerland pushed back in the last 10 minutes of the first but couldn't put one past Anthony Dionne. Canada

started the second like they did the first, scoring in the opening minute giving them a 3 goal lead. Switzerland wasn't out of it though, as they put the pressure on and scored their first goal of the game about half way through the period. Switzerland

prevented Canada

from scoring in the first minute of the third, but it wasn't good enough. The third was back and forth with only one goal coming from the Swiss

in the 14th minute. As that was the lone goal in the third, Canada

advanced to the gold medal game and will be fighting for back-to-back titles while Switzerland

will have to regroup to battle for bronze.
In group B we saw the tournament leaders Czechia

taking on Latvia

. Unlike the previous game, we had to wait until the final minute of the first period before we saw scoring. Latvia

put one past Five-Hole Sieve with 20 seconds left to take a 1-0 lead into intermission. It took a bit but Czechia

responded with a goal by Marek Carda to tie the game half way through the second. Within a minute, Latvia

responded as Jarrod Lakemore put his team back ahead 2-1. The third started like the second, a scoreless high intensity back and forth. It took until the 14th minute for a team to find the back of the net. That team was Latvia

to go up 3-1. An empty net goal was enough to seal the deal and send the crowd favourite Czechia

into the bronze game. Latvia

will play for a medal for the first time since S70 and is guaranteed a medal for the first time since S46!
The final is set and we will see Canada

go for back-to-back championships while Latvia

will try to win gold for the first time since S22. Latvia

is in tough against a powerhouse team like Canada

but anything can happen in a winner takes all game. Playing for third, we will see two disappointed nations. Switzerland

and Czechia

both finished atop their groups after the group stage. There is no doubt they had their sights set on the gold medal. They will have to regroup quickly though as they will have to put it all on the line for the bronze medal.
