I'll list two forward contenders, at least one contender on defense.
To begin, I'll go with the, as of now, the leading points scorer in the league, Cristoforo Roccamontepiano (QCC). With him having the lead for points, and being a major part of the most dominant team in the league right now, he is an easy person to point to. With his point totals, he is likely the most valuable player to his team. But just behind him is tied for the leading goal scorer, Scott Fortune from Maine. I think with him having 85 points at a team which is, sure, still strong, but "weaker" Timber team. The fact he is only at 350 TPE makes me scared for how good he'll be in the next couple of seasons. Given that it is typically harder to score in hockey than get an assist, this could edge him out in regard to forwards. An under the radar pick for me, in regards to defense, is Fortune's teammate, Ty Justice. He is currently at over point per a game as a defenseman, already impressive. But something I appreciate is that he has a 200-foot game. Over 100 blocks and generally, a strong game rating for both sides of the ice. That I can respect. In regards to skaters, I think those three are the ones I lean towards. (In net, Kirkstone III or Honza Havran, Kirkstone gets my nod there for his sheer # of GP, carrying a slightly weaker team.) Straight off the rip, there are a few that come to mind, however one that really stands out to me far above the rest is Maine Timbers 2nd year right winger Scott Fortune. He has had an amazing record this season. With an astonishing 85 points (2nd in the league behind QCC's center Cristoforo Roccamontepiano by one only 1 point). He's projected to get around 112 points by the end of the season. He is sitting at an impressive 40 goals, which is first in the whole smjhl for goals scored. The other 45 of his points come from assists (obviously), he is also top 5 for assists league wide. However, despite only mentioning his offensive stats, he is also fairly good at defense. He has 22 blocked shots on defense however blocked shots isn't Scott's definition of defense. Rather, his definition is being an absolute menace on the ice. He has a whopping 125 hits so far, leading his team in hits as a winger. For all the reasons mentioned, I believe he is easily the MVP of this season.

my top 3 for MVP rn has realistically 3 skaters
Cristoforo Roccamontepiano Scott Fortune Dieter Fruhstuck Roccamontepiano and Fortune are the only 2 players in the entire league that have more than 80 points at this point, showing that they are the most valuable players on two very high scoring squads Fortune is tied for the goal lead, at 40, roccamontepiano is not to far off with 35 Roccamontea piano is 2nd on the apple leaderboard, only trailing labyrynth by 1 assist, fortune is only 6 assists behind Roccamontepiano. these two are just insanely dominant forwards on even more dominant squads, when it come to those two, for me fortune is the better player, his team as a whole has lost more games, and even despite that, Fortune is consistently netting it enough to steal some games that wouldve been lost were it not for Fortune I think Fruhstuck deserves to be in this conversation aswell, 82 DGR, 210 blocked shots, 2 gwgs, already over 1000 minutes of ice, all while still contributing 23 points to his squad is a very impressive statline for someone whos seen almost strictly as a DFD

With season 80 coming to an end, there have been some talented players that can all make a case for taking home the trophy of "MVP".
To start, you have Cristoforo Roccamontepiano who not only the most consonants for a player in the league; but they are here to score points and win games. Roccamontepiano is leading all players in points with 92, and is gathering steam down the stretch as the Quebec City Citadelles look to repeat as champions . Next, you have star forward, Scott Fortune from the Maine Timber. This talented player is racking up assists and goals (88pts) as they try to keep the momentum for the Timber leading into the post season. (Also, they need have another MVP candidate Valtteri Pulkkinen who is close behind in points to round out there impressive team) Lastly, you have a dark house pick in goalie Katharina Rosenthal of the Newfoundland Berserkers. While goalies don't typically win MVP, Rosenthal has gathered a rather impressive GAA percentage of 2.69 on a very impressive Berserker team. Between these three it can be anyone's race, but if I were to put my money on a player to win MVP, it would be Cristoforo Roccamontepiano WC - 201

It has been a long held debate within the SHL community, both inside and outside of the award committees for either leagues, how to best evaluate the most valuable player in the league. Although it often ends up going to one of the top scorers in the league, there are a lot who believe a high-scoring player in a high-scoring team is not as valuable as a player who scores a bit less, but is much further ahead when compared to the rest of their team. This season, Cristoforo Roccamontepiano has both, being the top scorer in the league with currently 11 points ahead of the next player, and almost 20 points on the next player on his team. Removing that player would remove a high value of points from the team. Yet there are indeed 4 other players from his team in the top 15 of the league, so there is indeed a case to be made that the team would do fine, if not as good, without him. A player like Kim Chaewon, 8th in points but carrying Carolina in even more impressive fashion to the 3rd place in the standings, is definitely worth considering as well.

There are a few individuals who are easily in contention for the Award this season as we approach the end of it.
Jason Bourne of the Berzerkers is one such contender who is the current lead goal scorer ( 53 ) as well as most shots ( 344 ), Cristoforo is in the lead however in my book he who leads in assists ( 71 ) as well as in points ( 115 ) as well as power play goals ( 23 ). At the blue line, Ty Justice who leads in assists ( 54 ) and points ( 70 ) simply cannot be ignored as well as goal leader Ivan Ivanovitch ( 20 ) and Lewis Holl in the plus / minus department ( +63 ). In front of the net, Katharina Rosenthal leads in wins ( 35 ) as well as in save percentage ( 0.915 ) while Honza Havran has the best goal against average of the league ( 2.41 ). All of these exceptional athletics and proud members of their respective club are in the running if you ask me for the award but only one can win it and if I was to choose the winner it would be Quebec City's Cristoforo Roccamontepiano. Say his name and he appears!

The front runners for the S80 mvp award seem to be unanimous amongst participants in the league.
Cristoforo Roccamontepiano - Last seasons MVP is back at it again, leading the league in points (115) assists (71), powerplay goals (23), and still being 5th in goals (44). Quebec City looks to be the favourite for this year's championship heading into the playoffs and although every member of their team deserves some credit, Cristoforo has stood out amongst the elite. Jason Bourne - Leading the league with 53 goals on 344 shots, Jason has been proving to the league that quantity can sometimes be better than quality. To add in a dark horse candidate; Trent Mackenzie - Facing 1823 shots, Trent has somehow willed the Whalers to over double their wins from last season with an objectively worse team in terms of applied TPE. A .908 save percentage and 18.58 goals saved above average, Its hard to find another individual more solely responsible for their teams success.

This year, many of them have demonstrated their talents across the league. We noticed that many wanted the top spot to be exemplary MVP. But let's start by establishing the truth about MVPs with the statistics we see right here Looking at the stats, we can establish without a doubt with the points in this one that Cristoforo Roccamontepiano is one of the best MVPs this season. In Four seasons he's improved with time. 46 goals for 77 assists, not everyone can do that. Congratulations again Cristoforo. Second place goes to Valtteri Pulkkinen, who seems to have mastered the puck as never before in his career. However, it's not the best season he's had so far. So we know he can still do better. Sometimes a change of atmosphere can make all the difference, but once again, congratulations to you Valtteri. So we'll be finishing in 3rd place. This man really is his team's saviour. Although Vancouver finished 12th this season, he kept a wall between the net and his opponents. Trent Mackenzie is undoubtedly a goalkeeper we'd all like to have on our team. The man with eyes all around his head, as he likes to say. It's not every day you can say a goalie has made 1954 saves in a single season. 220 words.

Cristoforo Roccamontepiano - This is the easiest answer, right? The defending MVP did it again, leading the league in points by a landslide (19 points ahead). Quebec also has the harder division - slightly - with Newfoundland and Anchorage also looking to go deep in the playoffs. Cristoforo also has the lowest average ice time among potential MVP candidates with just 19:15 per game.
Valterri Pulkkinen - Second in points for this season & defending goals leader from last season, I believe Pulkkinen is the most well-rounded player in the league. In addition to his offensive stats, he has the second-highest OGR and third highest GR in the entire league. His combination of hits + blocked shots paired with all of the other stats clearly puts Valterri in the MVP conversation. Katharina Rosenthal - The starting tender for the Berserkers had a tremendous outing this past season that I believe warrants MVP consideration. Her 36 wins led the league by a wide margin and was the most from a single goalie since Season 76. She also led all starters in GAA (2.70) and save percentage (.915) despite playing in the harder conference. Code: Words: 150+

This S80 has been really close for alot of players, who have proved and shown their skill on the ice. The unfortunate part of MVP, is that there is only one. So who really deserves it?
The first skater is Cristoforo Roccamontepiano. After the regular season, Cristoforo finished off with 46 goals, 77 assists and 123 points in just 66 games. This leads his team and also the league in points. Cristoforo has shown a really good case on why he deserves to be the favorite for MVP. This second skater is an obvious sniper, scoring just short of 60 goals. It’s Jason Bourne. Jason finished the season with a whopping 56 goals, but only managing 47 assists. Which compared to Cristoforo, his 103 gives him a harder time trying to prove his case. Jason is also a huge physical presence, being responsible for 133 hits. Which is his 2nd consecutive season of 130 hits or more. Another benefit is his Power Play presence, being on the ice for 4 minutes a game. He has 17 goals and 34 points on the power play this season. While I think these are the 2 favorites to win the MVP award, I think several other players have shined on their teams, and have a great shot next season. I wish luck to everyone in the playoffs.
