S80 DFA Bounties #1 - The Past GRADED
#1

Hello new players!

From the Trade Deadline to the posting of the first task completable for TPE, whether that be the Interested Prospects Threads, Early Bird PT, Mock Draft, etc., DFAs will be able to complete weekly DFA Bounties. These Bounties will function practically identically to PTs, but for money instead of TPE, and will be posted in this part of the forums. By writing 250 words or completing a graphic for a certain prompt, DFAs will earn $500,000 for their bank accounts, with a cap of 4 completed bounties ($2,000,000). You do not need to claim bounties anywhere, instead the money will be added to your bank account when the task is graded.

Written Option: Only the best of the best make it into the SMJHL. Junior players from all over the world come to this league in the hopes of being drafted, becoming a successful SMJHL player and continuing that success in the SHL. But we all have a history too. What is your history? Where did you play? How did you do? How did your career look so far, and what aspects of your player in their pre-SMJHL career is going to make your player succeed? (250 words min.)

Graphic Option: Pictures say more than a thousand words. Show us a pic of the young you, playing hockey. Include your player name and a render of your younger self, and at least one statline.

Reward: $500,000, for doing one of the options.

Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S81 SMJHL Draftees / S82 players) are eligible for this bounty.

Deadline: Sunday, January 12th at 11:59pm PST.

My name is Gappy Hilmore. Ever since I was old enough to skate, I loved hockey. I wasn't really the greatest skater, but that didn't keep my dad from teaching me the secret of making a great slap shot. My dad worshipped hockey, but my mom didn't. So she moved to Egypt, where there's not a hockey rink within 150 miles. Dad took me to games to see our favorite player, Jarrod Lakemore. He wasn't a big guy, but he feared nobody, just like me. Handsome feIIow, huh? He said when I grew up, I could be anything. But all I ever wanted to be was a hockey player. My childhood was going great, and ended up being great! I was able to play at every stage of hockey in school, and I held numerous records, like most points scored in a season and also most time spent in the penalty box. Once I graduated HS though, my father got ill and passed away shortly afterwards. I was offered to live with my grandma as I didn't have anyone else, but I was also old enough to stay at my dad's place until I got everything situated. I was then offered a scholarship to play at UCONN where I actually became a renowned left wing for the team. Because I had hatred in me for my father passing, I was able to harness that and use it out in the rink by delivering punishing blows with and without the gloves. Since this was during the NIL time, I was able to accumulate some money and learned that my grandma had gotten into debt and hadn't paid her taxes in years. Once I was able to pay that off, I offered for her to stay with me, but she told me not to worry and that I should chase my dream of playing professional hockey. With everything settled in my home life, I was able to put all of my focus into making it to the SHL. Nothing was going to stop me from going above and beyond to make sure I would be the professional hockey player I always dreamed of!

Pierre LeBlanc grew up in Sacré-Cœur, Quebec. He was born to two francophones who worked in the forestry industry, and as soon as Pierre could lift half the weight of some of the smaller logs he was helping his dad in the sawmill. All the reps moving logs gave Pierre a bulky physique from a young age and he tore it up on the outdoor rinks at an even earlier age. Once he was old enough, Pierre began playing for his regional hockey team before playing up several years with a U14 provincial team. With offers from the WHL, OHL and USHL, Pierre was faced with a tough choice. However when the SMJHL scouts offered him a once in a life time opportunity he knew he had to take it. So far in a few games with Ottawa on a temporary contract he has put up several points while laying is body on the line to block shots. And while he has played all over positionally throughout his life, he most enjoys defense where his mental skills shine. Most scouts underestimated the miller's son and assumed he would be a goon or a simple shooter but he completely breaks down opposing offenses in his defensive zone and creates great opportunities for his own team through breakouts and even occasionally carries the puck end to end. Pierre hopes to build on his defensive prowess while adding in a threatening slapshot from the blue line to force opposing teams to spread out on defense. He should make a fine addition to any team looking for a selfless player that does not need to be in the spotlight or constantly in the top points race. He aspires to some day see a free Quebec which he can represent in international play, but for now looks forward to continuing to represent Canada and dominating the rest of the world in hockey.

Wilhelm Seider did not have a straightforward path to the SMJHL as a German player. When it became clear at an early age that Wilhelm was a budding hockey prodigy through local and travel tournaments, his parents sat down with him and asked him what he wanted for himself. As a 13-year old, he decided he wanted to push himself to see how far he could take his hockey career if he really gave it his all. His parents knew Germany was a growing hockey country, but not the best for player development. Luckily for Wilhelm, his father had befriended a former SHL player that had a long and successful career – Sven Svenson.

Since retiring, Sven had been bouncing around between coaching and scouting in North America before moving home to Sweden. Sven offered to take young Wilhelm under his wing and play hockey in Stockholm. His parents were initially reluctant, knowing full well Sven’s antics as a bachelor – but also knew he was a genuine person that would look out for the young Wilhelm’s best interest. With a dream of making it to the SMJHL and SHL someday, Sven would be a great mentor.

So Wilhelm packed up his belongings and moved to Stockholm to live in Sven’s penthouse apartment. Sven had connections with local teams and got Wilhelm a try out. It quickly became clear that Wilhelm belonged in the top Swedish league, regularly finishing his seasons as a top point scorer. Wilhelm was invited to join the Colorado Raptors for their playoff push and looks to make a mark right away – hoping to impress SMJHL scouts. He expects to enter the SMJHL draft as a top center prospect as a two way playmaking forward.
