Deep Dive #1 - The Rivalry between the Knights and the Beserkers

The Knights have been on a total rampage this season, destroying every team within their path. Well, every team except for one. The Newfoundland Berserkers. The Berserkers have had the Knights' number all season and has been a thorn in their side. So far the Berserkers and the Knights have met on three occasions with the Berserkers winning all three of them.
2047-11-6: 6-1 Berserkers 2047-11-16: 3-2 Berserkers 2047-11-22: 6-3 Berserkers I'd like to say that the Knights were close in beating the Berserkers in all three games, but I would purely be lying to myself. In fact, the Berserkers were dominate in all three games coming out to early leads and maintaining control for the remainder of the game. One statistic that jumps out to me personally is their shooting efficiency. Even with less shots on goal, they are still able to score more goals and that just shows their dominance on the accuracy front. This could be due to the fact that they have no rookies and are a well-established side, but it could also be simply a part of their gameplan. We will hopefully find out within the next couple of months as the Berserkers and the Knights will face each other on three more occasions, two of which are rapidly approaching. (2048-1-29, 2048-1-31, 2048-2-19). I might be a bit biased, but I am hoping that the Knights are able to equalize the series between the Berserkers, not only for personal pride but also to reduce the difference between the two teams in the standings. Currently, the Berserkers are 6 points ahead of the Knights both of whom have played 34 games. If the Knights are able to equalize the series, that will make the title race that much closer. The Knights have a strong chance to equalize the series as week by week, their rookies are getting more and more developed. We have already seen that these rookies have had the most impact on the defensive side of the ice, so perhaps they will be able to put a stop on the offensive force that the Berserkers have within their arsenal. Especially since I reckon that the Knights' defense is only going to get stronger from here. We may even see a few standout performances from some of the rookies namely the Lorequavius brothers who have been on an absolute mission this season defensively. Additionally, the offense by the Knights is definitely something to look at; they got David Corrigan with a massive 46 points (24 goals) and Jordan Lafreniere with 30 assists. Maybe we will even see a few rookies standout offensively. If the Knights can continue to develop both offensively and defensively then they will definitely have a chance to equalize the series and maybe even contend for the cup later this season. Overall, I'd say there is definitely a lot to look out for during the remainder of the season and the rivalry between the Berserkers and the Knights is definitely one to pay a close attention to. ![]() Head Office Resurgens |
