Deep dive #1: Personal opinion on SMHL logos
#1

For today, i decided to get familiarized with the logos of the SMHL as a new player and give them my personal, raw opinion before i dive more and more into the community, hope it's worth something!

(disclaimer, i mean no offense to any team mentioned and i have the artistic critique levels of a potato, and i couldn't help myself with some memes.)

Stampede

Stampede's buffalo is timeless, strong, bulky, raw power which compliments really nicely with its colors

Monarchs

Monarchs goes crazy with it's art design, mixing one of the largest butterflies out there with the logo is a brilliant choice and it's completely memorable!

Barracuda

Tampa bay's barracuda is a unique choice, being Floridans one would think that the gator is the first choice, but the legendary agressivenes of the barracuda is an amazing choice for a fierce team.

Platoon

A bald eagle for Baltimore, what else can be said? American, huge, respect imposing, it's impossible not to roll with it.

Specters

The first out of the animal kingdom for this post, the Spectres not only find unique character in their "mascot" but the black and purple really gives it an ominous, almost scary vibe to the team it represents.

Forge

Philadelphia forge, the first think that comes to your mind hearing the team's name is mighty steel banging with each other, and the logo PERFECTLY compliments the feel, giving room to some great allegories of "forging the best players"

Inferno

Inferno's just looks great overall, Fiery red, the Phoenix is a badass on it's own that needs no introduction, and i'm super grateful they didn't pick atlanta's state colors for it. All around, an amazing logo to cheer for!

Dragons

Calgary's is just astonishing, maybe a dragon isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think on their mother state, but holy damn if it leaves an impression!! The really detailed dragon really sells the team!

syndicate

Chicago's syndicate... What else can i say? Like god damn if a badass mobster doesn't gets your blood flowing i don't know what will, what a way to use the cities history as the main protagonist!

Blizzard

Edmonton goes hard on the wolf asthetic, it won't be the first but i think it's the wolf that better uses the snowy feelings to it. Also, natural team player which always is a big plus for me when it comes to mascots.

Steelhawks

Hawks! of course! Every american sport has a team which one of the noblest creatures as it's shield, teal, blue and white giving it a patriotic character to it.

Panthers

Panthers is really unique not going for an animal but for the well known and recognizable LA skyline and colors, amazing choice!!!

Rage

Bull.

Patriotes

Patrioties!! Attitude, that's what i get, dunno if the logo was thought of the french Coureur des Bois, the first french colonizers of the continent, tough survalists that depended more on their skills than support from the crown! Really bad as if that's the inspiration tho!

Wolfpack

Wolf.

Argonauts

Seattle, big ships, big a** three decker, what else do you need? It really gives me the "knock, knock it's the united states" vibe to me, and it's awesome!

pride

Pride and a lion, genius! Lions are not used as often in most sports incredibly, and hockey is no exception, so whenever you see someone go for the roar it really shouts some big energies around, plus, the adittion of gold for the feline is impeccable!

Renegades

You really don't wanna mess with a team with this logo, what's best than to use the most characteristic element of the wild west, the outlaw, for a team that loooves it's dark tones? Amazing employment and great logo!

Stars

Just WOW! Intricate yet simple, using the most iconic bulding of toronto while coupling it with the name, while still giving off elegancy and class, with colors to complement the mood. AMAZING!!!

Aurora

Cool bear! Astral! amazing colors and kickass name, everything in one amazing pack that will stay on your memory for some good time! Congrats!

Better to give an espectacular fight than to win or lose without meaning

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”
