Today in studio I have Smirnov Light. He was drafted 7th overall in the S10 SHL Entry Draft and I'm so excited I get to interview this guy. Smirnov is a classy guy and I'm not going to prolong this anymore, without further ado...
SMIRNOV LIGHT!! ________________________________________________________________________________ Hello everyone, I'd like to welcome one of the Toronto North Star's newest members, Smirnov Light! Welcome to The Show Smirnov! Smirnov:oh, Why thank you for having me here, it is definialty and honor to be able to be on "the Show" and to be honest I was nervous coming here and you just made me feel welcomed. You were recently selected 7th overall in the S10 SHL Entry Draft, what was that experience like? Smirnov:Oh it was amazing, I was expecting to go 10th Overall and just told the Rage to persure another prospect and same thing with Steelhawks. and it turned out I got picked earlier then what I though and that it kind of messed up my plans.. Other then that it was just an amazing experience that I wish so many people could experience, hopefully I wont let them down. You won the Four Star Cup with the Detroit Falcons, what was the cup run like? How did it benefit you as a person and a player? Smirnov: It was a great experience, we needed all hands on deck to have been able to beat the best team in NWJHL history during the regular season. It also taught me that anything is possible as a player and that we could beat even the really best of teams. But overall it was a once in a life time run.. but hopefully I could duplicate with the Impact. A lot of prospects tend to model their play after another play so who is your idol in the NHL and SHL? Smirnov: My idol in the NHL was Sean Couturier, he is tall and is built a lot like me... I learned to do what he does because he learned how to succeed that way. And in the SHL I have to say that it was either Zach Cuff or Ben Wong, they are both up and comers and when I was 14 that gave me the courage to work harder and strive to become an SHL'er! If you could play with any other player in the SHL, who would you pick and why this player? Smirnov:Ivo Willems,, pretty simple.. Even though he is in my age group.. we clicked in the all-star game and are built to play with each other to be honest. He is a pure great scoerer and I am a playmaking passer. And if someone else probably Cuff or Wong, again because they were my Idols. You were sent down to the Montreal Impact to start the season, what are your feelings on this? What role will you be playing in Montreal? Smirnov: I love it... I feel that if I stayed in the SHL I would not have the courage to work on stuff that obviously needed to be worked on. And my role is to help carry this team on the back of mine and help the rookies learn how to become a successful player, but most of all.. Teach them how to win. What does a day in the life of Smirnov Light consist of? Party hard or just train train train all day? Smirnov: A day of mine is... First eat a cheesesteak for breakfast.. Then have a double triple pound burger from macdonalds and sit on the couch and eat! But on a serious note.. I work hard all day everyday and I found myself a job to help me make it past those early years. What kind of role would you step into on the North Stars when called upon? Smirnov: I would be a 3rd line center for the North Stars on an offensive 3rd line expected to score. Last question Smirnov, what are you most looking forward to this season? Any goals you want to achieve this season (goals, points, assists)? Smirnov: I am looking to get a lot more points in juniors this year then last year and a 65 % Face -offs This yera and though that is crazy... It can be done. Thanks for stopping by Smirnov and I wish you the best of luck this year in the NWJHL. Vive L'Impact! Smirnov: No Problems I had such a good time I cant believe that this was so easy to get done! __________________________________________________________________________________ Conclusion: Smirnov will be centering the Montreal Impact's first line this year and I truly wish him the best of luck. There's such pride that comes with being an Impact and I'm glad this guy gets to represent the Blue and White. He's a class act and truly one of the best juniors to be drafted in the S10 SHL Entry Draft. Good luck this year with Montreal and bring home the Four Star Cup Vive L'Impact! :impact: Until next time, Stay Classy SHL - - |
