Haan was the first overall selection in the season 10 SHL Entry Draft, which provided the Blizzard with a cornerstone for their organization moving forward. Now having led the Blizzard to the Western Conference Finals last season, he has finally taken the reigns of the organization led by teammate Cole Reinhart.
Haan led the team in scoring last season with 40 points in 48 games including an incredible 17 goals for a defenseman. He had 92 hits, and was third on the team with 58 shot blocks. This was a big increase in production for Haan, who had only 19 points in 50 games in season 11, and has finally become the power that the Blizzard envisioned when selecting him first overall.
Sadly, he was less effective in the playoffs but now entering his fourth season appears primed to become a perennial leader for defensemen in the SHL. He seems set in his ways to becoming a future Scott Stevens winner having already been nominated once.
