"Shock"

That was the first word Mikhail Kladno said when being asked about how he felt. Even after almost four seasons in North America, his English is still very much broken. Luckily, Kladno brought a Czech-English translator to this press conference.

Kladno starts to talk rapidly in Czech, his translator trying to keep up,

"I woke up with calls from a Minnesota GM like, 'What are your plans?' and things like that. I was like, 'What?'. Before I knew it, I was being rushed to an airport with no idea where I was going. I guess I couldn't put it all together, I thought the Minnesota GM was just being friendly. Then I hear on the loudspeaker, 'Flight 0996 coming up next, Seattle to Saint Paul, Minnesota. And I was like, 'Shit.'."

There was a pause, allowing the reporters to laugh, not knowing Kladno was telling the truth. He took a long chug of water, before talking again in Czech.

"I didn't want to go. It was a minute before we had to be on the plane, and I locked myself into the bathroom. Then, I get a call. From the Riot GM saying, 'A deal came up that I couldn't pass by. Sorry to not give you warning ahead of time, but I want to wish you the best of luck with the Chiefs.' And I was like, 'Is this a joke? Am I being punk'd?' "

"So I have to get on the plane. I really thought I was going to spend my whole career in Seattle. I was planning to buy a big new house and help the team to the playoffs- but it's like, 'No, your dreams are crushed and you're going to a city you've never ever heard of before.' What is a Saint Paul? When I got off, I was happy to chat online with my close friends Lionel Byrde and Jermaine Tennyson. I hadn't chatted with them in a while, and I was so angry when I did get to chat with them... I said some stuff I didn't really mean. Sometimes, you're so mad or confused you do that. Tenny the Tattletale told this to a GM on Minnesota, and I was expecting they would be angry I was so disrespectful to their franchise. But they embraced it. Weird. I'm upset yeah, but I'm more upset that Minnesota traded for me. Not because of I hate the team, but because I feel awful that I don't want to play here. But that's life, isn't it?"

Looking Ahead

"I guess I don't have much of a choice, do I? I will be a RFA if I don't resign with Minnesota. I guess this is ideal, but with my luck I'm sure I'll have to sign with another team I don't want to play for. The teams I do like I'm sure have no interest in getting a 5 pointer at this time. So maybe, I'll resign for 1 year, and become an UFA after if it doesn't work out... I don't know, okay? I just don't know anymore."

When asked how the bromance was going with Byrde, Kladno threw his arms up in the arm and marched off, "I'm done."

Not getting ice time is entirely different than being offered top-6 minutes as a sub-300 tpe player on a roster with a bunch of pretty cool guys if I say so myself.
