All Time Scoring Leaders - S17 Edition

Hey everyone, my "All Time Scoring Leaders" series is back with its Season 17 Edition! I updated the list with this seasons stats and also added the players from the Season 11 draft class. A new draft class will be added each season, so if your player isn't on the list yet because you haven't been in the league for too long, don't worry I haven't missed you, you will most likely be added soon Smile.

If you want to compare them, last seasons list can be found here: http://theshl.b1.jcink.com/index.php?showtopic=33343

I didn't publish a whole series of articles this time, I think this was pretty cool to start off this list last season but won't be necessary from now on, since there won't be that much movement within a season. Still, there are still some noticeable risers among the active players, so keep an eye out for them Smile. And as always, if there are any mistakes or if anyone is missing, please let me know in the comments!

Top-5 Actives:

Benjamin Wong (#13 -> #6)

Tied for the lead among active players and one of the more quiet and probably underrated players, Benjamin Wong is no the 6th best scorer in SHL-history. He had the luck to be a part of some of the best offensive lines this league has seen over the past few years, but he was one of the main, if not THE main reason that these lines were so effective and without him, it is hard to imagine the North Stars being as consistent as they have been over basically the last decade of SHL-hockey.

David Winter (#12 -> #6)

David Winter is tied with Benjamin Wong for the lead among actives, but he is a year older so it is at least doubtful that he will ever be able to pull ahead of Wong again. Winter did just have two great seasons in a rough though, so the veteran is showing no signs of slowing down and will very likely break into the Top-5 next season along with Wong.

Chris McZehrl (#20 -> #9)

Probably the biggest jump in the list was achieved by Chris McZehrl who jumped from the 20th spot right into the top-10. The leagues leading scorer this past season is from the same draft years as Wong but missed some games due to suspensions, if it weren't for them he would probably be on par with both Wong and Winter.

Joe McKeil (#25 -> #15)

One of the best teamplayers in the league, Joe McKeil enters the Top-15 in this edition and has a very realistic chance at the Top-10 in future years. His individual numbers have sometimes suffered over the years when he was willing to settle into more of a depth role to allow his more outspoken teammates playing time, but that hasn't stopped him from becoming one of the better scorers in league history.

Yousuf Scherbluk (#31 -> #26)

A major steal from the S8 draft, Yousuf Scherbluk has been a North Star ever since and after a slower start to his career than some of his peers on this list, he has really exploded offensively over the last few years. Scherbluk forms an incredibly dangerous offensive duo with Benjamin Wong and will likely enter the Top-20 next season.

Top-Defensemen:

1 Jason Due (23rd) - 410
2 Aidan Richan (27th) - 391
3 Darian Scherbluk (35th) - 356
4 Jed Mosley (39th)** - 343
5 Kevin Lebacon (40th) - 334
6 Willie Weber (46th) - 321
7 Vladislav Smirnov (47th) - 320
8 Chris Partlow (49th) - 317
9 Lance Uppercut (50th) - 310
10 Cole Reinhart (56th) - 295

Probably has nothing to do with the fact players averaged 20+ more pts per season before S12 due to the sim engine.

But that was for like 2 seasons.

Well S8 is the last still unregressed class in the SHL, so it kind of makes sense that they currently dominate the active players list Smile

Interestingly, looking at who has made the HOF and who hasn't (HOFers in bold, inelgibles in italics):

1 Riley Raycroft - 579
2 Kain Webb - 566
3 Ron Mexico - 549
4 Elias Armia - 508

5 Robert Spezza - 508
6 Benjamin Wong - 498
6 David Winter - 498
8 Reggie Williams - 497
9 Chris McZehrl - 480

10 Frankie Gooseneck - 469
11 Roberto Martucci - 467
12 Christoph Klose - 459

13 Nick Fisher - 455
14 Pavol Skvoznak - 446
15 Joe McKeil - 441
16 Daniel Malenfant - 438

17 Thomas Duddy - 437
18 Jay McDonald - 427
19 Raymond Lindsay - 427
20 Brodie Witzel - 422
21 Laraque Obama - 422
22 Charlie Chiclets - 421
23 Jason Due - 417
24 Danielle Hogan - 415
25 Cam Wilson - 401
26 Yousuf Scherbluk - 401
27 Aidan Richan - 391
28 Trevor Smith - 388
29 Armin Brovalchuk - 374
30 Jordan Nugent-Hall - 372

Only non-top 30's to make it are Bolt, Khan, Falkirk, Jeff Dar, Chisling, Holmes, Stevens, Littleton, Krever, Karpotsov, and Ferguson, most of which make sense since they were either dmen, played in seasons where there was lower scoring/fewer games, or had short careers.

But clearly, Spezza, Gooseneck, and Fisher, are the biggest "snubs" so far, though i think in the case of all of them, they should be able to make it in, especially Spezza. I think everyone on the committee knows Spezza should be in, but there's just tough class after tough class at this point, so guys get lost in the shuffle.

In Spezza's case, leaving the site doesn't help. I would vote for him, but it's easy to forget him since he's not still around.

For sure. It's why I left him off of my ballot this season. I'd rather reward worthy actives for now. I'll eventually bend on that when it comes to the time where he's about to leave the ballot for good, but for now, no reason to rush him in when we can honor somebody who is here to enjoy it.

Spezza's player was a beast, but he was inactive for many of his great seasons.

HOF is more than just how much your player produces imo.
i feel like you have to at least be on the site for most of your career to make it.

i should pass Mosley, Lebcaon, Smirnov, and possibly Weber next year.
Scherbluk is likely gonna pass Due, so im basically chasing him

Looks Like Wong could take the scoring lead before he retires. Good luck sir!

Top point scorer from my draft is awesome. Hopefully HoF becomes an option at some point.
