A change in circumstance.
#1

I'll keep this short and as sweet as I can.

I'm making this statement from West Kendall which is a bit strange for me to
say considering I'd thought to have remained in Minnesota for the next dozen seasons or so.

To clarify a little, Our plan there was to compete for the next two seasons as well until the end of season 20, where my and possibly HFFOs recreates were to join the big team as we had a core that was locked in til then but not after.

With no notice whatsoever, to myself or any member of the team to my knowledge, a firesale began. I still cant figure out why the change of plans or why HFFO thought we couldn't compete the following season but it was not what I agreed to or had planned out from a scouting/line coach standpoint.

This essentially ended any chance I had at raising a Cup before retirement and I was not pleased about that considering I didn't want my last season spent in the league basement before retirement.

I didn't expect to end up in West Kendall, I expected to recreate during the preseason and provide Minny with a solid defensemen.

Circumstances change.

Which is what lead to the flipflopping in Seattle since I couldn't make up my mind if the team was just as shitty as everyone thought or they were a legitimate championship team waiting to break out.

It was the latter but I had moved on. Then Minny had a slightly impulsive GM bring in a more calculating and long game planning CoGM and it simply not work out in the end.

Neither Seattle or Minny required my goaltending services in either instance due to better options being available.

That may not be true in West Kendall, at the moment Schmidt looks to be spending another season in juniors and Reimer possibly being moved for a building block leaves my aging old self as the best (for want of a better term) option.

With the upcoming draft fairly loaded, I figure if I can help West Kendall finish 6th they will have two middle of round picks instead of high first/low second, so hopefully better average talent overall coming in. I cant say I really wish to play another season but since my player will be here anyway, I might as well help before I move on and not have their pick wasted.

So yeah, guess I'm not retiring just yet. Barring Schmidt not becoming better in juniors and that's highly unlikely, I am retiring the moment Season 19 officially ends however because frankly I'm getting too old for this nonsense.

Mac,

It is really shitty what happened. Roll with the punches and do your thing. Good luck in the twilight of your career!

Cheers

Might as well treat this as a presser, so questions away.

It is, though I am the sort that looks back on the road from the destination. Some things have to happen for better things to come.

For example, I had planned to retire at the end of S17. I would have retired and Seattle would have won a cup a season after.

I am kinda glad I didn't, also it sort of adds a bit of story to that win with me being in the opposite corner for the finals after being in Seattles for long.

I am so stoked for my recreate, I don't have any preference for where I'll be drafted but I'd prefer a building team that could use am active member.

Its certainly interesting to see what transpired in Minny. In Torontos blow up they had very little choice with many pending FAs not resigning. In New England well im sure it was abit more planned after another disapointing year. We may see it in Hammy this year with i think 4-5 major FAs. But didnt expect it from minny

Honestly if you're stoked for your recreate you should recreate. I understand you want to do good by your new franchise and by your player but you have to do what's right for you to stay in the league and have fun while being here. That's what it's all about.

Mac, there are literally 0 teams that need a 350 tpe goalie. 0.

You can stop bashing me in every piece of media you write too, its getting kind of creepy.

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

@Ace - I am not one to step aside if my GM needs me, So unless they tell me a better option is available Ill play one more til Schmidt takes giver.

@BFFO - Sorry, I want people to know I had no plans to leave Minny is all and why I ended up leaving. If you think I'm going out of my way to talk about it, i apologize. it's not my intention but it is something I wanted to address in this statement and my future plans.

Why wouldn't you recreate now? Mac would still be playing the season in WKP, so they could use him in whatever way they need, and at the same time you could get a jump on your next player.

I'm not following the logic of not recreating. WKP has zero shot at a cup. Like none. So there isn't even that possibility for you.

@Merica - As far as I know i need to be here preseason for my player to stay and if that's the case then why not play. I likely wouldn't make the playoffs but I'd have fun.

though LR discussion and miscalculating is showing Schmidt will pass me this season. So if I can retire now i will.

Can someone verify ?

Pretty sure if you retire now and recreate WKP keeps your player and you enter this SMJHL draft class.

Yeahthat

I think the so called pre-season retirement started pretty much right after game 7 of the finals this season, so you can retire now and keep your player for the upcoming season Smile
