This upcoming draft boasts six rookie goaltenders looking for their chance at cracking an SMJHL roster. This is by far going to be the most competitive job to land in this upcoming draft. Six teams, six rookie goaltenders all competing for a spot where all six SMJHL already have goaltenders on their roster. These prospects are going to need to make a name for themselves if they want a a fair chance to make an SMJHL roster. This is the first addition of Between The Pipes, featuring Kyle Prince. Leading into the draft we will continue to sit down with these prospective goalies to see what they have to say.

1. There are at least six new rookie goaltenders looking for a spot on an SMJHL team this upcoming draft. This seems to be the deepest goaltending depth in some time. What would you say puts you above the rest?

"I think I've already shown what sets me apart. I compete, I win. The teams see that. I'm confident that I've built myself a big name as far as SMJHL prospects go, and there's good reason for that."

2. What are your personal goals for this upcoming season and what are your expectations of the league?

"Personally, I'd like to win a starting job. After that, I'd like to win games. All of my games. Any of my games. I want to win. My expectations of the league, though? I expect it to be competitive. I think there are some great teams and talented players, so we'll have to see how it goes."

3. Have any teams expressed any interest so far? Do you have any preferences on where you would like to go?

"No teams have directly expressed interest yet, no. And I wouldn't say I have a preference on where I would like to go, but I'd like to wind up somewhere that will give me the opportunity to show off my ability."

4. What do you think will be the hardest thing to accomplish? Biggest challenge to overcome?

"I think that the biggest challenge is going to be getting my feet wet in the league. No one's going to immediately expect me to be the great starter I know I can be. It's going to be getting that reputation for myself built up."

5. What are you most looking forward to?

"That first moment when I step on the ice in my new jersey. I'm excited to start the journey of becoming a great goalie and a household name for some team."

6. Greatest hockey memory?

"There are a lot of great memories for me, but I think winning a provincial championship in juniors with the Calgary Jr. Dragons would be my favourite. It was a tough task that year, but we refused to lose as a team. When you're on a team with that attitude, the game is better than ever."

7. What do you find as your greatest strength between the pipes and possible your greatest weakness? How do you plan on making strides to improve your skills to put yourself ahead of the rest?

"I think my greatest strength is my pure talent and ability in the net, honestly. I don't mean to sound conceited or arrogant, but I have good reactions and vision in the net. Another strength is my attitude in net as well. My weakness is currently my athletic ability, probably. I've been working on getting bigger and faster, though. I've been working out everyday to smooth out those weaknesses and constantly practice to improve on my strengths."
