Halifax Raiders Announce Captains
|
![]() Registered Posting Freak ![]() The Halifax Raiders are proud to announce the first ever captains in franchise history. As an expansion team, We're thrilled to have such an awesome group of players to choose from to form our leadership group. The Raiders possess a great blend of long-term SHL veterans and people completely new to sim leagues, who are working on their very first SHL player. The locker room has been fantastic. It's been great to see people be so proud to be a part of the Halifax organization. There were plenty of people who easily could have been selected as one of the captains of our team. The first of our two alternate captains is goaltender Brett Broadway! A goaltender as a captain? Yep! Toast has all the qualities we're looking for to be a part of our leadership group. Toast has been a part of the SHL for a very long time as has been a pleasure to interact with every time I've had the opportunity to do so. Toast has been a team player ever since we drafted him and he has really embraced the challenge of leading an expansion team to immediate success. Toast has a lot of SHL ties and having his experience in our locker room is huge. Congrats Toast! The second alternate captain is forward William Hendrickson! Selected from St. Louis in the expansion draft, Rhogeos was one of the very first Halifax Raiders. Hendrickson immediately became an active member of the Halifax locker room and has been a 100% positive member of the team since. Rhogeos is well liked and was highly recommended by his teammates for a leadership role with the team. William Hendrickson is a unique player who focuses on the little things that help clubs win hockey games. Hendrickson is a physical player who has created a lot of excellent scoring chances for offensive rookies Sekkusu Gan and Carter Rosston. Hendrickson is also the only player on the Raiders roster with significant SMJHL experience, minus a few depth players who were brought in to fill out the roster. Congrats Rho! And the captain of the Halifax Raiders is.... Who else.. Conall Macleod! The choice was evident right from the moment Macleod was selected 3rd overall. Conall Macleod was the man who was going to be the face of the Raiders franchise. 2 weeks before the draft, I never thought I would pass up the opportunity to draft Wyatt Wolker. A few conversations with Gem made it clear that there was a new #1 on the Halifax draft board. I was incredibly impressed with Gem and knew that he was the perfect person to build an expansion team around. Shortly after we began exchanging messages, Gem expressed a desire to come to Halifax and help lead the new expansion franchise. A few days before the draft, Halifax made a bid to move up and select Macleod #1. That's how bad we wanted to end up getting this guy.. Macleod has been an invaluable member of the Raiders locker-room. Gem has been very active and is always on top of helping other members of the team find ways to improve their player. Gem's also took the lead with promoting #RaiderNation and making sure that our team is noticed around the SHL website. Macleod is well on his way to becoming a superstar player at the SHL level. We're lucky to have him in Halifax and couldn't think of a better person to be our teams captain. I can't wait to see how far Macleod goes in the SHL. I truly feel like he will become one of the top talents the SHL has ever seen. Congrats Gem! ![]() #RaiderNation ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered AKA: Dangies ![]() Registered S11, S19, S25 Challenge Cup Champion ![]() Registered Member Quote:Originally posted by Giova69@Sep 2 2015, 07:28 PM ![]() But congradulations to all newly appointed captains.
