Game 131 – Montreal :impact: at Colorado Mammoths

The Imapct took a quick lead in the first period as Holmberg scored his 5th of the season just over four minutes into the game to put Montreal up 1 to 0. After a couple of failed power play chances, the Mammoths would tie the game late in the period on Chips 8th of the season. Both teams had 11 shots on goal in the period. Colorado had 3 power play chances in the period, while Montreal had two of their own.

Montreal outshot the Mammoths 12 to 4 in the second period, but only outscored them 2 to 1 as the Impact took a 3 to 2 lead into the third period. Scoring for the Impact were Hamalainen with his 4th and Burch with his 15th. Sandwiched between those two goals was a Colorado goal by Wolff, his 5th. Both teams were called for one penalty in the period.

Colorado would tie the game at 3 to 3 on Buckner’s 8th of the season just over two minutes into the third period. Neither team would score on their respective power play chances after that goal, but Montreal would get one late in the game and Holmberg would net the game winner with his second of the game to give the Impact a 4 to 3 road win. Montreal outshot the Mammoths 32 to 23 in the game.

Andersson made 20 saves in picking up his 17th win of the season while Andrews made 28 saves in the loss as his record fell to 2-2-1 on the season. Both teams went 1 for 4 on their power play chances.

Game 132 – St Louis Scarecrows at Kelowna Knights

The Knights came out in the first period and crushed the Scarecrows in shots 14 to 5 and scored two late goals in the period to take a 2 to 0 lead. Zunino Jr scored his 7th of the season while Lundberg followed up with his 9th. The teams combined for six penalties in the period but neither team could score on their power plays.

Five more penalties were called in the second period on the two teams, but once again, the penalty killing units held strong and did not give up a goal. However, Kelowna did score the one goal of the period as Chamas put them up 3 to 0 going into the final period with his 10th of the season. The Knights outshot the Scarecrows 16 to 8 in the period.

Just 20 seconds into the third period, the Knights would increase their lead to 4 to 0 on Flow’s 16th of the season, but the Scarecrows would break the shutout bid with exactly five minutes left in the game as French closed out the scoring with his 8th as the Knights won the game 4 to 1. St Louis outshot the Knights 12 to 6 in the third but Kelowna had 36 for the game compared to 25 for the Scarecrows.

Bjornsson won his 18th game of the season by stopped 24 out of the 25 shots he faced while Bowden took the loss in goal as he gave up 4 goals on 36 shots. Both teams pulled a big goose egg on the power play as the Scarecrows were 0 for 5 and the Knights were 0 for 6.
