First off, I wanted to apologize for the late start to the SHL Pre-Season. That's on me, poor time management and a few variables beyond my control. I don't want any of you getting the impression that this was on the Head Office - or for the more deranged of you, blamed on the DC.

This was me. All me. I shit the bed on this one.

When I first took this position it was with the intentions of making sure that efficiently and effectively simming the SHL took first priority. Initially my intention was to run a vote to keep me simming and then aim to make it to one of the following benchmarks:

- 10 seasons.
- Half of the SHL's existence.
- When I achieved major burnout.

Those benchmarks were lost in the fray of the last year and a bit as I settled into the position, became accustomed to steering the ship, and settled in for the long haul.

That being said, it's time for me to step aside and let someone else have their go with STHS. At the end of this season I'll be stepping down from all simming duties related to the SHL and SMJHL.

There are too many people to thank for supporting me over the last ten seasons and if I start getting into specifics without major forethought I'm going to miss someone I don't want to miss.

So I'll offer up a carte blanche and heartfelt "thank-you" to anyone I've been fortunate enough to interact with over the last year and a half.

Maxy - You believed in me. You believed in me the first time I simmed way back when it was the NWJHL and you were my hugest supporter when I came back and stepped into simming. You are the reason I was able to sim the last ten seasons. Thank-you.

Boon - You were the first to challenge my assignment to the role of simmer. For some reason your initial opinion of me was something that stuck and I really hope my tenure was bearable. Tongue

Jack, you are the most amazing, I can't believe how long you did the job for, and how smoothly it went along the way. It'll be really sad to see you step down, but at the same time I'm really glad you're doing it for yourself.
