Lenard Ramsey was just a normal child growing up in Great Britain. Both of his parents were still in love with each other and he was more happy than could be. He grew up a huge hockey fan and he just loved the idea of playing when he got older. He would sit in front of the television for hours just watching any and all hockey games that came on. He wasn't quite certain of what team to have as a favorite as he liked many teams. He had certain players on each team that he would root for the most as he wanted them to succeed. He was quite amazed by the things they could do out there on the ice rink. It was going to be his goal to one day play in the NHL and play alongside some of the people that he grew up watching, (hopefully if they haven't retired by then).

During his early years he would be able to go out and play pick up games of hockey. His parents had bought him the proper equipment he needed to play. For his birthday he was given a brand new pair of skates, and even a new hockey stick to go with his old gear. He couldn't wait for the following day that he would get to show off his new things to his friends. Of course they all had new things too, but he felt he was being left out. His parents weren't exactly the wealthiest of people, but they did manage to spend money on him when they could. They loved seeing the excitement and joys of Lenard playing hockey. His mother was kind of cautious like all mothers are. She knew there would be injuries that would come along with playing. She always warned him to be careful but he would come home everyday with a new cut or scrape.

When middle school had came around, he was ready to try out for the schools team. He knew that they were in need of forwards and it would be his chance to show what he had. If he could manage to impress the coaches, maybe they would let him play on the team. There had been quite a few holes with some players going on to high school, so he was ready to take one of those spots. He knew that he was going to have to fight as it would be no easy task getting onto the team. Once he stepped on the ice, it was like nothing the coaches had seen before. He was gliding across the ice very swiftly and he was shooting the puck with such precision. It seemed like every shot he took at the net, it would go in. Of course there was a goaltender standing in net which made it that much more difficult of a task. The coaches would give him a roster spot and he would go on to lead the team in goals all three seasons before heading off to high school.

High school had made its way around. He was ready for the big times. Well at least the big times before he got the chance to either go to college and play or if he wanted to head for the minors. The high school coaches knew of his talents and was awaiting his arrival to the school. Once he got there, they were already showing him around the school and showed him the ice. They asked him to lace up his skates and show them what he got. The net was empty here but he was flashing off all kinds of shots. It seemed like he could even hit those shots with his eyes closed. In fact he shot a few with his eyes closed and it seemed to have impressed the coaches. He would play one year of junior varsity before being bumped up as a sophomore. During his final three seasons he would lead the team to two state finals, winning one of them. He would be the teams leading scorer and his final year he broke the record for most goals scored at his school. Now would come the tough decisions.

College: Would he choose to go to college? If so there has been many offers and he would have the chance to play in front of bigger crowds. If he could handle the spotlight of college, then he would be ready for the NHL right? Some of the top colleges in the nation had offered him full scholarships. He had been thinking over some time and he had decided that he was going to not even go to college. He wanted to skip right over that and head for the NHL minor leagues. That way he can get noticed and when the draft came around, he would be ready to be picked in a prime spot.

Minors: Here he would get his chance to shine. He was going to sign with whatever team gave him the best chance to win, start and play. While he was picking over teams, of course they were prepared with offers of money. That wasn't really the issue for him as he was just ready to play the game that he loves so much. This would be his one true chance he would get to show the world that he could be a star. He was going to be the top draft pick in the nation and he was going to do it right. Well that dream had lasted all of a few days before he would end up tearing his ACL and then having to sit the season out.

The choice after the season was over was to go in the late rounds of the NHL draft or he had heard about the Simulation Hockey League. There they had plenty of talented players and he would get the chance to shine there too. He was ready to make his decision and it would be the SHL that he would be headed to. There was eight minor teams for him to choose from and he was hoping that he would get good offers fielded to him. Of the teams he was certain that he didn't want to head to Halifax for some odd reason. Maybe it was something to do with his agent, but right now he wasn't interested. Would he get a chance to play in the United States or would he be heading on to Canada? He wasn't certain of where he was going to go. All he knows is that he is getting his name out there and wants to prove his worth.
