RECOGNIZING - The important of history both in the real world and in the digital world and the amount of pride that it brings us, as it is a testament to our community.

APPLAUDING - The works of SHL historians, past and present, for their outstanding ability to give us numbers and associated names to paint a better picture of our past and to give it meaning.

REGARDING - There is no easy way to experience the past, and even more difficult to see it through the eyes of one who was there, less they share it themselves.

ATTRIBUTING - The loss of these treasured moments to users that have since left us and due to memories fading, or becoming less intense with age.

ATTEMPTING - To find a way to save the stories that make us who we are and the league what it is and trying to preserve it so us and future members may enjoy seasons past with us.

STRIVING - To get the community more involved in the most important role we all share and to make the community more nostalgic, so we may have memories when we all eventually leave this place.

Hereby suggests the following:

A new committee (or the current HoF Comittee) is to be responsible for the judging of importance and/or power of submitted written segments to be inducted in one of two additions to the HoF:

1.) "Exhibits"

Much like museums and the real HoF have exhibits that rotate in and out, the HoF subforum could have a sub-forum dubbed "Exhibits", in which, submitted articles could be posted individually, entitled with he season number in brackets in which the event(s) occurred, followed by the article's title, Individual events and story-telling being the focus.

2.) Player profile bios

A small addition of the same motivation; the current player profiles could be edited with a biography in the theme of a life-story format or chronology. These don't necessarily have to come from the inductee or the board themselves.

Supplementary ideas:

Should a committee be formed with the sole purpose of judging material, I hereby put forward my name as a member, due to my interest in the perseverance of our history and ,having had memorable moments of my own that are seldom shared, would love to see more materialize.

To encourage productivity in regards to submissions, a pay-scale similar to that's used for media grading, or perhaps a better system to avoid encouraging word count spams of a flat payment per accepted article.

If activity becomes an issue regarding submissions a possible compromise of shutting the "Exhibits" down could be a "librarian" whom he'she alone approves/declines submissions.Obvious cons being this persons judgement of what is relevant/a good story and what isn't.

There could be something the lines of a "media hall of fame" where distinguished articles posted in the SMJHL or SHL media section could be acknowledged due to decisive impact and/or importance.

On the above: There could also be a section for distinguished play-by-plays could be acknowledged due to decisive impact and/or importance.

A "Builder" section, on users and their contributions.

I love it. Player bios will be a little difficult though for some of the original guys, because there ain't very many people left that remember those days.

Who do you think would submit these though? The person whose player it was?

Oh, I never meant to imply that all inductees would have a bio, but only those that have one submitted to the committee,so even then not every new inductee would have one.

That's a possibility, like I said though, the main focus of the idea is the "Exhibits" portion, as they are essentially media articles, except more focus on the story-telling aspect and less on the player and word count.

Ahhh ok I was reading it more as a piece in a portfolio for players being considered for the HoF, not a piece for those in it.

I think the first step in improving the HoF would be to include full player stats on HoF pages, like season stats, award nominations including actual wins, all-star selections, things like that.

I have started something to that effect but I'm way behind right now.
