![]() ![]() ![]() It’s been a while since I wrote an article about Esa Anrikkanen the player. Coming off his 3rd cup and a dominant performance in the finals I figure what better time than now to check in with the ol’parm king himself. S32 marked the completion of Esa Anrikkanen’s 15th season in the SHL. Over that time he’s proven to be one of the hardest working and well respected players in the league. Esa just keeps getting it done year after year and helps his team win. He’s obviously been a centerpiece of Calgary’s success for a long time and he’s far from finished. Esa may not clock in with huge point totals every season as he averages around 20-22 minutes of ice time a year and plays within a deep line up where scoring is spread around, but he’s managed to do pretty well for himself over the years. Esa's racked up 586 points and won 3 cups over his 15 seasons, not a bad run. He also became the Dragons all-time leading scorer this season, passing the great Kain Webb. There’s no question that one day Esa will be among the top scorers in league history. He’s currently in the top 20 all-time and should be able to crack the top 10, maybe even top 5, who knows maybe #1. He definitely plans on playing 20+ seasons and has the tpe to do it and remain effective. Once S40 hits he will have played in 4 different decades in the SHL. The teens, 20, 30’s and 40’s. Pretty cool. Career Stats: G: 267 A: 319 P: 586 Shots: 2462 +/-: +136 Pims: 702 Hits: 1666 Blks: 151 PPG: 61 PPA: 91 PPP: 152 GWG:43 GTG:15 FOT: 1502 FO%: 52.58 HT: 5 AVG: 22.86 mpg Along the way he’s played in 11 post-seasons in the SHL including the last 9 in a row, I was not able to find all his sats in the old indexes but he’s always done well in the playoffs. The Finnish born stud has also played in every IIHF tournament since S19. He’s probably the all-time leading scorer for Finland by now but I can’t see all those stats either lol. He’s won a gold medal, silver and at least a couple bronze. He’s been a division champion twice, a president’s trophy winner, a 3-time conference champion, 3-time cup champion and #1 star in Game 7 of the cup finals. He may not have a ton of personal hardware with the system Calgary plays and the deep team he's built, but he’s accomplished some great things in his time in the SHL and it’s been a lot of fun. Looking back Esa started as a wide eyed rookie winger in S18 for the Dragons after being drafted 4th overall. Coming off a huge 1yr junior career where he won the scoring title, MVP and basically everything but the cup. In his rookie season with the Dragons as a 350tpe player on the 3rd line, he was a little raw but somehow managed a +20 in his rookie season despite scoring just 15 points. He had the dreaded sophomore slump with just 13 points the next year, then he finally got it going in his 3rd season with 33 points and it’s been all gravy since. he moved to center after a few seasons and really took hold of that role and has provided strength down the middle for Calgary. He’s had the pleasure of playing for a great GM in O4L and with some truly great teammates. He’s always been a team player and shared the minutes, even when he was the highest tpe player in the league for about 6 seasons until regression hit. He was the first player to reach 2000tpe in league history and is largely considered the guy who “broke the system.†It’s been an incredible journey for Esa, he’s played on some awesome teams, with some amazing teammates and most importantly he’s always carried himself with class around the league. He looks forward to continuing to enjoy the SHL for as long as he remains effective. ![]() ![]() Esa Anrikkanen the GM. Yes I’m milking this because I need money lol. ![]() Esa’s is currently the 2nd longest tenured GM in the SHL along with Bojo who started the same season, S24. They both pay respects to the current King Wasty who’s been around forever and will hopefully never retire because he’s awesome. Anyway, back to Esa. He started as Dragons Head GM in S24 after an extremely impressive 3 yr run as Detroit GM. Esa came in and took over a last place Dragons team, albeit with some great pieces thanks to O4L. Esa made a couple tweaks and brought that team to the playoffs the very next season. Since then he’s made the playoffs every season. Under Esa’s leadership the Dragons have had tremendous success with a career record of 265-149-38 with a +197 goal differential. He’s won 3 cups as a GM in 9 seasons. One of the seasons he didn’t win the cup he won the president’s trophy and the division twice. Pretty consistent play for the Dragons under Esa and c00kies, especially in the tough Western Conference. Esa may not make a ton of moves as a GM, but he makes the right moves. He knows who to bring in and when to bring them in. Also when nobody ever wants to leave, you don't really need to make many moves anyway lol. The Dragons under Esa and c00kies have the best player retention in the league which has been key to their success. It's a great reflection on their GM style, they treat their players welland it shows. A few of the key moves Esa has made are bringing in Randy Randleman, Nicholas Pedersen, Alex Mack, Chris Johnson, Bubba Nuck, Shane Gagner, Pierre-Luc Laflamme and most recently Tommy Creller. All high end players with great attitudes who have fit in perfectly with the Dragons and helped them win championships. Most recently he's drafted two future stars in Joe Kurczewski and Sepp Reiter who should become the next generation of Dragons legends. Esa knows the right moves to make Calgary does not trade for the sake of trading. Under Esa and c00kies, the Dragons have had one of if not the strongest rosters in the SHL every season. Esa has also been instrumental in keeping certain players active, bring some back to activity and works hard to keep his players happy and motivated. He's truly a players coach. Calgary is a fun place to play and I’ve really enjoyed having the honor of being there GM here along with c00kies for the past 9 seasons. I have no plans to step down anytime soon so the league is stuck with me. ![]() Please post any questions, about Esa, the Dragons, being a GM, sandwiches, boobs, whatever. I’ll answer and update the OP over the weekend, thanks. ![]() --- Ballerstorm ![]() Pretty damn good to be honest! Especially winning my 3rd with that beauty named Randy Randleman! You could even say that Randleman is the key to it all. We drafted him 1st overall in S24, he comes up in S26, scores 20 goals, wins rookie of the year, then we go on to win 3 cups. Oh and he was Captain for this one also, I guess he's decent. No, but it did feel great. I've always told the guys we are in our cup window and to stay the course, keep working because we have an opportunity to do something special here. Now we've done it and yes we aren't done yet, but it does feel pretty damn good to win our 3rd. Everyone bought into the system, we all committed to the common goal, we remained positive at all times, we worked together, the guys never lost faith even through that seattle debacle last season. The team trusted me, they trusted each other and we've cemented our place in history. Until we do it again of course. Which in all honestly I feel we can do this season and every season to be honest. This group always has a chance to win and we've go the pieces in place to be a cup contender for a long time. ![]() We have an excellent core that will be around a while, even in regression, guys like Esa, Pedersen, Mack, Jagr, PLL, Nuck, Boychuk, Pergher, Hill aren't going anywhere and will play until the wheels fall off, then of course Randy Randleman and Shane Gagner are not even in regression and are primetime players. Hunky Monkey is just getting started on D. In net Wongy has a at least a fews seasons left and behind him Hocolate is highly talented as proven last season. Now couple that with the young group of high end talent we've recently drafted and the future looks bright. Guys like Joe Kurcewski and Sepp Reiter are waiting in the wings and will be high end players in a very short amount of time. Newly Drafted franchise Dman Ryan Strathairn looks amazing and goali Kyle Prince could be the next Wong. Obviously we're in a very good situation and with our ability to retain players, there's no question we will always be a competitor. We also have great leadership which I think is important, from players to management, we're very stable and when you have stability in an organization people want to stay. I think that also facilitates hard work, as players know if they put in the effort they will be rewarded, not only with wins but a great experience. If we keep doing that we will always be succesful. Players will always want to play here and stay here. We'll continue to draft well and bring the right people in. The rest will take care of itself. ![]() You're not going to get rid of me for a while! lol. I definitely want to play until S40, that's a nice number and would be a 23yr SHL career. I think I could go 25, but only if the team needs me and I'm not taking an opportunity away from a young player. I won't hang around and hurt the team. I think I can remain relevant for at least another 8 seasons, playing at a high level for most of the those seasons. Maybe more. If I keep giving long answers in this presser and make more money I could buy equipment every year and last a little longer. 25 seasons sounds real nice though, that'd be S42, another 10 seasons. I think I can make it, that'd be a nice career, maybe couple more cups, who knows. For now I'll say S40 and see where I'm at and what the team needs at that point. @Dmoushey_31 ![]() This is a tough one, could be a few people. You're obviously in there with your clutch play and OT winner in the finals. PLL led the team in post-season hits with 55, were tied for team lead in goals with 9, were' #2 in team scoring with 17 points in 16 games and you had 5 game winning goals. 5! That's pretty amazing. Mack should get consideration with his team leading 18 points, 7 powerplay points, along with a 54.56% on face offs, plus 3 game winners himself. Not to shabby. He won in S27 though, so I'd probably give you the nod over him. Esa was dominant in the finals, wih 6 goals in 4 games and 97 posts hit, 3rd in points with 15 and 1st in shots. He was most dominant in the finals, but overall playoffs I'd give it to PLL. Now Wongy is where it gets interesting. He played out of his mind. 12-2-2 with a .926 SV% and a 2.02 GAA with 1 shutout. He only allowed 4 goals in the final 3 games of the cup finals. That's impressive. Without Wongy's play I don't think we win the cup, or it's much harder to win. I think for that reason I'd give it to Wong, but if it goes to a skater, then PLL gets MVP. ![]() Well not sure what you were going to ask here, lol. Assuming it was something about how Laflamme has done in his 2 years as a Dragon. He's been great and this year he was especially great leading the team in scoring. He scored 20 goals last year and had 43 points this year, plus your clutch playoff performance. I could not be happier with how you've done on the ice and how you've fit in with the team in the locker room. Very happy you decided to come here and glad we could help get you that elusive cup. It all worked out and we're not done just yet. I'm thinking repeat, maybe threepeat! ![]() To speak on this as humbly as possible, I'd say Esa would probably get consideration as a first ballot Hall of Famer. I think by the time he's finished he'll be near the top in scoring and has already won 3 cups, with great potential for more, so there's a good chance he makes the hall. I won't talk too much about it now, I don’t want to jinx myself, just want to have fun and keep winning with Calgary. If when Esa’s all done he's fortunate enough to make the Hall of Fame in any ballot I'll be very happy. I think besides stats he’s also shown he’s a player of great character who’s always carried himself with class and treated others in the league with respect. Personally I think that counts for a lot when getting consideration for the hall of fame. Stats and Cups are important, but your positive impact on the league and the lasting effect or influence you've had on other players and members should be valued highly. I think with that in mind along with his career numbers and championships Esa should rate very highly for the hall of fame. ![]() LOL. Great question! I'm going to assume a parmchuk can chuck parms, which means he'd be able to chuck a hell of a lot, whatever ones he doesn't eat of course. A parmchuck I'd imagine gets his name from his intense love of parms and therefore would be very posessive of said parms, meaning he'd probably not chuck them that much. Of course if he decided to chuck them, he'd very very good at it. Let's say 1 every 2-3 seconds and leave it at that. @ Alex Mack ![]() First off, thanks for the amazing string of questions. Wow! Secondly, I sprinkle it on every meal, obviously. There's really no bad time for parmesan cheese, well maybe on your desert, it doesn't go well with ice-cream, but on everything else it's an excellent compliment. Obviously pasta and sauce of any kind. You can even put it on eggs and salad. Woa wait, who the fucks eats salad? Not this guy! Just saying I've seen people do it. I would never do it because I'd never eat a salad, but I'd imagine if I had to for some unforseen reason, I would defintiely put parmesan cheese on it. My go-to use of parmesan will always be on tomato sauce, which is in at least 5 of the 6 meals I eat each day. Yes, 6 meals a day. Breakfast, post-breakfast, pre-lunch, lunch, post-lunch, afternoon feeding, pre-dinner snack, dinner, post-dinner snack, nightime feeding, late night snack. Ok that's like 12 meals, I guess I have a problem. ![]() Yes, I normally have a platter of sandwiches layed out at my desk when I go over line changes. As I analayze everything I find it helps to be eating at the same time, something about fulfilling those senses allows me to see a clear picture of what needs to be done. I also have a picture of Kate Upton's boobs directly in my line of site so I can have 2 of my favorite things right there with me, calming me and keeping my mind stimulated at the same time. It's a deadly combination, obviously. It's worked to near perfection. I mean don’t get me wrong sometimes I stare ate Kate Upton’s boobs too long and completely lose focus of what I was doing, but who could blame me, those things are glorious. ![]() Yes, I avoid vegetables. Anything with vegetables is bad luck before a game. As a matter of fact, I follow this same rule in life. Vegetables are our enemy, they don't taste good and they make you shit. I don't need to be shitting myself on the ice. Not that cheese doesn't lend itself to some loose stools on occasion, but at least cheese tastes good and you can melt it over things. Vegetables are the devil. Other than that I usually avoid greasy foods, like fried chicken and sausage, they have a tendency to really bog you down on the ice. I usually try and avoid spicy foods as well because I can get read bad indigestion. One time I hate Jalapeno poppers before a game and let’s just say I was on fire in all the wrong places. Never again. ![]() Yes lots of them. We already discussed the one about never eating vegetables before the game, but another thing I always do is call my wife and get into an argument right before I go on the ice. She really infuriates me sometimes with her "Esa, you forgot to flush the toilet", "Esa, you gotta stop eating all the cheese", "Esa, why did you eat deep fry the neighbors pet rabbit and make it into rabbit parm" The list goes on and on, but I do like fighting with her because it's puts me in a good mindset to go out of the ice and check someone through the glass. She really grinds my gears. Another superstition I have is banging one of the ice girls after the game if we lose. Now I know what you're thinking, what a terrible person cheating on his wife, but we have an open relationship, plus she doesn't want me taking it out on her after a loss, so she's happy to let me release my tensions elsewhere. Ok we've digressed a bit there, let's get to actual hockey superstitions lol. I'm a big stick guy, I like to spend my pre-game time changing my blade, getting just right curve, etc. I really enjoy taping my stick also, getting that perfect tape job, I have a special way I do it where I cover the entire toe with tape, I think you get better puck control with that. Also I used a lot of wax, I think that helps preserve the tape during the game, especially when I spear someone. Other than that I eat at the same place for my pre-game meal at 4pm, Esa's house of Parm in downtown Calgary. I eat a nice piece of chicken parm over a bed of penne, a couple pieces of garlic bread and I'm good to go. Ready for the game. ![]() In my personal career as a player I'd say winning 3 cups, obviously. That's quite an achievement and not something many players can say. I also consider becoming the first ever player to reach 2,000 tpe pretty cool. I will always hold that title and it's something I'm proud to have achieved. Building an incredibly deep team in Calgary and remaining a top team for a number of years is also something I'm very proud of. Shit, I guess I can't pick just 1. As for my biggest achievement as a GM so far, probably going 3 for 3 in cup finals, proving I know how to win when it matters most. Probably the biggest individual achievement as a GM would be orchestrating the reverse sweep against Hamilton to win my first cup in S27. We were down 0-3 and we made an epic line change to come back and win 4 in a row and win the cup. Our 2nd cup we won it game 7 of overtime, which was also a stressful situation, but we made the right decisions. Winning the cup is not easy, although in S32 it was much less sressful beating Manhattan in 5 games. Another 7 game series would have probably killed me. Biggest disappointment? I don't have any. I've done exactly what I've hoped to do in this league with my player and as a GM. Its all been great. ![]() Oh this is an easy one. I would love to nail Chris Johnson's wife. I really have a thing for exotic european women and his wife is this smoking hot Latvian goddess. He showed me some pics once and now I can't get her out of my head. I would definitely like to run the train on her. She's come to a few events we hold for players wives and is the hottest chick in the room, hands down. She's even hotter than Tommy Creller's wife and Randy Randleman's. Definitely hotter than my wife, who's probably like a 6, but she knows how to cook so it's a nice trade off plus she's pretty good in bed. Anyway, yeah CJ's wife, I'd like to get to know her on a personal level if you know what I mean. He'd probably be cool with it, maybe I will broach the subject during our next contract negotiations. ![]() Err Why you gotta ask me this? Fahk. This is a really tough question. I'm all about diplomacy and I genuinely love all my players. Each one is important not only to me but to the team. Plus they all love me, so I don't want to risk hurting anyone's feelings here. I'm going to plead the 5th and just say they are all my favorite and all are equally irreplaceable. I know, total cop out, sorry Mack. ![]() Yes, I've always wished Dragons legend Kari Barkov was still around. He had a long career as a Dragon and is in our hall of fame. I would really have loved to have him as part of one of our recent cup teams. He was a great player and did so much for the Dragons organization. He deserved to get his name on a cup. I had the pleasure of playing with him for 6 seasons from S18-S23 and we had some great times and some good runs, but never were able to win it all. He would have really been a great addition to any of our recent cup teams. His younger cousin Oferyn Martell did win 2 cups with us, so that was nice, but always wish Barkov was able to get his name on one. His nephew Sepp Reiter is in our organization now so hopefully we can win a couple with him also. ![]() Another hard question, so many great players in the SHL. I will say what may already be obvious. There's two good friends of mine irl playing on other teams in the league, Big Manius on Winnipeg and Slappy McDoodle on West Kendall. While their players may not be the best out there and they're both pretty ugly, I would love if we were all on the same team together. That being said we don't have any room for them, but it's fun to think about what the locker room could be like with those two in there. I'm thinking complete shit show lol. Hopefully with their next players I can get them to Calgary because they're both locked in for their careers with their current teams and rightfully so. Two great guys who bring a lot to their teams. ![]() LOL. I may have some experience in this area! First thing I would do is immediately start running and taking off my clothes while screaming TICKS TICKS!!! I would leave a trail of clothes as I ran for safety. Then I would start searching my entire body head to toe with huge paranoia because ticks are fucking tiny and you can barely see them, especially ticks in the northeast which give you lyme disease. After reviewing every tiny dot that I can see myself, I would force my friend to check my body, armpits, lower back, head, hair etc. Once they did that and cleared me I would still be concerned and request they check my grundle. They would think I was kidding, but I'd say I was only half kidding and ask them to check. If they refused I would go into their bathroom and stand over a mirror. Once fully cleared of ticks I would go grab my clothes in the yard using a hockey stick, dump them in a barrell and burn them. I'd drive home in my underwear and never return to said friends house again. This may or may not be a true story. ![]() ![]() Yes I always celebrate with a chicken parm, obviously. I have one delivered to the locker room right after the coach is finished addressing the team. Since I'm actually the coach also, I can cut this short if I'm hungry. Anyway, I get my parm but I don't actually eat it in the locker room, I go into the hallway since the locker room smells like a mix of dead cats and balls. The trainers sets up a little chair for me and I take this time to sign autographs for young fans as I eat my parm. I find it has a lasting effect on young fans to see a superstar taking the time to meet them and also it makes them fans of chicken parm because they see me eating it. It's a win win. After that I usually go out with the guys to a restaurant, have a full meal, a few drinks, maybe pick up some road poon if it's an away game then go home feeling completely fulfilled. If it's a road game I have a tradition of tucking Chris Johnson into his bed before he goes to sleep. He gets scared on the road, so he needs some special parenting care. I'm happy to provide this but when he asks me to read him a bedtime story I tell him he's crossing the line. ![]() This is easy, it would have to be the game 7 of the 1994 Eastern Conference finals between the NY Rangers and the NJ devils. One of the most famous goals in NHL history, scored by Stefan Matteau in doublt overtime to beat the devils and send the Rangers to the cup finals where they would eventually win their first cup in 54 years. As a Rangers fan growing up this memory stands out in my mind like it was yesterday, I can still remember where I was, who I was with and the celebration we all had together. I got to share it with my father, my best friend, his father and 3 of our friends, watching it on a big screen projection tv which back in those days was the best tv around. Just an awesome experience. Definitely the best memory I've ever had watching hockey. I will never forget it. ![]() Easy. I'd move us Sandwich Massachusetts. I mean comon, that's a lay up. The fucking town's name is Sandwich! Game 7 cup finals triple overtime winner. We could even change our name to the Sandwich Dragons or the Calgary Sandwiches. Look, I haven't given it much thought, but I love sandwiches, so it makes perfect sense. Just imagine the mascot, a giant sandwich, this idea actually is pretty good lol. No all kidding aside, I would probably have to say somewhere in British Columbia, the greatest place on earth. Vancouver would be an easy choice, but that's be done so maybe Victoria BC on the island or somewhere else really cool that I don' even know about. Half our team irl is from Vancouver so they'd probably have some good suggestions. Playing in Burnaby could be cool, that's where EA sports is based out of, but I'd have to do some more research. Maybe Terrace BC, western Canada, a hockey market and also on a personal level has the greatest steelhead fishing in the world, so Esa could fish and play hockey. It's a no brainer. I mean I could also see us moving to Parma Italy, but the travel would be too much to handle. We stay in Canada. ![]() Well I've always been a fan of women wrestlers, not the Chyna types (rip), but the Stacey Keibler types. I find Keibler to be the hottest female wrestler of all time, but I'm not up to speed on all the current ones, so it's possible they could have found hotter by now, but doubtful. Anyway, yeah women wresterls, they're pretty bad ass, so I dig them. Women hockey players are pretty cool too, but I'd probably prefer wrestlers based on one factor. The smell of hockey gloves. Anyone who's ever played knows hockey gloves have a smell of their own like no other in the world. The idea of a woman giving me an HJ with a hand that smells of hockey gloves is pretty disturbing. I mean even after you wash your hands, the smell really doesn't come off. So for that factor I'd probably choose a woman wrestler. Also the wresting chicks are generally more acrobatic and that can be fun in the bedroom. So as long as the wrestling chick doesn't look like Awesome Kong, I'm probably down to run the train. ![]() That is correct. I plan to play until at least S40. When I finally retire I won't settle down immediately though, I'll most likely do a 3 month eating tour of Italy. I'll visit all the best food regions in northern, central and southern Italy as well as spend considerable time in Sicily. I expect to gain at least 30 pounds during this time and have at least 1 heart attack. If I surivive the trip I will then move to my custom fly fishing lodge in Kispiox British Columbia on the banks of the famous Kispiox river and live out my days steelhead fishing. I plan to start a bikini steelhead company and train the hottest women in the world to be steelhead guides for our clients and also my personal assistants. I will divorce my wife and hire a full-time chef, yes a hot one and all my needs will be fulfilled. It will be truly glorious. Now that I think about it, I may retire this season so I can start this whole process. Hmmm... SlappyMcDoodle Asks.... ![]() LOL comon man, I haven't written about Esa in a long time, I'm normally pretty humble, but once in a while you gotta write about your player and plug yourself. Gotta stay relevant, ya know? I've been keeping mostly to the lr in recent seasons, but I need some money so I gotta start writing again. What better time then when you win your 3rd cup as a player/gm. So yes, I do love me some Esa. ![]() Yes, I feel much cleaner now, thank you, it was getty pretty messy in there. All that shameless tire pumping and overstimulation about chicken parms and kate upton's tremendous cans. Thank you for putting me in my place. Much appreciated. Now I can focus on that fact that you gave me barely nothing to work with here despite all the great questions I've asked in your podcast. I see what goes around doesn't always come around. <3. Wait I stand corrected, you added some questions! ![]() Not parm-related? Shit that's tough. Let me think about this a minute... I would probably say my favorite food not involving sauce, cheese or pasta is Hibachi. I fucking love me some hibachi chicken, shrimp and lobster, but not those shitty rock lobsters, the high end stuff. I say Hibachi because they give you a ton of food and cook in front of you, so you know nobody spit in it or dipped their balls in it. It's clean and delicious. I enjoy the fried rice and noodles, yes I get both, I'm a glutton. I don't eat the salade they give you because fuck that noise, I'm not going there for lettuce. I save all my room for meat and rice. Oh I usually get some kind of appetizer, dumpings or otherwise. If I could have a hibachi in my house irl I would weight 300 pounds. Switching gears to part 2 of your question, thinking something my mom makes that does not involved sauce and cheese is very difficult. We were raised on sauce, cheese and pasta. Let me think on that a minute.... Ahhh ok she makes a pretty good stuffed pork loin, she does it with some kind of apple stuffing, it comes out amazing. it's moist, delicious and has some weird carmelized glaze on top. That's one of her top meals, she also makes some good straight up chicken cutlets and beef wellington. Oh and pancakes, she always made varous kind of pancakes growing up, apple, bannana, choc chip, etc which is probably why I am in less than ideal health right now lol. ![]() Hewitt is my all time favorite, I'd say her prime year was 1997. The movie would be I know what you did last summer. I've watched this terrible movie hundreds of times because she is so damn hot in it. In fact I've watched all her movies many times, which let's be honest are all pretty bad, but she is incredible. 1997-2001 were her prime years. You can think of this as beginning with I know what you did last summer and ending with Heartbreakers. She was hot as shit in heartbreakers, my god that scene where she's in the blue undewear, I think it changed my life. Anyway, yeah 97-2001. Don't get me wrong she was always hot, even in that terrible ghost whisperer show, until she had that kid recently and now she's dead to me, but before that up until let's say 2010/2012 she was #1 on my list. There will never be another hewitt. I've tried to find a replacement and nobody fits the bill. Hewitt cans will forever be #1 for Esa. ![]() I'd say they were generous! ahaha just kidding, yeah you probably should be higher, but I don't pay much attention to the top 100 tbh. It's nice for people to see where they rank, but I don't put much stock in it, so don't sweat it. Basically the opinion of a few people and normally the guys on thin rosters who play super high minutes get the most points and subsequently the highest rankings on these types of lists. I have no idea what they base it off, but just because your ranked 60, doesn't mean you aren't a top player on your team or a top player in the kind of role you play in the league. You had 227 hits, 35 points and had a 54.48 face off % on 1485 draws. That's a money season. You contributed in different areas that may not be flashy but are very important to team success. Personally that's what I value, so I'd put you above a winger who had let's say 45 points and 50 hits. You did more for the team, you're a more important player imo. So keep doing what you're doing, you're a stud. Bonk Asks.... ![]() I'd say in my waking hours, which is normally 16 hours a day, I spend roughly 2 hours staring at my lines and imagining the possibilities. That's time spent with eyes on my lines file in word. We have so many possibilties within our line up that literally 20 different set ups that could work. It's truly a GM's dream, I wish we had a longer season. I actually don't sim on my own, so I don't run tests, I think if I did I would totally derail and lose sight of my theory and systems. I analyze everything in depth and make decisions off results in the current sim, not what happened in a test. I think that's where people can get into trouble, counting too much on what happened in a test sim and hoping the same will happen in the real sim. It's always different. Yeah some things can work similar, line combos etc, but you can't be gauranteed the same result. It can be a useful tool, but you have to go off what's happening in the current sim and go with your gut. You could test sim a playoff series 10 times and win 10 of them, then get swept in the actual sim with everything the same. I focus on how my players are playing, generating shot totals, limiting shots against, winning face offs and putting the right people in positions to succeed. The rest is pretty much up to the sim gods. Sometimes not making a line change is more important than making one. I made no line or system changes all playoffs and we won the cup, despite looking at my lines for hours a day. You want to be prepared with ideas but know when to implement them. I knew we had the right system to win and stuck with it. Ok I went off a little there, but yes I tinker more in my brain then with them in the sim, although I do run a lot of tests in pre-season and change quickly in regular season if we're not doing well. I have ideas ready to go from my the time I spend thinking about them. So it is useful. ![]() I vehemently deny all allegations of PEP's. Performance Enhancing Parms are a completely outlandish claim developed by the anti-Dragon media to poo-poo our recent success. We do consume many parms during the post-season but they are free of any performance enhancing substances, unless you count deliciousness as being illegal. They are fucking delicious I have to admit. We use only the finest free range chickens for our parms, we massage them like those weird cows in japan, kobe beef or whatever that is, the good stuff. We do the same to our chickens. We use the highest rated chicken feed which results in premium breasts (you love premium breasts) and they provide our players with the purest protein possible. This high end protein allows our players muscles to perform at peak levels during the post-season. We outlast other teams. You could say that the attention and dedication to our parms enhance our performance, but there is nothing illegal about it and we work within the laws of the SHL food commission. ![]() I couldn't believe it. So ashamed. I will never live that down, I'm honestly surprised you don't have that fight coded in your sig. Shit... forget I said that! lol. The only way I figure you beat me is I was too tired from scoring so many goals that game, or I was drunk from the night before after partying with the winnipeg ice girls. We like to dog out your cheerleaders anytime we come to town. Mack usually leads the parade. In my defense though you are a goon and have more fighting experience, so you caught me off gaurd. I should have known you would come after me though, given your pugilist nature and freakishly long gangly arms. You were bult for fighting. I may be built like a linebacker and can definitely hold my own, but you came out quick, got a few good shots in and I could not recover. I'm not going to comment on this further because it's something I would like to forget. All I can say is round 2 is coming this season. Get ready. ![]() Yes I can. Cups > Top 100 Rankings. but congrats anyway. ![]() Bukks_a asks... ![]() Yes I love it. I was introduced to it during my time in the LSHL playing as Esa Hulkonen. I have never had official Latvian shashlik but we have a similar thing here in North America during the summer, we call it shish-kabob, it's basically the same thing. Marinated meats and vegetables on a skewer cooked over the fire. Goes great with beer. I love it. I hope to one day visit Latvia and eat true shashlik though. I know it's a special food there. I also heard about some summe festival where women wear vines around their heads or something and dance around, I don't know, could have been a dream maybe, but I think Mazais told me that once, or maybe he dreamed it. Either way I'd like to meet Girts Ankipans in person, he's a legend. Mazais keeps trying to get me to come visit but I'm worried he would kidnap me and lock me up in his basement, so I keep putting it off. We'll see what the future brings.
