Raiders trying to move up Raiders are looking to move up in the first to draft top prospect Robert Phelps
Sources from Halifax are reporting that the Raiders are trying to move up in the first round from the sixth overall pick. Sources do believe that the Raiders have interest in drafting a center, and the center that the Raiders may be interested in is
Robert Phelps , who is regarded as one of the top prospects this draft. The team is also in talks with another team to move up to the second round, possibility to select a goaltender such as
Aleksander Aleksandrov or Artom Zhumbayev , who they appear to have heavy interest in. If they are unable to move up, they still believe that Artom Zhumbayev will be available with the third round pick, but they may be more focused on drafting Aleksander Aleksandrov

Word out of Halifax is they are looking to trade two 200+ TPE Inactives (since the limit for inactives is 4 players), and will be taking a goaltender with the 6th overall pick unless they can move up in the draft, as they are sure that Gord Mckenzie and Robert Phelps will not be available at the sixth overall pick.
Detroit may be in search of a goaltender this draft aswell Diehls starting position in net may be in trouble...
The Falcons goaltending future has been uncertain for sometime now. Patrick Diehl, the Falcons current starter has been developing slowly. He is certainly not a top goaltender in the league, and is developing possibly too slow for the Falcons to win more in the playoffs, and the regular season. Speculation is that because of the slow growth of Diehl, they will be looking to draft a goaltender with their second round pick… a goaltender like Russian phenom Aleksandrov, Kazakhstan's Artom Zhumbayev, Carrick Murray, Jordin FourFour or Intars Vladimirovich Barsou.

This has been probably the main concern for many goaltenders entering the SMJHL Draft. Only few teams, like Halifax, Detroit and maybe Prince George (with Harris’s future uncertain) require a new starter, yet there are many goaltenders, good ones, such as
Aleksandrov, Artom Zhumbayev, Carrick Murray, Jordin FourFour or Intars Vladimirovich Barsou. A real problem for these young goaltenders this draft, some of them will likely drop to the later rounds of the draft.

Sophia Bennet emerged out of nowhere, and now she is being deemed as a top 5 prospect this draft by many. The top sniper right wing prospect may be drafted in the top 5 this draft, and many teams have interest in her. If she drops out of the top 5, whoever drafts her won’t regret it
Whalers shopping second overall pick
Reports out of Vancouver suggest the Whalers have been shopping the second overall pick. They are likely looking to move down, and with the depth of this draft, they believe that moving down would be the best way to go for the Whalers, as they have no set target on any players after the #1 pick. The Whalers are asking for an S34 first later in the draft and more… likely a pick in the second or third round… or a player, but that would be unlikely.
UPDATE: Nothings done yet, but sources are reporting that the top bidder is offering their first and early THIRD this SHL Draft for the second overall pick.
Colorado set with Boeing in net… still possible they select a goaltender
Despite the recent reports that Colorado searching for a goaltender this draft… they now appear set with Landon Boeing as their starter, as the Colorado management suggests. “We're set with Boeing.” exclaimed a member of the Mammoths management. There is still some possibility that they select a goaltender in the second round, but that possibility seems unlikely.
Knights to lose another important piece Soon to be Chiefs regular Halfdan Thorstein at training camp
As the Knights are very sure that they will be losing top forwards Vasily Horvat and Cory Knouse this offseason to call ups, Halfdan Thorstein being called up this season is also a huge possibility. The Chiefs may call him up, based on how the player feels about his situation. Losing Thorstein would mean the Knights biggest focus this draft is replacing all the forwards they had lost to callups… which is many.
Harris future in Prince George uncertain
Stephen Harris, currently the Firebirds starters future is currently uncertain. The goaltender needs to be signed to an SHL contract in order to play in the SMJHL, but it appears that the Hamilton Steelhawks will not be resigning the young goaltender, who was a prospect of the team. With that, the Firebirds will need to find a way to get Harris signed, either being by signing the goaltender themselves, which may not be possible, or find a way to get a current SHL team to sign the Firebirds starter.
