The Hamilton Steelhawks didn't change too much during the off-season. We drafted two late players in rieksts and MayTee who look to be some good depth for potentially making the team in the future. Dwayne Wyder changed his strength from checking to defense, which turns him from a hitting power forward into a strong defender in my opinion. He also added a bunch of TPE, about 100 if I remember correctly. So that should help a lot. The biggest change for the team has to have been the trade for Zander Rhys, which gives the team three D men above 1300 TPE, which is pretty insane. The only downside I see is that the team only has 1 passing first defenseman and the other 5 D are shooting first D. Which makes things a bit tricky when it comes to lines, but it's a great problem to have. This season should be a great one for the Steelhawks.

Easy money. The biggest and best change that we made to the roster this season was bringing up arguably the greatest junior player of all time, artermis. The Prince George Firebirds legend made a splash in his last season down in juniors, and is goign to turn this team into the championship roster that everyone knows we are. His poise on the ice is unparalleled among the rookies in his class and his goal-scoring ability is world-renowned. He's spending some time on the third line with veteran Travis Jeziak and Platoon legend Slappy McDoodle during his farewell season. Time with such prolific veterans is sure to prepare him for his inevitable role in the top six of the Platoon.

Also we brought Trevor Wilson in. He's slotting in nicely on the second line but he should sleep with one eye open--Vyskoc could take his spot at any time he wants.

Welp, lets kick this off right. The Four Star Cup not only BELONGS in Kelowna, but is coming here no matter what. This team was young, lacked way too many players at 300+ TPE and seemed to be everyone's favorite hate stick. Well the Knights have a near complete roster of 300+ TPE players, myself included. Not only that boyos but our lineup has great cohesion. Our special teams, a nightmare last year, are almost bar none. We can score goals like nobody's business and have what it takes as far as I am concerned. I personally have made the second line as a solid, shutdown defense man. Dorts and BB are on probably the BEST DAMN Second line in the SMJHL.

Sure there are things we could improve on but that may happen as time progresses. Honestly everything is in place for an absolutely dominant run to the cup. Lets Go Boys.

Prince George is coming off one of the best seasons in team history and we are certainly going to struggle to match such a season. We have a lot of roster turnover and the biggest issue is losing Picard and Grossman. Two capped defenseman is hard to replace when we only have one active defenseman as is. On top of that, we had no draft picks in the last draft, so we can't even reload, short of free agents throughout the season. That being said, we are lucky enough to have 6 active forwards and can replace the many forwards we lost, including Dio and Banana. Tuck is going to be capped in goal, so the strategy is going to be score a lot and hope Tuck can be solid enough to help us win. Overall, I think we certainly took a step back in terms of defending, but we are lucky to have 3 capped forwards, with the chance to have 6 by the end of the season, and have a capped goalie. Will we repeat? Probably not, but preseason showed we are still very dangerous and can easily make the playoffs if our top line's chemistry continues to gel.

It is becoming a tradition that when Manhattan wins the Challenge Cup, the team blows up before the next season begins.

The team has lost several key players and management as we move into the new season.

Gone are retirees Geoffrey Allen and Winston Windsor whose contributions to the Cup run will not be easily replaced. Gone to Free Agency is Crossfit Jesus, who was poised to become the next elite talent on the Rage. And then, gone to trade and controversy was Brett Kennedy, not only a premier defensive centerman but also the coGM of the team whose lines and strategies were key to the Rage victory.

In to try and replace them are returning Rage legend Kian Hamilton, who is still a a gamer but is retiring after this season so he is not a long-term solution. Matthias Holmberg joins the team and keep the D-squad as one of the best in the league so no issues there. And shoring up the lost forward positions is Yurily Starkanov and Wolf von Hammersmark, who, while maybe having less TPE, are young and still growing.

What does this all add up to? It leads me to believe the only way the Rage repeat is that returning stars like Redding, Atmey, Hans, Nuck, Wollker, and Aittokallio have exceptionally fine seasons, as they will be much top-heavier and less balanced than a season ago.

This off-season, the Edmonton Blizzard took a huge step towards competing for a SHL Playoff spot. During the off-season, the Blizzard used some of their draft capital to make huge moves that will have an affect all throughout the lineup. The moves brought in three players who immediately make the Blizzard a better team.

The first player brought in was forward Cory Knouse. Knouse brings high end skill to Edmonton's top 6 and helps slot every other forward into more favourable lineup spots. He slots beside star centre Nikolaus Scholz on the first line and brings a physical, offensive game to the ice. He's going to open up the ice for his linemates, while also being a scoring threat as well. The second addition was adding an elite defenseman in Viatcheslav Orlov. Orlov steps in as the top defender on the Blizzard and will give Edmonton that number one defenseman they needed. He can do everything you want a number one to do. He'll score, hit, shot block, and make those breakout passes to exit the zone. His addition to the team will be huge in helping this team make the playoffs. The last big addition was between the pipes. Edmonton picked up star goaltender Michael McFadden in a trade with Seattle. McFadden will solidify that goalie spot for the Blizzard and give them a goalie who can steal a game when things aren't going that well. The acquisition of McFadden might just be the biggest factor in Edmonton finally getting back to the SHL playoffs.

These three changes, as well as the continued development of Edmonton's young guns, are definitely moves in the right direction. Edmonton can now officially start to look at playoffs as a real goal.

The Blizzard's offseason moves puts the league on notice that Edmonton is competing for a Challenge Cup now. Three moves defined the offseason and made significant improvements to the Blizzard at every major position.

At forward, the team has acquired Cory Knouse. Knouse is a tried and true winger who will slot alongside longtime Blizzard center Nickolaus Scholz on the first line. Knouse brings offensive firepower and a new scoring threat to what could have been defined as a pacified Blizzard corps. The aspect of Knouse's game that excites us most is the space he will create for the top line. The Blizzard now have a complete first line that acts as an offensive threat.

At defense, the Blizzard acquired Viatcheslav Orlov. This fills a big need the Blizzard had a defense, with the team struggling to have a defined #1 defenseman. Orlov checks all the boxes on defense, and will serve as a veteran presence for the young defensive corps in Edmonton.

Finally, the Blizzard addressed their biggest need and plucked a top tier goalie in Michael McFadden. McFadden is not only a serviceable netminder, but he can also bail out the Blizzard in tough games. Although he is in back 9 of his career, he will still be a top notch goalie in Edmonton for years to come.

Overall, I am very proud of our management and the changes that they have made. The Blizzard had a number of draft picks turn out over the past few seasons, and could afford to sell off a bit of the future to address the issues that have kept them in the bottom three of the West. The Blizzard now have a window over the next few seasons to win a Cup.

The Montreal Militia are facing a big challenge in the upcoming season 39. One of the final four teams last season is tasked with doing the same this season, only without several big names from the year before. The big losses will be two players who have been called up to the SHL in Jack and Connor Tanner. Those two were huge for Montreal last season so the team will have to see how they bounce back from the loss. Also no longer playing for the Militia this season are Dustin Evans, Louisa Koller, Gilfred Andersson, and Inari Twain, among a few other role players. No doubt this team is going to need a lot of stepping up from their new blood. Fortunately due to a trade and some good drafting Montreal has welcomed in a good crop of new players who are up to the challenge. Hoping to cover some of the points lost by the call-ups are Lizzy Jukka, Radovan Hudec, Rainer Cartright-Davis, Crystal Roy, Viktor Valentine, Krists Zommers, Walter Hobbs, and Max Hansen. While some may not start with much responsibility at the beginning of the season, if everyone keeps up with their workouts this could be a very formidable team come playoff time. Overall I think it's going to be a tougher road to the Four Star Cup this season, but it's a road that I think these guys can handle and I'm looking forward to walking it with them.

The big off season addition for the texas renegades was getting Conklin Owen back from his absolutely ridiculous season long suspension from last season. Anytime you can add a power forward of his nature – he can hit, skate, puck handle in a phone booth, play solid two way hockey and can light the lamp like no other, your team should be in good shape to win night in and night out.

Another addition to the team was Steven Stamkos Jr. and although he is naturally a center, he will end up playing wing most of the season. He doesn’t take the body, but can skate, back check and score and will round out texas’ top 6 forward lines to provide some depth and take pressure off of the first line.

On the defensive side, Black was lost to retirement and replaced with Ty Justice who will jump in on the first line with Vader. Justice likes to hit and play physical and can skate and pass well, but doesn’t score much and has trouble handling the puck.

The Platoon have done a lot of things this offseason, I said they did not do shit but they actually did do something. They did two things actually and two changes. By doing things like trades, call-ups and signings.

They made a trade by acquiring pending FA Trevor Wilson from the Seattle Riot. It was a big addition to the offense core because he is a fantastic player. That solved the offensive problems with scoring. They have also called up two bright future stars of the SHL, defenseman Sven Brokstad and forward Dionyz Vyskoc. These are are going to be great players and great addition above inactives.

There were also build changes such as Leafer Rielly being more aggressive, Jon Ross scoring more goals. Not that is a big change but can I see there is a new chemistry in West Kendall.

This offseason put the platoon in the right direction for the Challenge Cup.

For the past few seasons Calgary has called up and positioned a handful of young players into small roles within the line up.. Here in 39 those young players have moved from smaller into key roles within the team. It starts with hybrid winger Dani Forsberg who has officially been promoted to the teams first line, a spot that for many seasons has been held by great veterans of the franchise. Forsberg looked great along side Joe K during preseason where both of them combined for 64 points in just 44 games! Mike Izzy, the teams power forward has been promoted to a top 6 role, now sitting on the teams 2nd line. Roman Augustus who made the a huge statistical jump late in season 38 is now a key cog in our defensive unit and will look to play upwards of 20 min per game on the teams top line. Casey Creller, a hard hitting peripheral based defenceman has moved his tpe to a spot that got him a promotion to the teams top 4 as he works on the 2nd line. A step in the right direction is probably not the right way to look at this..it’s more of a step of necessity,,,, it simply was time for this to happen. Calgary has had an amazing group of players for a long time.
