Los Angeles Panthers Captains Announcement
Fresh off a run to the Challenge Cup Finals, the Panthers came up just short of the post-season in season 40. The team was disappointed for sure, but the team had fought hard all season long and gained a lot of valuable experience in the process. After the season concluded, Panthers Captain Matthew Leetch made an unexpected visit to the GM's office. "Look I've noticed somebody who has been out-performing me, not on the ice, but in the locker room and with the fans. I love this team and remain committed to whatever is best for the organization, There's somebody else who deserves the opportunity to wear the C."
Alternate Captain - Matthew Leetch !!
Matthew Leetch has been amazing for the Panthers since the day he joined the organization. We would have never asked NYR to step down as the teams captain, but it's something that he brought up and thought would be best for the Panthers. While he may be relinquishing the C, I won't think of Leetch as any less of a leader on this team. He's been a fixture on our blue-line for his entire career and somebody who will go down as one of the best captains in the Panthers history. Leetch is our top defenseman and somebody the team can rely on in any situation.

Alternate Captain - Yuri Boyka Jr. !!
A new member to the leadership group, Yuri Boyka Jr. is somebody who has grown up with the Panthers organization and always had close ties to the organization. Boyka recently signed a 3 season contract extension with the team and is just now hitting his stride. Expect Boyka to put up elite numbers for seasons to come and be a huge part of the Panthers attack. Boyka is somebody who leads by example out on the ice and his hockey bloodlines certainly help him when it comes to understanding the ins and outs of the game, on & off the ice.

Captain - Sophia Bennett !!
The new captain of the Los Angeles Panthers is a true superstar and one of the most noticeable members of the SHL community, Sophia Bennett!! Sophia joined the Panthers as the teams first round selection in the season 35 SHL draft and has developed into one of the most exciting offensive players in the league. Bennett was a huge part of the S39 Western Conference Champions and enjoyed her best career regular season in season 40. Bennett is still trending up and is somebody that any team would want on the ice when they need a goal. She's also somebody that any team would want in their locker room and the Panthers are very lucky to have as the teams captain. Congrats Sophia, you get first dibs on the cup now!!
