Hamilton Chemistry
#1

Duos run the league, trios potentially break it. That's just the way "chemistry" has worked in the STHS engine. You find a good duo scoring talent on your team? Well you just found the backbone of your offense for a long time until regression or a build choice breaks it. You somehow found a trio line? Well your line is about to tear up the league in scoring for as long as they are together. For GMs and coaches, it's all about finding these duos and trios in your lines in order for your team to sim well in the regular season. It's often difficult for a GM or coach to find it right away, especially with constantly changing builds, regression, and holes to fill in your line up, finding a duo is incredibly satisfying as you watch them constantly get assists off each other. Finding a trio is like hitting the jackpot as you only have to worry the other lines now, but obviously this is extremely hard to actually find when 3 player's builds synchronize with each other so well.

And in the city of Hamilton, general manager DT of the Hamilton Steelhawks is pretty certain he just figured out one duo, at least for the time being. The duo consists of two of the youngest players in the Steelhawks organization; Lyndis Vakarian drafted 4th overall in the S38 SHL Draft, and Vijanupatan Singh who was acquired in a trade for Connor Blackwell from the Winnipeg Jets.

The two played on the 3rd line for the entire season, with no PP time, no PK time, and only an average of 15-16 minutes of ice time between the two. During that time, they two scored 28 and 27 points respectively on a line with a player whose build was incorrect in the sim for more than 3/4 of the season.... And so what? A couple of young 3rd liners scored 25+ points during their growing seasons, that's normal to see right? Well we'll have to look deeper into the box scores to see how their chemistry is.

Bold Text are primary assists  || Italic Text are secondary assists  || Red Text is when Singh and Vakarian assist a teammate

Vijanupatan Singh 1 (Lyndis Vakarian 1, Jakub Trocheck 1)
Vijanupatan Singh 2 (Lyndis Vakarian 3, Tommy Salami 1)
Lyndis Vakarian 1 (Vijanupatan Singh 1, Tommy Salami 2)
Ronnie Westbrook 1 (Lyndis Vakarian 4, Vijanupatan Singh 2)
Vijanupatan Singh 3 (Lyndis Vakarian 5)
Vijanupatan Singh 4 (Lyndis Vakarian 6, Ben Dover 6)
Vijanupatan Singh 5 (Jakub Trocheck 3, Lyndis Vakarian 7)
Vijanupatan Singh 6 (Lyndis Vakarian 8, Tommy Salami 4)
Vijanupatan Singh 7 (Lyndis Vakarian 10, Tommy Salami 5)
Lyndis Vakarian 4 (Vijanupatan Singh 5, Tommy Salami 6)
Vijanupatan Singh 9 (Jakub Trocheck 9, Lyndis Vakarian 11)
Vijanupatan Singh 10 (Lyndis Vakarian 12, Finn Krüger 14)
Finn Krüger 6 (Lyndis Vakarian 13, Vijanupatan Singh 8)
Lyndis Vakarian 7 (Tommy Salami 10, Vijanupatan Singh 9)
Lyndis Vakarian 8 (Jakub Trocheck 10, Vijanupatan Singh 10)

Lyndis Vakarian 10 (Vijanupatan Singh 11, Brennan Kennedy 3)
Vijanupatan Singh 11 (Lyndis Vakarian 14, Brennan Kennedy 4)
Brennan Kennedy 3 (Lyndis Vakarian 15, Vijanupatan Singh 14)
Vijanupatan Singh 12 (Brennan Kennedy 5, Lyndis Vakarian 16)
Lyndis Vakarian 12 (Brennan Kennedy 7, Vijanupatan Singh 15)

So to put that into more plainer terms:
Vakarian directly assisted Singh in 8 of his twelve goals
Singh directly assisted Vakarian in 3 of her twelve goals
The two directly asissted each other a total of 11 times out of their combined 24 goals.

Vakarian had a secondary assist in 3 of Singh's 12 goals
Singh had a secondary assist in 3 of Vakarian's 12 goals
The two contributed to 6 of their 24 combined goals.

The two worked together to assist a teammate a total of 3 times, assisted Westbrook for 33% of his goals (pikalul)
If you remove all goals and assists that the two contributed to each other, Vakarian would have 6 goals and 5 assists. Singh would have 1 Goal and 9 assists.
They had a combined 55 points during the regular season. With the above stats, they would have a combined 21 points.

If you ONLY remove primary assists from the two's points, Vakarian would have 9 goals and 8 assists while Singh would have 4 goals and 12 assists. Combined that is only 33 points.

The duo clearly has a dependence on each other for points as they constantly set each other up for goals and assists and that's all fine and dandy seeing as how both are expected to be playing for the Steelhawks for at least another season, but there are a few things that can be noticed from their boxscores.
  • Vakarian isn't as dependant on Singh for her own goals
Singh isn't seen to be passing it to Vakarian as much as Vakarian does to himself, despite the fact that Vakarian takes more shots overall than Singh. As such, even when primary assists or assists in general is taken away from their points, Vakarian still has at least 1/2 of her goals assisted from other teamates around her.
  • Singh is either dependant on Vakarian for his goals, or Vakarian is dependant on Singh for her assists
This one is subjective to how you would see it. Either Singh relies on Vakarian to pass the puck to him when he scores, or it's flipped where Vakarian needs Singh to finish on her passes. I'm more inclined to believe it's the other way around that Vakarian relies on Singh to score, especially as most of her assists are primarily to Singh, meaning that she's probably looking for him on the ice to shoot.
  • Flipped
This is more for the future, but did you notice how Singh's scoring started going down after the beginning of the season and Vakarian's started rising? Well it's likely that due to Vakarian being younger and having more room to grow, she might take the spot of the shooter instead as Singh led the shots between the two early until Vakarian eventually took over.

So can we conclude something about the two? Will these two be the next elite scorers in the league? Should I say trio instead of duo as Kennedy started lighting the lamp once his build was fixed? It would make an epic line called the SVK line сука блять. Time will tell, but there's at least one thing that I think everyone can agree on....Waters stinks

I actually think the line would have done even better if BK's build wasn't messed up. The last quarter of the season you guys were great!
