Goaltending Review

Kata Vilde (KEL): Vilde faced just 16 shots and was only beat once by a clearly overmatched Scarecrows team in this game. He was on his game and in the Crows heads as the game went on, only Nicholas Falk managed to break through midway through the third to prevent the shutout. Another quality performance from Vilde as he backstops his team towards the top of the league standings, as the Knights aim for a third straight Four Stars Cup win this season.

Friedrich Schmidt (STL): This was a dismal performance from the Crows starter, just ten saves on 14 shots in a little under half the game. He never gave his team a chance to get settled and it showed on the scoresheet. Schmidt was yanked after James Dekens' goal in the second and replaced by the backup Vincent.

Willis Vincent (STL): Coming in as relief for an overpowered and outplayed Schmidt, Vincent did what he could to stop the bleeding. He made six saves on seven shots in just over thirty minutes of game time. Not an otherworldly performance, but enough to keep the Crows from being embarrassed worse as the game went on.

Welcome back to the 15th and final edition of the Shot Blocker of the Game award. Tonight's winner and final winner of the award is...

Gordie Maple of the St. Louis Scarecrows.

The Scarecrows didn't have a lot to be happy about tonight but Maple dropped 3 pucks on their way to the net and helped keep this game from getting anymore out of hand than it did. His highlight of the night came early in the first period when Cash Savage and Daddy Mack were blocked and cleared by Maple in back to back possessions. This kept the game tied at 0 before the flood gates inevitably opened up and the Knights put a beating on the Scarecrows.

Workhorse of the Game: Michael Fischer - KEL

G  A  P  +/- PIM S  H  SB GA TA FO     MP     PP MP  PK MP
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
0  1  1   0       0  3  2  1   0  0  0/0      22:13   3:13   2:18

For tonight’s workhorse of the game we don’t have to look much further than Viktor Michael Fischer. Needing no introduction Fischer was on full display tonight. Leadership can be found in many facets on and off the ice but, many will say leading by example is the best way to do it. Fischer was deployed heavily tonight. With nearly 5 minutes of special team time and 3 shots, 2 hits and a block he clearly put it all out there tonight over the full 60. Fischer will be expected to be a workhorse in even strength and special team’s situations for his team coming into the playoffs. He logged an impressive 22:13 minutes of ice time which saw him control the PP and be relied on in the PK.  Congratulations to Micael Fischer for his workhorse of the game award.

Mack Truck of the Game:  Deku Izuku - KEL

G  A  P  +/- PIM S  H  SB GA TA FO     MP     PP MP  PK MP
------------------------------------------------------------------------
0  0  0   2      0   1  4  2   0  0  0/0      20:59   3:25   2:57

This award doesn’t need much explanation folks. The Mac Truck of the game is a player who is going out there and throwing his weight. This player excels at putting the body to others and making every single player on the ice think about them when they’re out there. This was clearly Deku Izuku tonight without question. There were a few out there mixing it up and throwing the body but, not only did Izuku throw the body he also had an impressive night all over the ice. With 4 devastating hits to his name accompanied by a shot 2 blocks and 20:59 of ice time this man was everywhere. He was a gem special teams as well with over 3 mins on the PP and nearly 3 on the Pk. He has a knack for all areas of the ice. He will make you think about where you are and keep you honest. This is a hard hitting, bone breaking forward that many teams wish they could have. It is all these reasons that set apart our Mack Truck of the game.
