ready for grading 2651 words

Thought this might be an interesting idea. Basically, I took every team in the SMJHL's top 2 players and matched them into a district in a Hunger Games sim, and then I took all 8 team's third best scorer and compiled them into the last four districts as "wild cards" in a sense. Here's what the matchups currently look like.

As you can see, the logos got horrifically distorted but THAT'S OK! I might space this project out over the next few days, or maybe I'll just one gun it and bust the whole thing out in like 5 seconds. Hope you guys find this relatively cool, I want to try doing this every season :D.

Starting the sim here:

Day One

Upon the horn sounding, Barret McCarthy dips away from the cornucopia as fast as he can, just sends it the other direction lol. Eero Niemi however, elected to stay at the cornucopia and try his luck at getting some loot. Nickolas Klaus from the Kelowna Knights found a bow with some arrows, and as he is the first one recorded in the game to have obtained a weapon he appears to be the top threat to watch out for so far. Vince Rieper from the Raiders and Tony Pepperoni from the Falcons are also electing to run away from the cornucopia, seeking safety as opposed to the risky opportunity to secure some goodies.

In the first big event in the sim, Hippo Passamus from Detroit finds a sais and immediately rushes for Alexander Selich, managing to grab a hold of him and stab him repeatedly in what looks like the first victim of this season's Hunger Games.

Boris Denisovich, Cassius Darrow and David Fantobens are also all seen evading the cornucopia, while Jack Kennedy sneakily finds himself a shield for protection.

Oof! Nicky Pederson Jr. mercilessly beats Konstantin Voloshin to a pulp. For a moment it appears as though he's going to get spared, however Nicky ends up finishing the job and putting Voloshin out of his misery, making for the second victim of the crazy cornucopia battle.

On the other end of the hectic zone, Oliver Kovacs and Willy Mack spend some time wrestling over a bag full of supplies, however after some tugging Kovacs decides to cut his losses and retreat back into the woods, valuing his safety over the bag.

Dean Colt III and Philipp Winter are spotted fleeing the cornucopia as well, guaranteeing their safety while Kristof Kovacs gets lucky and finds a collection of throwing knives that he might use to put down some potential victims. Xena also runs from the cornucopia.

In a big day one finale, Sanyi Kocsis, Luke Thomason, and Derek Bohne are seen having it out and a crazy three way fight, however Thomason manages to escape while Kocsis gets the upperhand on Bohne, unfortunately putting him down and wrapping up the crazy battle in the cornucopia.

Jack Kennedy, upon fleeing successfully from the mayhem that was the cornucopia battle, manages to find himself a river to drink from. A big upper hand for a player especially this early in the game.

In an unfortunate case of dumb luck, Tony Pepperoni dies from an infection in what might be the lamest way to go in this sim engine. Given how much of a tear Hippo Passamus was on yesterday however, it could be said that the Falcons representation is still in good hands. Nicky Pederson Jr. gets lucky and has an anonymous sponsor deliver him some fresh water, it is likely that his good performance in the cornucopia fight is what got him the attention of sponsors. Nicholas Williams from the Scarecrows takes some free time to work on his archery.

The ever threatening Hippo Passamus has taken the time to make himself a wooden spear, making him even more of a danger to the other players than he was when he was just using his bare fists. While other players are taking the opportunity to find resources, or craft weapons… Eero Niemi is sleeping throughout the entire day. Could this be a viable strategy for the early game or is he dooming himself to an early defeat?

Nickolas Klaus, who also already has a bow and arrows he secured from the cornucopia, crafts himself a wooden spear as well. We have yet to see much physicality from Klaus thus far in the game but you can tell he is certainly putting a focus on preparation, which is admirable. Dean Colt III also managed to get his hands on trident, and is currently using it to try and spear some fish, which will likely be a hot commodity as we have not seen many people secure much food as of recently.

In a big (also strange) confrontation, Cassius Darrow begs Boris Denisovich to kill him, however Denisovich refuses and allows Darrow to leave free. Not kidding this is actually what it says in the sim engine, whatever ok then. Checking in on David Fantobens, he is currently camouflaging himself into some trees, hiding from the rest of the other players.

In a shocking twist of events, Xena pounces from the bushes and ambushes Sanyi Kocsis from the Kelowna Knights, killing him and making Xena one of our top tributes to be on the lookout for. Getting back to some more resource collecting, Luke Thomason is also found retrieving himself some bundles of firewood, likely preparing for a cold night. Hopefully if he lights a fire he doesn’t draw any unwanted attention though.

Vince Rieper from the Raiders catches sight of Philipp Winter and manages to scare him off, ending that encounter rather quickly. On some unluckier Raider news, Kristof Kovacs catches sight of Willy Mack and immediately runs away, unfortunately spraining his ankle in the process and leaving him injured. Definitely do not want that to happen to you in a game like this.
Barret McCarthy is currently finding himself stalking Oliver Kovacs, waiting to make his move. Scott Neidermayer Jr. however is currently spending his time practicing archery. Very wholesome.

Night One

Shortly after the cannons go off signaling the demise of five fellow tributes, Eero Niemi gets fortunate and secures a sponsor! Delivered to him is a case of medical supplies, despite not needing them at the moment you never know if they'll come in handy. Speaking of medicine, Xena spends the first night tending to wounds she might have suffered in her ambush of Sanyi Kocsis.

What looks to be an alliance of Philipp Winter, Nicholas Williams, Cassius Darrow, Scott Niedermayer Jr., and Willy Mack, they take turns sleeping in shifts throughout the night. Possibly the safest thing to do would to be have grouped up and protect each other, smart playing by this bunch. Time will tell to see how well their alliance holds up though.

Unfortunately, Barret McCarthy takes it upon himself to commit suicide due to the stress of the games. Another absolutely lame death by the sim engine but fucc it. Meanwhile, Kristof Kovacs decides to pull an all nighter to keep his guard up, and Jack Kennedy is seen allowing Nicky Pederson Jr. take refuge in his shelter, as it would appear that Kennedy and Pederson are taking it upon themselves to team up together. How sweet. Hippo Passamus, David Fantobens, and Oliver Kovacs spend the night singing songs with each other. Weird flex, but ok. Strange strategy for a survival fight to the death game but nothing bad has happened to them yet so let's let them live. In another alliance, Dean Colt III and Luke Thomason bond together throughout the night, telling stories with one another about life back home I guess? How nice, it's a shame only one of them if not neither of them will make it out of these games alive. Tragic.

An ominous scream for help is heard, it is the voice of Nickolas Klaus. Is he potentially in danger? We will have to stay tuned to find out. (Spoiler alert: He's not.)

Day Two

With a total of six casualties so far in the games including Barret McCarthy who took his own life last night, the games still have plenty of thinning out to do before we reach any sort of conclusion. One can only hope for my sake that with less people I'll have less shit to type because we're only a day in and I'm at over 1500 words. Bankroll.

The day begins with Nickolas Klaus camouflaging himself into a tree, which has proven to be a useful strategy I guess, but only if you are any good at camouflage. Kristof Kovacs spends his morning picking berries until he is pricked by some thorns. Unless they're some sort of toxic thorns I am not sure what the point in telling us that he got pricked was so I guess we will have to just wait and see if something happens to Kristof. Jack Kennedy notices some strange smoke billowing in the distance, but decides that it is not worth his time to go and investigate.

And in the first confrontation of the day, Luke Thomason gets the jump on Vince Rieper, however after some brief fighting Vince manages to get away unscathed. Lucky for him too, we almost had our first cannon of the day. Unfortunately for Hippo Passamus, he is currently finding himself questioning his sanity. Could this be related to the life he took earlier in the games? We'll have to see how he holds up. In another kind sponsorship delivery, Scott Niedermayer Jr. finds himself getting some medical supplies as well. He is not injured, but in the case that he might get hurt soon they will surely come in handy. While David Fantobens searches far and wide for a source of water, Dean Colt III manages to track down and murder Cassius Darrow via trident in the back. On some Poseidon shit for real. First casualty of the day goes to Darrow via trident in the back, nice. In another sponsorship delivery, Willy Mack finds himself in possession of a hatchet. What he will do with that we will have to stay tuned and find out.

In a crazy turn of events, Eero Niemi, Xena, Oliver Kovacs and Boris Denisovich all find themselves teaming up to track down and successfully murder Nicky Pederson Jr. We have no way of knowing what lead to this group teaming up to murder Pederson Jr, but perhaps they seen him as a threat that had to be eliminated as soon as possible. On the other side of the field, Philipp Winter gets lucky and finds himself a fresh water source. Very important at any point in the game for sure. In another unfortunate demise, Nicholas Williams pulls straight off the Oregon Trail and dies of dysentery. Weird.

Night Two

With a total of nine dead tributes and 15 remaining, the competition come the second night is getting down to the wire. Unable to maneuver in the dark, Xena loses track of where she is while Oliver Kovacs climbs up a tree to get some rest. David Fantobens finds himself having some trouble sleeping so he decides to take a minute to literally sing himself to sleep (lol idk). Kristof Kovacs manages to catch some rest while Dean Colt III finds a nice tree to rest in as well, a relatively safe night happening so far. Everyone minding their own business getting some sleep so far. Eero Niemi climbs a tree to sleep while Vince Rieper opens up his shelter to allow Jack Kennedy in for some rest. Potential new alliance? While everyone has no trouble finding their shelter, Boris Denisovich is found passed out due to exhaustion, hopefully he manages to get somewhere safe soon before the elements get the better of him.

While everyone remains docile and sleeping, Scott Neidermayer Jr. sets off a bomb, killing Philipp Winter immediately and bringing us our first victim of the night. Meanwhile Luke Thomason finds himself a nice spot to rest up in a tree and Nicholas Klaus unfortunately passes out from exhaustion as well, just like we seen happen to Denisovich. Hippo Passamus is seen tending to his wounds while Willy Mack quietly hums by his lonesome in his shelter. A relatively calm night still brought us one casualty in Winter, bringing our tribute total down to 14.

Day Three

To begin the third day, we see Luke Thomason, Nick Klaus and Scott Niedermayer Jr. band together to hunt down some other tributes together. We'll have to see if they come up successful :O. In another generous sponsor, Hippo Passamus finds himself delivered some food, coming in extremely handy especially at this point in the game, while another alliance is formed between David Fantobens, Oliver Kovacs, Jack Kennedy, Eero Niemi, and Vince Rieper. Definitely a pretty big alliance at this point, and certainly the biggest threat of the game right now. In our third alliance of the day it consists of Kristof Kovacs, Boris Denisovich, Dean Colt III all banding together to hunt tributes too. Interesting to see everyone so devoted to murder. Willy Mack and Xena are seen spending the day working together too, even though they're not focused on hunting other tributes. Only one cannon shot heard in the distance to end the day, and that is for Philipp Winter who was blown up by Neidermayer Jr. last night.
