After a trying prospect showcase, everyone's favourite rookie Fork Spoon was drafted in spot number 62 by St. Louis. "Elated" was how Spoon described his feelings in regard to being chosen to the future dynasty in St. Louis. "Y'know, they have an incredible pedigree of players over here, and I couldn't be happier to join them". When asked about his expectations compared to his overall draft position, Spoon stated that he didn't really have many expectations and he just wanted to make which ever team drafted him proud. "I know that I may have not gone in the first few rounds, but that sort of takes some pressure off of me. I just want to prove that every team who passed on me made a mistake. Believe me, the name Fork Spoon will go down in SMJHL history." Pretty confident and inspiring words for the first year forward out of BC. Making the jump to the SMJHL will no doubt be a change for Spoon. Moving into a bigger, stronger league will no doubt take some time to get used to. When asked about the locker room so far Spoon gave some insight into how tight knit this team is. "Immediately the GM reached out to me and introduced me to the rest of the boys. I was welcomed to the team with open arms and I look forward to winning championships with this team." When asked about his off-ice preparation for his first year in the SMJHL Spoon responded "Well, I've gotten bigger and stronger. I know I can out muscle most players at this level and throw a bit of intimidation into my game as well. My real focus has been studying tape to understand positioning better, hoping to improve my defense." The burly winger no doubt has a bit of snarl to his game, and he hopes to bring that into his rookie campaign in St. Louis. "Honestly, this is the first part of my dream, I have a hard time believing it is real life, but I have a serious opportunity to play hockey for a living. Signing that first big ticket has got me really excited for the possibilities of my future with the St. Louis." It is clear that Spoon can say and seemingly do the right things to be a force in this league, we just hope that he can keep up the good work and become the force on the ice that we know he can. "I'll look to bring dynamic play on the ice, and the off-ice goofball that has caused my team mates to enjoy my company for my whole life. If I can help the boys smile every day, then I think that goes a long way in building a strong, winning locker room." We will look forward to seeing Spoon don the St. Louis jersey in his first game.
