Austrian Media Spreading Lies about Rival Czech WJC Team!
#1

Recently, the Austrian Press published an attempted hit piece titled "Czech Players and Staff Spotted Leaving Strip Club !?!" With zero to little factual bases.

It is well known that there is a massive Germany-Austria and Czechoslovakia rivalry, going as far back as the Sudetenland incident. It would be considered heinous, even by rival standards, to attempt to get an entire team removed from the tournament with information outside of the realm of hockey, and so far away from the rinks.

We will present the actual facts of the night in question, and clear up the utter mess of lies that the incompetent German lead Austrian Media has tried to place in the laps of the Czech skaters. For beginners, not a single player from the Czech National team, whether it be World Juniors or otherwise, was in the vicinity of the aforementioned Strip club in question. The team had scheduled team building exercises at the hotel on that night and all members were in attendance. Due to the high notoriety that the IIHF brings around, the Czech teams had armed security present at the hotel with them, but at no point did any of them leave the premise of the hotel either. Players were shocked and disturbed to hear of the article that had spread like wild fire as they were gathering for their morning practice skates.

The Coaches and Managers of the Czech team were furious, actively avoiding media from outside of the Czech Republic. Bernie Sanders denounced all statements made by the Austrian media and promptly left the room upon seeing reporters starting to file in to ask questions about the article in question. Another coach threw his hands up in disgust and muttered something under his breathe as he stormed out of the room as well.

We caught up with a few of the players after their time on the ice. It should be noted that the ice was buzzing and players were coming with a massive intensity and there was a new energy in both sets of groups, IIHF and WJC alike.
David Vent, World Juniors player had this to say

"The article's only purpose was to hurt and denounce the Czech National Team. Austria has never liked us and would love nothing more than seeing us removed from the WJC. All accounts are false and all statements are made up."

David Vent proceeded to show the media his snapchat, where the players could clearly be seen on his "story" hanging around the hotel pool, chatting about the recent draft and keeping the ball up, as is hockey tradition.

Bernik Vrzala was also stopped to get a quote on the recent events.

"Its honestly just a little sad that a newspaper would go through so much effort, to put out such a blatant lie, not even one that people would believe. It is quite upsetting because we want to come here and show the world our upcoming talent and make our families proud, but then these lies come around and make us out to be the villains. Its really upsetting for myself and my fellow players."

No word has come out since the hit piece was created, and there has been no official statement from the Germany-Austria national team either. With such a loud silence, we now wait and watch what the next article will detail, or if there will be a public apology for the serious accusations that the Austrian Media has placed at the feet of the Czech national team.

We will continue to follow this story closely to see if there are any other attempts made to discredit other teams, or if this was a one off failed attempt. This has been the National Czechers, signing off.
