Another season has begun in Anchorage, and after last season, it is definitely one to look forward to.

Last season, Anchorage only managed to squeak into the playoffs on the final day of the season, only to lose in the first round of the playoffs, and while making the playoffs was a definite positive to a very up and down season, it left the team with a taste for more, cause it was a little bitter to get into the playoffs only to be ousted unceremoniously from it a few short days later.

A lot of the rookies from last season grew together as the season chugged on, and making the playoffs on the final day goes to show the team functions well together when it matters, but perhaps they were a day late and a dollar short, which means this season, more than ever is the time to come together, train as one and be a real force to be reckoned with in the race for the Four Star Cup, especially with the expansion in Anaheim and Lethbridge.

Much of the same cast returns, this time bolstered with a wonderful crop of rookies from one of the biggest drafts in league history, bringing in nine rookies to fill out the lines, the defense core, as well as having a new goaltender.

So lets have a look at last season

The Season 44 Anchorage Armada

Eero Niemi

The teams leading scorer, tied with Xena at 21 goals in 50 games, which was good for 6th in the league, as well as adding 21 assists found him finishing at 42 points, fourth in the league for right wingers for a 0.84 points per game. One of the better defensive players on the team he managed to post a positive six rating, as well as a very respectable fourteen percent on the year for shooting percentage.

Xena

Another second year player, Xena exploded onto the scene and didn't look back, tying the team lead with 21 goals good for a 6th place tie, league wide, off 180 shoots, good for second in the entire league, and third in points among centers, and only missing a single assist to tie with Niemi at 42 points, her positive rating was tops on the team at 12, despite being second in hits taken at 115 in 50 games. being a wonderful defensive player, and although her shooting percentage was below Niemi, thirty more pucks on net meant a lot more offense in an end that wasn't ours, add in a positive faceoff percentage at 50.12% and you had a great first line center, and this is all without even bothering to mention the astounding five game winners, good for second in the league and having had a four goal game, as well as ending the season with back to back scoring games to boot, Xena was the do it all player it seems.

Dean Colt III

Another hold over from the previous season, found Dean Colt !!! manning the second line, taking faceoffs in key situations and coming in third on the team with thirty seven points in fifty games, placing seventh among centers in the league, the shoot first winger managed to bury seventeen goals, one being shorthanded, and added twenty assists, however was minus nine on the season, having gotten hit 97 times over 50 games, A positive however was that he managed one the teams and leagues best shooting percentages at 15.60%, good for eight in the league, and was among the leagues best faceoff winners with a 55.38% win at the dot. placed firmly at 5th in the entire league.

Karl Von Wittelsbach

The playmaker extraordinaire, fourth in team scoring with a palty four goals, but an incredible thirty two assists, good for 6th in the entire league, helped fuel the production in Anchorage, however like Colt, he was a minus nine on the year, but definitely didnt shy away from the physical play, being the teams leading hitter with eighty four, as well as having the most penalty minutes with sixty, putting him at sixth in the league, but being the seventh highest scoring defense man in the league, Karl brought a well rounded game.

Doug Dimmadome

A team mainstay, Doug managed to produce quite a bit of production on a line with Colt, and the next person on this list, scoring 16 and adding 18 assists, while shooting 165 on net, which was sixth in the entire league, this was sadly lessened by the team worst rating of minus fifteen, he was middle of the pack with hits and had a lower shooting percentage, but without him, the production and play making would not have been as potent, despite the defensive lapses, he was incredible as the triggerman on the powerplay, burying seven for a six way tie for 4th in the league.

R Mika Mayfield

Next up, we have rookie sensation, Mika Mayfield who exploded onto the scene, piling up points and streaks, with ten goals and twenty two assists, adding in a wonderful amount of production for a rookie, in fact third in the league, so the minus nine can be much more easily overlooked than the second year players, she combined on the line with Colt and Dime to be one of the most productive lines in the league, with two of the three usually contributing a goal or assist a game, as well as being a potent powerplay player.

R Leopold Lockhart

Anchroage really lucked out, being able to nab two players of the caliber that would see them finish this highly in the teams scoring, we have Lockhart who managed to put up eight goals including a hat trick, and twenty three assists for thirty one points in fifty games, right behind Mayfield for 4th in rookie scoring and only having a minus four on a team full of double that meant this defender was a stud from beginning to end defensively, especially with the seventh most blocked shots at seventy in fifty games.

Bust

In name only as the player managed a solid eleven goals and eighteen assists, having two game tying goals, while having one of the better differentials on the team at only a minus two rating, and managed to toss 148 shots on net, but sadly with a 7.43% shooting percentage, many of them didn't find the twine as often at they would have liked.

R Vegeta Mueto

Another rookie who held it together well in the defensive zone, with only a minus five, was Muerto, who managed two goals and twenty three assists, a great amount of production from a rookie, sadly the shooting percentage was lower, but the playmaking ability was definitely on point, and his seventy seven blocked shows shows a very good defensive mind, add on that he finished 9th in rookie scoring and you have a future stud.

Stolp Skottson

Much like Muerto, Skottson did well in his end, with a minus four, adding in a bit more on the goals and a little less playmaking, with seven goals and fifteen assists, he had a respectable 12.28% shooting percentage, firing only fifty seven shots on net all season.

R Arsene Arsenich

A later addition to the team prior to the season starting, the player was late, but definitely managed to cement himself on the scoreboards, being a very well rounded point producer, with ten goals, one shorthanded, and two more being game tying, eleven assists and only barely being in the negative at one. He managed just over a hundred shots on net, an offense more than welcome for a team needing scoring, finishing 10th among rookies in scoring and ending regular season with a three game scoring streak

Tucker Baloo

Of all the players listed since Niemi, this is the first who wasn't in the negative, with an even rating, having put up twenty one points in the form of six goals one shorthanded, and fifteen assist, as well as a good shooting percentage at 12.77, he didn't fire many pucks on net, but when he did, he made it count.

R Maxime Bouchard

And here we have the best defensive player on the team, leading with a plus seven, while adding in 21 points, with five goals and sixteen assists, but sadly one of the lowest shooting percentages at a paltry 5.21%, with nearly 100 shots on net. Once that shoot is worked on we could see a lot of scoring from this guy, especially in his second year.

R Kenji Yoshimura

Filling in on the 3rd line at center is always a tough gig, and Yoshi did well, with only a minus three rating, he managed twelve points, five goals and seven assists, while taking low penalty minutes and firing a 11.11% into the net.

R Jacob Geza

Quite a few rookies last season for Anchorage, and this one was a late addition missing the first few games of the season, but still managing ten points with three goals and seven assists in fourty six games, a minus seven could have been much worse given many other players on the team were used to the structure of the system, but he seemed to slide in effortlessly and looks to contribute well in his second season.

Takehiko Yukimura

The last of the skating rookies on this list, and one that may be a bit frustrating, but they did manage four goals and four assists for eight points, and being the best shooter on the team scoring those four on only twenty one shots for a 19.05% shooting percentage, if that level can be kept up the points will come and the minus nine rating will be gone completely.

Elias Armia Jr

Getting low minutes on the forth line, the highly touted pick just didn't measure up to expectations though there is still time to do so, Armia JR only managed five points, with four goals and an assist, a minus twelve was among the worst on the team and shooting percentage wasn't that great either. Time is running out for this player and their chance at greatness.

Lance Hamburglar

Ever have a double bacon cheeseburger? Well imagine it without bacon or cheese, and missing a patty. And it falls apart in your hand as you eat it. Well that describes Lance' season, with only a single goal and two assists, on twenty seven shots, a team low 3.70% shooting percentage, second worst rating at minus thirteen, and only eight hits, there is a reason the guy only played for 5 minutes or so a night.

Larra Atta

The backup in Anchorage posted a slightly better save percentage, but not by much, with 0.886, and a 3.27 GAA in 15 games, he managed only three wins and seven losses, with another in overtime, more of a stopgap than anything, he backed up starter, Hank Scorpio decently.

R Hank Scorpio

The man, myth, and legend, Hank Scorpio, fresh from the East Coast, managed a nice 20-14-5 record over forty games, getting Anchorage into the playoffs, on a poor save percentage of 0.868, and a 3.51 GAA, he let in a few, but thankfully most nights, the team managed to score more, he was hoever one of the best in one on one, having a 0.718 save percentage on 39 shot attempts.
