The Hidden Gems of the Upcoming SMJHL Draft

![]() SHL GM gnomes are our future
*2x SMJHL Draft Media Special*
With the S47 SMJHL Entry Draft coming up in a few days, we already know who the best and well known prospects are and which ones will have their name called first come Tuesday night. The Thomas Bathory's, Esa Parmborg's and Austin Roenick's of the draft will go early, but which player that will still be available in the third, fourth or fifth rounds will be total steals? The ones we look back on in a season or two and think, man, how were they still available? RW - Borůvka Banananák ![]() A fellow recreate, many GM's may dismiss his new player because it was a less than successful career for Blåbär Bananerström. That could lead to a team taking a chance on him in the 3rd or 4th round and if he stays active, could be more than a serviceable forward in the SMJHL. He's an offensive guy who is capable in his own zone and if he continues to improve, watch out. C - Aaron Wilson ![]() Created by a new user, who has already been on the site for a large amount of time on his first day. Normally, that likely means the player will burn out and fade away, but he could be the next big star of the SHL. Is this the next commissioner? Will he eventually become an SHL GM? His first player looks already like a solid center, putting all his points in faceoffs, endurance and scoring. He's definitely a guy to keep an eye on. C - Lex Peters ![]() Unless newly created player made by a user with big dreams and early activity. From beautiful Whistler, BC, Peters calls himself a playmaking center and certainly looks like a smooth skater so far in his young career. His player render is Thomas Ziegler, who honestly I had to Google, but he played 5 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2000-2001 so hopefully he's a little more successful in this, the best league in the world. D - Joe Ackroyd ![]() No, not that Aykroyd. Another new member on our list, this player is, like many of us, a Two-Way Defenseman. Luckily, he has put a lot of points into defense, because being a defenseman means playing defense first, but there is a hint of offense there. Could be a hell of a top 4 steal if he stays dedicated. G - Harry Carpet ![]() Some of the best goaltenders in the SMJHL last season had double entendre names (Shoutout to Anaheim goaltender Mike Hawk). Unfortunately, this draft and the last one had a lot of goaltenders, so he may be a great SHL goaltender down the road, but it will be tough to find starts to begin his career. Also wearing #48 as a goalie jersey number is great. Hopefully Harry can last in this league. RW - Julio Tokolosh ![]() An American offensive forward with a player render of Dion Phaneuf. Yep. He's asking a lot of questions early which is very promising. He has an avatar, which is very promising and his build is very balanced to begin with. I have a suspicious feeling that this guy is a keeper. Or this guy won't last until the draft. Either way, welcome aboard offensive Phaneuf! D - Corey Kennedy ![]() An Irish offensive defenseman could be the beginning of a new wave of Irish stars to hit the league and keep their legacy going. Another balanced build, Kennedy could find himself going early in the third round just because he has been active in the Interested Prospects threads and is definitely on the radar of many SMJHL teams. How far will they let him fall though? Some players not listed on this list are players who I think have a better chance at being drafted in the first two rounds, or are already inactive and will likely never make a big impact in the SMJHL. There is some good, promising value in the later rounds for teams to load up, but that is on the new members to keep active and improving, so they can fully show the GM's who passed on them that we are all stupid and know absolutely nothing about anything. Good luck! *700 words* ![]() Registered Junior Member
This is shockingly accurate. This gets a Lex Peters stamp of approval. Which is a silent knod.
