It was surprising that nobody caught the conflict in the schedule during the offseason. I have to admit I didn't even realize it till writing up this story and noticing that the St. Louis Scarecrow Organization would play a game in Montreal, fly back to Missouri to play against the Kelowna Knights and have to high tail it back to Montreal playing them twice in 3 days on their home ice! I suppose it wouldn't have been a problem but since the Airlines had to shut down all airports in the States for 30 hours due to "technical" reasons the Scarecrow ran into serious trouble. They had no hotel or motel rooms nearby with vacancy. They couldn't go home as they were unaware of just how long they would be delayed. Miscommunication with league officials also caused chaos. All in all it was what might be considered a Knightmare that the Knights projected onto them. The Knights had just beat them in a shootout and the Scarecrow felt they should of won the contest with ease. I suppose when a team beats you with only 12 shots on goal you get a little testy. When you add up that you have to fly all the way back to Montreal and sleep in an Airport things can get real ugly real fast. After 12 hours most of the players walked out heading to their nearby residences telling coaches, staff and management to text or call them when flights would be up and running. Needless to say the flights, players and staff all made it in time for their game. However missing the morning skate didn't help matters.

The Militia were looking for a little revenge against the Scarecrow after blowing a 2 goal lead the last time they met. They got things rolling in this game early and the snowball down the mountain turned into an avalanche. The Penalty Kill is what started it as Padraig Sarantez got called for hooking only 51 seconds into the first period. The Militia killed that off and at 4:30 of the first Filip Zadina got put in the box for tripping. The Montreal Militia made quick work with that Power Play Scoring from a bang bang play from two precise passes from Klozoff and Svensson over to Jaguar Johnson for his 4th goal of the season! Look Out Loretta as these Milita weren't kidding around and only 27 seconds later Rookie Ravyn Tedisko scored her 2nd goal in 2 games both coming against these Scarecrow of the Missourah. Not exactly a word in the dictionary but if you live in that neck of the woods you have heard it many times. Tedisko was assisted by Keegan Angello four his 4th of the year! It didn't take long for him to get his 5th assist of the year as he passed the puck over to Sarantez who passed it over to Herry Morrix the IV and he put the bread in the basket at 10:59 of the first to take a 3 goal lead! After that things settled down and it seemed Montreal played it safe. The were unable to take advantage of another power play when Basil Magnicotta got called for hooking at 12:46 but the house was a rockin and nobody was knocking as they headed back to the tunnel at intermission.

St. Louis seemed out of their game and after all the problems they endured in the last 48 hours who could blame them. They got into penalty trouble early in the second period with a minor for hooking and a double minor for high sticking coming at 4:00 and 6:18 respectively. Montreal was unable to connect on any of these special team chances but they seemed to have complete control of the game getting 22 pucks on net compared to the Scarecrows 7. The only blemish for Montreal in the period came right at the end when Oliver Klozoff was called for hooking at 19:24 allowing some Power Play to carry over to the third period for St. Louis.

St. Louis was unable to get anything going with that carry over power play but Montreals Man on Fire, Marc Hagan had enough of his slump and got an insurance goal at 6:58 of the third. James Truong got his 5th assist of the season on the play and seems to be gelling with Hagan really well so far. Dirk Von Grimmelshausen got his first assist of the season on the goal as well. Truong wasn't done getting another assist for 6 on the season and decided to get Rookie Zarley Zalapski in the mix as they played a little catch and passed it off to Jaguar Johnson for his 5th goal as the Militia took a 5 goal lead and one could say it was over! A slip up of line changes caused an opening for the Scarecrow and they got on the board at 15:01. Michael J. Fox got his second of the season... wait not that Michael J. Fox!! Anyways... Fox got his second and was assisted from Serpe and Magnicotta. Montreal slammed the door shut as the Commander and Skottson passed the puck to the point and Klozoff fired a wicked slapshot for his first of the season! Montreal end the game 6 to 1.
