This game was out of control from the get go. We know these two teams have no love for one another but after this game the hate is going to grow like a cancer. Not only between the two organizations but the Fan Base have not been kind either. If you search twitter and other social media all you will find is constant trolling from both sides. I have seen rivalry and hate before but recently the Knights and Militia have taken it to another level!

In this game, it all started when Knights player Liam Hutchinson was called for a high stick and drew blood. However, the refs missed it and only called a two minute minor. Coaches for the Militia were not very happy and they were being vocal about it. Everything started to heat up on the ice and things were getting physical. It seems the Refs tried to re-correct their mistake and gave the Knights a double minor to Jack Icicle for roughing. This led to the Commander getting his 4th goal of the season. It was nice to see the Swedish Connection, Stolp Skottson,  of the Primary Defense, contributing to the assist, along with Cadwalader. After the goal things escalated even more quickly and it didn't help matters that Nathan Explosion for the Knights scored at 9:10. Nathan actually exploded into the net crashing the goaltender while scoring. Video Reply could have gone either way in my opinion. The Fans were highly upset yelling obscenities at the Refs and the usual "Ref You Suck" chants could be heard in full force. Nine seconds later Laliberte for the Knights would get called for holding but the Militia did not score on that power play opportunity. Near the end of the period the Kelowna Knights not only exerted their force in a physical manner but now they started to show it on the scoreboard lighting up the lamp for two quick goals at 17:58 and 19:14 respectively. After the 3-1 lead all H E double hockey sticks broke loose! All gloves, sticks and helmets dropped as fisticuffs were being thrown in every direction on every spot in the ice. Benches cleared and the fighting continued. The refs couldn't get control and the fans were screaming bloody murder. At one point I thought the Fans might try to get involved by climbing over the plexiglass! Eventually things cooled down and Explosion was escorted off the ice with a game misconduct. The teams head back to their neutral corners known as the locker rooms and the Fans couldn't get enough on the replay shown above!

The second period has some penalties but nothing like in the first. Montreal gave up another goal due to a break down in the defense which is a rarity with this team. After being down 4 to 1 the Militia got a spark from the crowd and scored two to get things within one! I was worried about what might happen in the third since this game was a brutal display of barbarism. Not that I have a problem with that... this is Hockey after all.

The Knights came out in the third and kept up the physical pressure. Penalties ensued and it seemed that Montreal was getting suckered into playing the Knights game. The Militia were in the box constantly from the start. Kelowna made them pay at 3:56 with a power play goal and more bumps and bruises occurred. The did it again at 11:08 of the third and silenced the crowd taking a commanding lead of 6-3 with about nine minutes left to play. The commander would pass the puck over to Cadwalader and he would score his first goal of the season at 19:53 but the hole was too deep to dig out of. The players tried to duke it out some more when the buzzer sounded but the Refs were able to get control and the players left the ice. Zarley Zalapski player 12:11 minutes on the ice and had his worst game racking up a minus 3 for the total. All he wanted to say was that he couldn't wait to see the Knights again when they play again in ten days!

It seems that my editor mentioned that I left an important part of the story out. Personally, I wanted to forget. However, even though the game was high physical and in favor of the Knights this does not excuse the Militia from giving up 6 goals on 17 shots. Another problem is that Montreal was unable to solve the Knights Netminder even after firing 40 shots at him. These are serious issues that we hope are addressed and adjusted for in the near future. Preferably in the next game on forward!
